Tiled 4k screen support on 4th gen Core i Processors

$

Is there any kind of official statement as to the support of those existing and upcoming UHD (3840x2160Hz) PC screens that operate in tiled mode (so they operate in DisplayPort MST mode and get two 1920x2160 @60Hz signals that the driver puts together to a single display (just like you get one single 2560x1600@60Hz from a dual link DVI connection). AFAIK, all 4K screens right now operate in this mode.

Only the 4th gen Core I Series H models apparently support 3840x2160@60Hz according to this:

Quick Reference Guide to 4th Generation Intel® Core™ Processor Graphics (formerly codenamed Haswell) | Intel® Developer Zone.

Yet, the data sheet also states (http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/4th-gen-core-family-mobile-u-y-processor-lines-vol-1-datasheet.pdf table 9) that the U series can drive two displays at 3200x2000@60Hz. So, spec wise, there's enough pixel throughput to drive those tiled beasts, but it all comes down to the drivers.

Nvidia manages, AMD too (all with recent drivers and far from all cards) - what's intel's take on that? I read the sticky on collage mode for 4Kx2K - I just found some new drivers on WindowsUpdate that aren't yet on intel.com and using some creative option chosing, I actually managed to get collage mode working so my 4K screen now runs at full resolution at 60Hz, but since collage mode is meant for disjoint displays, it's not really the full experience (e.g. the taskbar only spans one screen or is duplicated, you can go full screen by dragging a window to the top, the usual you get with a dual screen setup).

Can we expect driver support for 4K tiled displays in MST mode on 4th gen core I processors in the future to drive 4K displays at their full resolution at 60Hz (so that not only do we get 60Hz, but Windows will see one single display and acts accordingly)?

"Display driver Intel graphics accelerator drivers for windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered" occurring with all Intel and Lenovo driver updates

$

We have seen this error many times on these forums, but my situation is a bit unique in that previous suggestions for fixes have not worked.

1. This is a brand new, clean Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installation from retail disc installed on a Lenovo T420s 4171-6ZU with all Windows and Lenovo updates applied (other than display drivers)

2. The error never appears when the generic Standard VGA drivers are installed.

3. I am running Windows 7, yet the error message alludes to Windows 8.

4. The error occurs randomly (every 2-30 minutes), however, there is an increased prevalence when using Powerpoint 2013.

5. Letting Windows Update install the last digitally-certified drivers (which are older than those on both the Intel website and the Lenovo website) results in the error.

6. Updating the drivers (v9.17.10.3347) http://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t420s/4171/6zufrom the manufacturer here: Laptops and netbooks :: ThinkPad T Series laptops :: ThinkPad T420s :: 4171 :: 6ZU - Lenovo Support (CA) did not fix the error.  Previous versions of these drivers also resulted in the error.

7. Updating the drivers  (v9.17.10.3517) using the latest Intel one also resulted in the error: Intel® Download Center

8. I am monitoring the temperature using GPU-Z and there is no correlation with high temperatures and the error.  I have cleaned the fan of dust as a precaution as well.

9. I have also downgraded performance through Power Options, but the error occurs in all modes.

10. I have disabled F.Lux and Intel Management Engine, as I have read of potential issues, but the error still occurred.

11. I have tested my RAM using Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and found no errors.

Please let me know what I should do next, and what logs may help diagnose and fix this error.

Intel HD4000 Graphics won't allow update to Win8.1

I have an HP Envy Touchsmart 15 laptop with built in Intel HD4000 graphics. I'm having problems installing the driver I need so that I can update my system to Windows 8.1. HP is blocking me from downloading the driver from Intel's website, was wondering if there was a way for me to get around that since I have been waiting more than a year now for HP to release an updated driver?

Hi, (for intel), why won't Intel allow changing of refresh rate for notebook integrated monitors? They have the option but it never works? Always says unsupported?  I have a Clevo W110er with optimus hd4000 and nvidia gt650m. Intel, please read and enable the refresh rate changing for the integrated monitors of laptops. Also, if anybody knows how to get it to work, let me know.

Virtual memory is @ 100% if i run a game at a different resolution than the desktop resolution!

Hey ho,
Two weeks ago i'v re installed my computer. Before one week i re-installed Battlefield 4 and i startet playing. I noticed a error message that told me that there is not enough memory is available. I'v never had this error before. After 2 weeks of testing and finding the problem i noticed that everytime i run a game at another resolution than my desktop resolution my virtual memory is linea filling up to 100%. After it reaches the 100% mark, the Windows Error message shows up and it wants me to close the game that i'm playing. If i run the game at the same resolution than the desktop resolution or in windowed mod this doesnt happen. If i switch back to the desktop, the virtuel memory is will be cleared again.

What i'v already tried:

  • Re-installed DirectX
  • Repaire Visual Studio 2013
  • Cleaned and re-installed Nvidia and Intel HD drivers
  • Used a old version of Nvidia drivers
  • Used a old version of Intel HD drivers
  • Re-installed Windows 8 Intel chipset drivers and sata
  • Different amounts of virtual memory
  • Moved the virtual memory from sdd to hdd
  • Checkdisc
  • Re-installed the games
  • Checked memory usage and programms
  • De-installed Avira AntiVir
  • Re-installed Windows 8.1

My system

  • Intel i7-3610QM
  • 8,00 GB - 1600MHz

Problem with HD 4600 displaying beyond 1024x768

I'm having an issue with the Lenovo M93p with the i5 HD 4600 connected to a KVM switch then an HP 2211x monitor. I have 3 other units at work running at 1920x1080 on said HP 2211x monitor. All the other units are G41 express chipsets GMA 4500 and all those work fine. However, the HD 4600 refuses to display anything beyond 1024x768 even when I set a custom resolution manually. I can connect it directly to the monitor and it works fine but switches back once connected to the StarView Professional KVM switch. The video is connected via the VGA port to the KVM which works with all the other units we have so it's not a problem with the port on the switch. The adapter lists no mode beyond 1024x768 and it ignores anything I do to set it beyond that no matter what I try.

Hotkeys bugs in latest Intel graphics driver for Windows 8 and 8.1

$

I have recently installed the latest Intel Graphics drivers for Windows 8 and 8.1 x64 and I'm experiencing an annoying bug with global hotkeys.

It looks as though the application registers all the hotkeys even if the hotkeys are disabled.

By default the following hotkeys are registered: Ctrl + Alt + Up, Ctrl + Alt + Down, Ctrl + Alt + Left, Ctrl + Alt + Right. These hotkeys aren't available in any other application on the system (global hotkeys) and the option to enable hotkeys in the UI is turned off (disabled).

Changing the hotkeys to something else will release the hotkeys so it looks as though the driver registers the hotkeys no matter what.

A second issue is that there's a problem with hotkey registration. I tried to register the hotkeys to Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Up, Down, Left, Right and the UI accepted the changes but the hotkeys aren't registered, instead the following hotkeys are registered Ctrl + Shift + Up, Down, Left, Right -> this makes selecting words and the like impossible which is very annoying.

IGD Current Limit of 32 sufficient for HD 3000 with slight overclock?

$

0

On both i5-2405S and i5-2500K, the default setting for IGD Current Limit is 32.  So it appears that HD 3000 without overclocking requires that value.

I'm playing around with overclocking the graphics on the i5-2500K under Windows 7.  I have no intention of cranking Graphic Max Multiplier.  I just want to get WEI into the mid-6s (Ivy Bridge HD 4000 is 6.7).

The DH67BL Performance Tuning Guide has specific examples of setting Graphic Max Multiplier to 36 and 43.  I tried 36, but Windows complained that the Intel graphics driver stopped and restarted.  I consider that bad news, so I immediately backed off to 32.  No complaints now.

I started Extreme Tuning Utility and ran a benchmark (607).  No problems were noted: 0% thermal throttling and no CPU temps over 49.

The DH67BL Performance Tuning Guide does not give any specific advice on IGD Current Limit and merely states: "It may need to be increased to not limit Intel HD Graphics overclocking. Thermals will need to be monitored to ensure throttling does not occur."

Okay, I understand the part about thermals, but the other comment is vague.  Is it a linear increase, for example, if I increase Graphic Max Multiplier from the default of 22 to 32 (an increase of around 1/3), do I increase the IGD Current Limit by the same percentage, in other words, to at least 40?  Anyone want to share a guideline on how much to increase IGD Current Limit?  Or is 32 enough for wimpy overclocking like this?

HD4600 clone cursor in top left corner when activating quicksync

I'm trying to use quicksync with obs (open broadcast software). But whenever i go to screen settings (through right click on the desktop) and detect monitors, select monitor on hd4600, select try to connect to vga anyway & lastly, extend desktop. I get a secondary cursor in the top left corner which doesn't move, but changes state with the main cursor.

The main gfx is a gtx770 & hd4600 is only for quicksync.

I've tried almost every solution i've been able to find.

One suggest installing an older driver version, another reinstalling nvidia drivers.

I've tried earlier release, latest release & beta release & after installing and rebooting the nvidia driver would fail and recover. I'd then clean reinstall the nvidia drivers as suggested by one. But it does not help. Every time i change from "show on desktop 1" to "extend desktop" i'll get the clone cursor, but only in extended mode, which is needed for quicksync to work, so it's not an option not to use extended desktop.

I've noticed there's quite a few with this problem on the obs forum, this forum and other forums as well.

Any suggestions ?

Hi Intel,

Just want to bring an issue to your attention that a few users are having with the integrated GPU (HD4000/HD4600). I am a user of the Emulation related front-end Hyperspin and this plays video snaps that are in the mp4 format. The problem is that while these videos play fine outside Hyperspin, when in the program they are garbled multi-coloured messes. The programmer has told us that this is not the software and the problem possibly lies in Intel drivers. The software is written in Actionscript and uses a plugin for mp4 playback I believe.

http://cdn.instructables.com/F5Y/ZU1M/AFSEZBF8FN4/F5YZU1MAFSEZBF8FN4.LARGE.jpg

That's a picture of pretty much what it looks like but the corruption would take up the top third, and the rest would be green coloured. That is the problem we are having, it may relate to the fact that the videos are played in themes that can move them into different angles and spins in 3d space and things like that. Essentially like an old-school DVE machine for TV. Example: http://www.blackmagicdesign.com/media/362421/atem.jpg

There is a community out there that would very much appreciate your help looking into this.

Intel HD Graphics 3000 black screen issue?

$

So I installed a program known as the "Bluestacks App Player" a few months back. It's basically an emulator designed to run Android apps on a PC. When I first downloaded it, it told me it needed a more up-to-date driver. I thought this was weird, since Windows update is supposed to keep my drivers up-to-date automatically, but decided to go along with it anyway (because, you know, those Flappy Bird urges...). Anyway, as soon as it installed the driver, my entire screen went black for about 10 seconds. Then the screen reappeared, but with a really old Windows design that I had previously only seen when I booted my Windows 7 laptop in safe mode. After a minute or so however, the screen disappeared and then reappeared with the normal Windows 7 design and layout. I started up the Bluestacks program, and it worked fine and I was able to play some of my favorite Android apps on my laptop (Temple Run, Flappy Bird, Cut the Rope, etc). I thought this was really cool and decided to not do a system restore, despite the scariness of the screen blacking out / displaying the safemode style of Windows. After a month or so I had basically forgot about it.

However, the other day when I was watching some videos on Youtube, my screen blacked out for a few seconds before reappearing. An error message appeared, which I ignored assuming it was a one time glitch. However, a minute later when I was watching another Youtube video, the screen once again blacked out for a few seconds. This time I read the error message. (see attached image).Image

My first thought was "What the f***! I don't even have Windows 8 installed. My machine came with and has always had Windows 7."

So my question is, why do I apparently have a driver for Windows 8(R) installed on my machine? Could a compatibility issue between this Win 8 driver and my Win 7 OS be causing my intermittent screen crashes? Also, is there a way to tell what drivers I am supposed to have on my machine?

Here's another pic. of the "programs" that were installed withImage

Bluestacks. Some of them sound like they may have installed drivers.

Any help / advice would be appreciated. (But DON'T just tell me to do a system restore / repair install.)

P.S.: The youtube crashes have become more frequent recently; usually my screen blacks out either when trying to load a Youtube video or midway through a Youtube video. It happens on average at least once or twice a day. The screen usually only blacks out for a few seconds, then reappears with the error message shown above.

Also, I have checked my computer manufacturer's website. I already tried downloading what i believe is the correct driver.

Image

However, after downloading nothing actually happened. When I checked downloads, it had downloaded an intel folder with a bunch of files inside it. How do i make it install the driver?

Hello Graphics Communities!

For a very long time now we've been trying to track down, diagnose, and correct an issue that seems to be happening all across the board with Intel® Graphics.  Users, for various reasons - seem to have issues with OEM systems (and Intel® NUC's) losing their display for different events.

  • Installing new drivers
  • Rebooting
  • Computers idling, going into sleep or hibernation
  • Other random events

We have run into a stumbling block in fixing this issue, and that is that we are unable to reproduce the symptoms above.  We have ordered exact-matching systems, displays and cables - and matched our configurations to those of the users having problems, and we are completely unable to reproduce the problem.  The issue is complex, but in this particular case - it stems from the fact that two users with the same configuration are not guaranteed to have the problem, it varies from user to user, system to system, display to display.

What we at Intel® are asking now though is 2-fold.  If you are one of these users (or a business) experiencing a consistent black-screening issue as mentioned above, we would like to procure your COMPLETE system configuration.  This means, we want you to ship us (at our expense) - the System (desktop or laptop), display (TV, monitor) AND the cable (hdmi, dp, dvi, vga) used by your system when it starts to have a blackscreen failure.  If you are willing to do this, you should be aware that we will keep your system for an extended period, and will compensate you by replacing your setup.

NOW!  Even if you are not willing to send us your system, and would just like to inform us that you have a black-screen issue.  That is okay too. Even if you have already submitted this info in some of our other black-screen threads, feel free to submit it here too.  Please submit the following information into this thread so that we can continue to document all possible instances of it.  Just copy and paste the below list and put in relevant information (completely!).  *NOTE* If you have not already done so, please update your BIOS and Display Driver to the latest version available.  We cannot accept a report of a failing configuration that is not up to date.  Additionally, if you are running your display through a 3rd party device such as a projector or an AV/R (receiver), you need to show that the problem still occurs without the extra device connected (a direct connection from system to display is required).

Are you willing to send your system to us? (Yes/No)
Is your system a laptop or desktop?
If desktop, is it custom built, or manufactured?
If desktop, what is the make/model of your motherboard?
What is the make/model of your system? (COMPLETE model name required)
What is the model of your CPU?
What is the make/model of your failing display(s)?
If laptop, is your built-in display failing? (Yes/No)
What is your operating system?
Is it a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system?
What display driver version do you have installed?
What type of connection are you using? (HDMI, VGA, DP, DVI?)
What happens that results in the blackscreen failure?

Any/all information is valuable.

Thank you for your information & cooperation!

Silverlight DRM issue with HD 4000 driver

$

Hi,

I noticed I can't access any DRM content via Silverlight, so long as my Intel HD graphics driver is installed.
Have tried just about everything so far and have been googling the issue for ages - with no reuslts. The only answer I could find so far is that this seems to be an issue with certain graphics drivers for which there is no apparent solution yet.

I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad x230t (34372YG) with an Intel HD graphics 4000 chip and all the latest drivers and updates.

I have tried reinstalling/repairing the Silverlight installation multiple times, have reset the DRM cache, tried to stream content in various browsers (as administrator) and with different internet connections.

The only thing that seems to work is to uninstall the Intel graphics drivers - at least until Windows automatically installs the latest drivers, at which point it stops working again. So no real solution there, either.

This has become really frustratin, since I can't use a single Silverlight-based online streaming service from this machine.
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

John

ArmA 3: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED seems driver related

$
0
0

Hello,

Ever since ArmA 3 was released as an alpha back in March, it plagued me (and quite a few others) with these apparently random DirectX 11 crashes (either freezing or CTD):

"D3D Error - DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED"

"Display Driver Stopped Responding and has recovered."

A few days ago I, acting on a hunch, installed an old driver (15.28.7.64.2867) from October(?) 2012 and was able to play the game without any crashes in area's/maps that were unplayable before.

Working my way up (I have some, but not all drivers released) I found that the drivers up to 9.17.10.2932 (December 2012) perform flawlessly, while 9.18.10.3071 (March 2013) and later tend to suffer from this issue.

So while installing the latest drivers is recommended as a starting point for every glitch, in this case it is not going to get you anywhere: it seems that every iteration has inherited a flaw that was introduced somewhere during that period (December 2012 - March 2013).

I hope this in some way helps you to tackle this issue, and allows me to have my graphics driver up to date in the near future...

These 'tests' were performed, ceteris paribus, on this machine:

Intel i7-3770K@3500|3900 (HD 4000@1150)

MSi Z77A-GD65 (UEFI: 10.11ß)

32GB Corsair Vengeance@1600

Windows 8.1_x64

All drivers were up to date.

Halo 2 Texture Flickering on Intel HD 4000 Graphics with Latest Graphics Drivers

$

I bought this game several months ago. Its one of my favorite games, however, these texture flickerings ruined my experience quite a bit. I know this is a problem with the drivers and was wondering if there is a fix for it. I'd like to replay this game once this problem is solved. I'm also aware that this was fixed in previous drivers, but if I install those, I cant play some of my newer games. I've included a video of the texture flickering. It's very bad at the main menu and still pretty bad during the rest of the game.
