Can't get 2560x1440 in cloned view / using DisplayPort to mini-DsiplayPort cable, ThinkPad T540P and iiyama Prolite xb2779qs

$

Hi,

I'm using Lenovo ThinkPad T540p with native resolution of 2880x1620, plus an external display iiyama Prolite XB2779QS with native res. 2560x1440. In extended display mode, everything works fine, but with cloned view, I can't get any higher than 2048x1152. The equipment is connected with a displayPort to mini-displayPort cable, so in theory I should be able to achieve it.

OS - Windows 7.

The laptop is equipped with 2 cards - Intel (integrated) and nVidia GT 730M.

Adding a custom resolution using Intel graphics control panel doesn't work - bandwidth exceeded, I tried all possible setting combinations, even 30Hz (though it's not sufficient for my work).

As for nVidia control panel - I can't do anything with it because it's empty.

I updated both nVidia driver and the iiyama monitor .INF file. The monitor is recognized correctly by the system.

Can I get 2560x1440 in cloned view somehow...?
Thanks!

Driver not updating to newest

$

I'm not exactly sure if the Version number and date are simply not updating, or if it simply didn't update.

So I just acquired Windows 10, and went ahead and downloaded the new Windows 10 Driver for 4th Gen Processors (4600)

I did the manual updating, which is manually searching -> Have disk -> Pick the ighdl64 file. after all the process, and to ensure the Update takes place, I restarted my PC.

I checked the Driver, and to my surprise, it's still the 7/17/2015 version, and not the new one.

Is there any solution to forcing the driver to update, or should I just simply let the version number and date update?

I appreciate the sincere replies!

Windows 10 - refresh rate

$

Hi all,

I have a laptop (a HP G1 850, with Intel HD Graphics 4400) which generally works fine, but because I had a slight issue with screen flickering, I adjusted the refresh rate to 40p hz when I was still using Windows 8.

After updating to Windows 10 and installing the Intel Windows 10-driver, I can no longer adjust the refresh rate to anything other than 60p hz. It isn't shown as a possiblity in the Windows settings, and if I try to create a manual setting through the Intel Graphics Control Panel, I get the  'exceeds the maximum bandwith' notification.

Is there a way to get a 40p hz setting (besides going back to Windows 8)?

Thank you in advance for you reply.

Intel hd 4600 driver is using 4.1gb in non paged memory

So I have had this problem with the driver for quite a while now and basically whilst the intel hd 4600 driver is enabled the non paged memory is at 4.1gb but if I disable the driver it goes back down to 40mb, so could someone help me solve this problem since I can't really play the games I want since my memory sits at around 86% before even launching a game. I have  8GB 1600mhz ram.

BSOD with GlideN64

Back on Windows 8.1, the new drivers caused major issues with GlideN64 as seen here:glitchy slow graphics in GlideN64 (moved from dev forum)

Now, it got a whole lot worse.

On Intel HD 4400, Dell Latitude E7440, I am getting a BSOD on GlideN64 (OpenGL only) plugin on project64.

Related page: https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/512

Plugin download link: https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/releases/

Project64 download (careful with "special offers"): http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/project64/binaries/

Hope you can get it working and not crashing the system. The BSOD has been reported to Microsoft as well.

- NEW- Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Driver update posted for Haswell and Broadwell version 15.36.21.4222

$

This update addresses several previously found issues and includes new features. Please see the release notes and excerpt below for details. As always, feedback is appreciated.

The 15.36.21.4222 has been posted to Intel Download Center at the following direct links to the drivers:

32bit -  http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24965

64 bit - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24964

This driver supports the following:

5th Generation Intel® Core Processors with Intel HD graphics, Intel Iris™graphics, Intel Iris™Pro graphics and select Pentium®/ Celeron® Processors with Intel® HD graphics for Microsoft Windows* 8.1, Microsoft Windows* 8 and Microsoft Windows* 7 operating systems.

4th Generation Intel® Core™Processors with Intel HD graphics, Intel Iris™graphics and Intel Iris Pro graphics and select Pentium®/ Celeron® Processors with Intel® HD graphics for Microsoft Windows* 8.1, Microsoft Windows* 8 and Microsoft Windows* 7 operating systems.

New Features in this release:

  • Support for the newly launched H-series, R-series, and S-series 5th Generation Intel Core processors.

  • Display Scaling Option is Now “Sticky” User Preference

Scaling support in control panel has been changed to improve user experience. Previously, the set of scaling options available to the user was tied to the currently selected resolution and any change to the resolution caused the user selected scaling option to be lost. In the new implementation, the user selected scaling option is orthogonal to the current resolution and expresses the user’s preference/intent for scaling behavior, regardless of the current resolution. The driver will remember this scaling preference and apply it for future display mode sets performed either in the graphics control panel OR via OS control panel.

  • Forced Application Scaling

The control panel also offers a new “forced application scaling” option where the user selected scaling option above for desktop will also be applied for full screen applications (generally games or media players), overriding whatever scaling mode the application and/or DirectX runtime/Operating System specify. This is intended to allow users to force “Stretch Full Screen” or “Maintain Aspect Ratio” scaling to address problems reported by users with games running in “Centered” scaling mode - particularly DirectX10 and 11 games and/or on Windows 8/8.1. Centered mode gives a bad user experience when running games as significantly lower than native resolution (e.g. to improve frame rate) on displays with very high resolutions. Intel has identified several root causes for this behavior:

untitled.png

a) Some games request “Unspecified” scaling to the DirectX runtime upon full screen mode set. On Windows 8 and 8.1, for touch enabled systems, Windows converts this to “centered” scaling in the mode set call into the display driver. Microsoft has acknowledged this issue (CSS case 115021712411905/MSBU bug 5500783); the forced scaling option provided in this driver is a workaround for this Win8/8.1 operating system issue.

b) Several games explicitly request “Centered” scaling. Intel has reached out to the game developers to educate them to request “Stretched” scaling instead and several games (such as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare) have been patched to correct this behavior, but other applications may still have this issue.

In both cases, the new forced application scaling option provides a solution to allow the user to specify their preferred scaling mode.

This option is not enabled by default because it technically means that the graphics driver is not honoring operating system requests for mode sets and would cause WHCK test failures during driver certification. However, Intel strongly recommends users set this option when playing games at non-native resolutions, especially on Windows 8/8.1, especially for DirectX10/11 games.

  •   Dedicated Memory Reporting

The graphics driver now reports some amount of fictitious “dedicated” graphics memory to the operating system (128MB by default) to work around applications issues in a number of games. These games incorrectly look for some amount of “dedicated” graphics memory because they weren’t coded with the unified memory architecture for processor graphics.

The amount reported can be modified or disabled if desired by changing the following registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\GMM, create a REG_DWORD value named “DedicatedSegmentSize”. The value is interpreted as number of MB to report (0-512MB). A value of 0 disables reporting the dummy memory segment. If the registry key/value is not found, the driver will report the default 128MB.

Please see the release notes for issues resolved with this release.

Thanks

When was vsync problem of Intel's graphics driver fixed?

$

In driver version 10.18.14.4264, vsync problem that prevented my app from getting 60fps in lower timer resolution appears to be fixed.

But most people will stick with older drivers. Laptop manufacturer will not release update of customized driver.

From which version did this problem appeared? In which version was this fixed?

How to avoid the problem on the system without this fix?

Detect GPU and driver version somehow, then use timeBeginPeriod?

I struggled to do vsync on Intel GPU without setting higher timer resolution, and I realized that it was pretty difficult.

Using DwmFlush seemed to work, but the animation was not smooth sometimes.

Thanks to anyone willing to share their time to test this!

GMA 3600 (N2600/N2800) working in Windows 8.1 with UAC off?

$

I'd pretty much given up on getting any good news about cedarview compatibility with Windows 8, but as 8.1 has just come out I thought I'd check again. I've just come across this on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58X4iDDRn7w

It seems to show Metro working on a GMA 3600 with the 1073 Windows 7 driver. As stated in the description for that video, all the person did was execute the following, which disables UAC:

cmd.exe /c %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Can anyone currently running Windows 8 or 8.1 confirm this? The above is easily reversible if it doesn't work and/or you require UAC, just substitute the 0 for a 1.

Hi,

I have an HP S110 3138tu Netbook with 2Gb RAM currently running Windows 7 Pro which I want to upgrade to Windows 10.

When attempting the upgrade, I get the message

"Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 3150"

and the text

"Display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10.   Check with the manufacturer for support."

Does anyone know if Intel is to upgrade GMA 3150 to be compatible with Windows 10 or if there is an alternative driver?

Also, I am not sure if it is an Intel or HP issue so I am trying both areas.   No luck from HP so far.

Fingers crossed.
