Feature Request - implement EDID override

$
0
0

Hello,

it would be nice if the Intel Graphics driver would support overriding EDID information like described in this document from Microsoft:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg487330

Why is this needed?

In a common HTPC (multimedia PC) setup with a PC, AVR (audio video receiver) and a television, the EDID information stored in the receiver & television that is passed to the PC determines the video and audio capabilities like: supported resolutions, supported audio formats etc ..

The problem is that very often the system only "sees" the EDID information of the television, and not that of the receiver, and so you don't get support for audio formats like DTS, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD that are supported by the receiver ...

The latest Sandy bridge CPU and corresponding chipset support all these sound standards, but they often not useable cause of these EDID problems.

Actually it really does not matter what video card / integrated graphics you use, NVidia and AMD graphics have the same problem, but their drivers

allows people to override the EDID information like is described in the above linked document from Microsoft.

Please implement this stuff, shouldn't be that hard to do, for one of you senior driver programmers it's probably just a few hours of work ...

Thank you

Christian

i7-7700k Drivers

Recently I upgraded my PC to the new I7-7700k with an Asus Prime Z270-A ATX Motherboard and 2 x 8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 Ram.

Since this upgrade, my PC has been crashing to desktop about 15 minutes after I try and play and games.

I believe this issue has to do with the fact that my CPU currently has no driver, I could be wrong in saying this however.

Any help is appreciated with this issue, or if there is a release date for CPU drivers that I could have.

Thanks.

The option disappeared in Intel Graphic

Good night, I have an ultrasound with windows xp. From day to day disappeared the option TV + Monitor in the graphical options of Intel. For this reason, I can not use my video printer to print the scans. Only Netbook and Monitor appears, before there was TV and Monitor. Can anybody help me? Thank you very much.-

EDIT: The video printer is conect to Video Out.

HD Graphics 530 problem with openGL

Hello,

Since my graphic card Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 automatically updated its driver to the version 21.20.16.4550, I have the following error in some applications using open gl:

«can't find the name of intel ICD OpenGL driver»

I downgraded the driver version to the version 20.19.15.4300 and I don't have the error anymore.

It is a workaround, but I'd rather upgrade my graphic card driver if possible.

Do any Intel integrated graphics support MPEG4 Copy-once video?

$

I am trying to get clarity the current status on MPEG4 copy-once video over HDCP (i.e. cable TV video in Windows Media Center) with Intel integrated graphics. My research on this forum and elsewhere suggests there has been no support for my htpc's current i5-4690s processor. Is this still the case or do current drivers support MPEG4 copy-once? With Windows 7 or Windows 10?

If not, do any of the latest generations of integrated graphics now support MPEG4 copy-once video over HDCP? If so, which ones? As MPEG4 copy-once is coming my way I need to figure out what upgrades I can make to support it: a new mobo/processor with working integrated graphics is preferable to adding a video card, as my sound card takes up both slots in my fanless htpc.

Thank you.

Intel NUC Win7 Media Center (No extenders involved) H.264 DRM video missing

Hello,

This is a follow up to a previous thread on the same issue that got somewhat sidetracked without a resolution for the issue at hand.

I have an NUC6I5SYH, running Windows 7 Media Center, using a SiliconDust HDHomerun Prime with a cable card from Comcast. The NUC is connected to my TV. In my area, Comcast delivers a lot of channels in H.264 instead of MPEG2 as before. Now some of these are DRM'd such as HBOHD. When playing these using Media Center, I get audio but no video (just a blank screen). I have a fully updated OS including the latest drivers from Intel. To be clear this issue is not about Media Center extenders.

Here is a combination of what works and what does not work:

  • MPEG2 --------------> works
  • MPEG2 + DRM -----> works
  • H.264 ----------------> works
  • H.264 + DRM -------> does not work (no video, blank screen)

In the previous thread it was concluded that the issue was not due to Intel graphics. However external community threads on this issue have concluded that on a system exhibiting this behavior, using a non Intel Graphics card fixes the issue. See No pictures with some channels - Page 3 - Silicondust.

Unfortunately this is not a solution on a NUC and clearly indicates the issue lies with Intel Graphics and not anywhere else. Can Intel please re-evaluate this and see what is going on here? How can I help to debug/isolate the problem?

Thanks.

Intel HD Graphics 530 - Poor performance 4K

Hello,

I have a 4k display Acer Aspire VN7-592G, with a Core i7-6700HQ and a GeForce GTX 960M (Exact configuration HERE). Unfortunately I am experiencing low performance when using the integrated HD 530 to run some 2d applications, like Excel. For example, resizing the columns or the rows crawls at about 5-6 fps. If I switch to the high performance 960M (using the context menu > run with graphics processor > high performance) there are no issues. The same problems can also be observed during some desktop animations and overall user interface experience.

The issues I am experiencing seem to be similar to those described in another post, Intel HD Graphics 530 - Poor performance 4K . QuGhZx actually posted a very relevant video.

I have tried different driver versions, none of which made any improvements. Could this mean that the 530 can't handle 4K? Does anyone know more about this? Is it a driver issue? Any help is appreciated!

I am attaching the output from System Support Utility.

HD Graphics 530 No Screen Rotation Hotkey

$

Hello,

I have a small issue with my laptop, XPS 15 9550 (Core i7 6700 HQ with Intel HD Graphics 530) in which the screen orientation hotkey is not available in Intel HD Graphics panel (see attachment).

I am able to rotate it via Display Settings -> Orientation -> change it to either landscape or portrait. But I'm used to with the orientation hotkey (Ctrl + Alt + Arrow Up or Ctrl + Alt + Arrow Left) to rotate it from landscape to portrait and vice versa.

I use the latest official driver from intel 21.20.16.4542 and actually when I tried to install this driver it said it was not validated for this computer. So DELL is restricting its user to use Intel generic driver, and I don't want to use their driver (20.19.15.4483) because I have an issue with one of my application if I use that driver.

So, what can I do to be able to get the hotkey functionality again?

Another note, right click from desktop only shows Intel Graphics Settings. Intel Graphics Options is not there (see attachment) which has an option to rotate also from there.

Let me know if you need more data and thanks!

Coil Whine in Asus Laptop from intel HD graphics 530

$

Hello to everyone!

This is my first topic on this forum, and I expect you can help me with this annoying problem that has been disturbing me for some days.

Recently, I bought an ASUS R510V laptop with freeDOS as OS, 8 GB RAM, intel i7 6700HQ, GTX 950M as dedicated GPU, and intel HD graphics 530 as integrated GPU.

About 2 weeks after installing Windows 10 and Ubuntu 14 I realized that, sometimes, a high-pitched noise came from inside the laptop (hear the noise). Surfing the internet I came to the conclusion that is coil whine, and I think its origin is the intel integrated graphics. First of all, this noise is produced only while using windows (not in ubuntu, where I can only use GTX 950M GPU), specially in the screen that appears when an application needs special permissions, or in applications like Google Chrome. I have updated my Intel drivers too.

650x440xuac-type-admin-password.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.-98QPVkD40.png

But the most strange thing I have discovered recently is: this noise does not show up while the Intel Driver Update Utility or the Intel Graphics HD control panel are running in foreground.

Do you have any idea why is this happening? Any suggestion to solve this problem apart from having Intel Driver Update Utility or the Intel Graphics HD control panel running?

Thank you so much anyway and sorry for my English!

I recently tried to reinstall my Intel(R) Iris(TM) Pro Graphics P6300, and I encountered this;

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Object Name not found.

It deleted around 8 months ago and uninstalled completely from computer and I went to device managers today and tried to reinstall it by using legacy hardware or some other stuff. I have been told to update it, but when I do it says it is already up-to-date. It can't be. The reason it was deleted a while back was by accident. I use two graphics cards. The other one is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 610. I have a 64-bit operating system and a x64 based processor . Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20 GHz 3.20 GHz

. Running windows 8. Please help.

I reinstalled windows due to a virus and now when I right click and go to Graphics there is no "Output To TV" option.

I now can't hook my laptop to tv without the option "Output to TV" under Graphics.  I know the HDMI cable is good and the tv input is uder the input 2 that I use for media center which works fine.  How can I get the option Output To Tv option back????  I have done all recomended updates, I now have windows 10.  I have an Acer Aspire v 1 1 touch, intel pentium,  quad 4 intel hd graphics.

Graphic driver update problem help

Recently I've been experiencing flickering issues with my laptop screen, and occasionally I get an error message/crash report saying this:

'Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Display driver Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered.'

For that reason, I decided to update my graphics driver, which I haven't updated since I got my laptop almost 3 years ago. I installed and ran the Intel Driver Update Utility 2.6, but then I got the following:

'A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.'

I have an ASUS laptop and use a Windows 8.1 64bit. How should I proceed? Thanks.

Corel Paint Shop Pro X wont start due to new Intel HD 530 Driver (Win 8.1 64bit)

Hi,

when i install one of the newer Drivers (Beta Build 4534 (comes through Windows Update) or the current stable 4542. (Btw, why is it blocked to Copy Driver Information from the Driver Site ???)

When one of both Drivers are installed, Paint Shop Pro X wont start and is hanging at the PSP Logo.

When i uninstall the Driver, PSP works again. ive tried the lastest one too, doesnt work.

With Driver 4501 there seem no Problems. At least i did not notice any (so far).

I use Windows 8.1 64bit with 32GB, but PSP X is 32bit Application. (this Version is more than outdated (2006), but it worked already and this is obviously Driver related and not an Windows issue)

extra (nonexistent) displays showing after Windows Update

$

After a Windows update on or around 11/2/2016, my laptop began to have issues connecting to external displays in extended mode.  There are now 4 extra displays represented in the device manager and display settings.  I can no longer open the intel HD graphics control panel either.

The "broken" driver is 20.19.15.4531.  Installing an older driver works, however auto-updates keep installing and re-upgrading to the broken driver.

This is a Dell Precision M3800 laptop.

This seems to be the same issue as the two following items:

Broken Driver 20.19.15.4531 (Windows 10, i5-4210M, HD 4600)

Re: HD 4600 none existent monitors

Please advise a fix for this recurring and seemingly unavoidable issue.

HD6000 3D Blu ray performance issue

$

Using PowerDVD 15 I am seeing inconsistent playback of 3D blu ray. When I start a 3D movie (TV is a Vizio M801D-A3; 1080p/24Hz; frame-packing), the image may distort frequently and cause an image that appears to almost look like its viewed underwater. Depth of the image is also incorrect for seemingly random parts of the image. If I then pause the movie for a few seconds, or back up to the beginning of the chapter, the issue so far resolves itself, but sometimes it takes a few tries to do so.

This seems like a driver bug. I did not have this issue using PowerDVD 15 with Nvidia graphics on my previous build. Attached is my Intel system profile and dxdiag report if that helps. I'd appreciate any assistance.

1 second mouse freeze - lags (when clicking Start; when changing desktop background...) in win 10x64 with i5-hd530

Hello,

I just bought a new HP Wave 600 desktop computer (i5 6ºgen with Intel Graphics 5300+AMD R9 M470 for 3D+Realtek HD Audio). This model was released in September 2016.

There are short mouse freezes -lags (about 1 sec). It happens sometimes when clicking in Start., ALWAYS when changing desktop background (in the transition between the old and the new background), sometimes when openning some win 10 universal app (twitter for example). Looks like the problem triggers when some animation or graphic transition are involved in the desktop. Tried different mouses. No change. Freezes keep happening. Tried to reinstall the OS from the ground and with no other programs or drivers intalled. No change. The mouse freezes are there from the very beggining after a n OS fresh install. It´s very annoying, frustrating. Any help would be really apreciated.  Thanks
