Intel ME update breaks HDCP 2.2?

$

Hi. My apologies if this is not the correct place to post this message. I figured it was the most relevant since it had to do with an HDMI handshake protocol (HDCP 2.2 in particular).

I recently installed a fix for INTEL-SA-00086. After installing the update supplied by my motherboard manufacturer, rebooting my PC, and confirming that the correct ME version was listed in the UEFI, I tried to watch an Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc. Playback failed. I saw an odd error message from PowerDVD and used Cyberlink's playback advisor to make sure everything was in line. Much to my surprise, it said that HDCP 2.2 was "not available." There's no reason I know of why this should be the case. To be safe, I reinstalled the latest Intel display driver. No dice. HDCP 2.2 is still marked as not being available.

I'm writing to seek further advisement. To be honest, my gut suspicion is that this is an ME issue. Before installing the ME fix, there had been some playback issues under certain circumstances. For example, when trying to watch UHD discs (and Netflix using various apps and browsers), the video would drop out every few seconds, like a handshake had failed and needed to be done again. Something about the ME fix might have been the fatal blow. To be clear, before the ME fix was installed, the new display driver had dropouts but I was able to play back UHD discs, even if the end result was essentially unwatchable.

As a troubleshooting step, I reinstalled my older display drivers. No luck. HDCP 2.2 was still broken. So, it's almost certainly an ME issue, unless the display drivers need some sort of update (or Cyberlink's software needs an update, which wouldn't surprise me at all).

Here's what I consider to be the relevant portion of my setup. There's other stuff but I don't think it's relevant.

ASRock Fatal1ty Z370 Gaming-ITX/ac motherboard (1.11 beta BIOS)

Coffee Lake i7-8700 CPU

LG WH16NS60 Ultra HD Blu-Ray drive

Windows 10 (1709 - fully up-to-date)

PowerDVD 17 Ultra  (fully up-to-date)

Intel UHD 630 driver version 15.60.0.4849

Intel ME consumer driver version 11.8.50.3425

No discrete graphics cards

Thanks.

Right Click Freeze Problem

Hi,

as people with Intel + NVIDIA laptops, we are having a very frustrating issue where our devices get locked for about a second when we right click on desktop or click on the battery icon on system tray.

This video here demonstrates the problem perfectly:

This was recored on a Razer laptop. But the issue can be seen on all brands including ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Razer.

We have tried updating every software possible, but no luck.

  • Intel driver
  • NVIDIA driver
  • Chipset driver
  • BIOS
  • Firmware

The problem can be solved by either disabling Intel GPU or disabling NVIDIA GPU. Both of them is not an option though, as if you disable Intel, not only you will drain the battery faster, but also some games will stop working. If you disable NVIDIA, then what is the point of buying a laptop with a discrete GPU?

There is a also a workaround: configuring a software to always work with NVIDIA in the backgound. This keeps the GTX 1060 alive but also drains battery faster. And there is no poaint in that as it renders Optimus useless!

I have created the same topic on Microsoft forums back in June 30! And so far, Microsoft did nothing about the issue: Intel + NVIDIA Laptop Freeze Problem - Microsoft Community

They also have a support article for an issue like this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/4033498/brief-black-screen-at-uac-or-wake-up-on-computers-that-have-two-video

  • 1607, problem.
  • 1703, problem.
  • 1709, problem...
  • RS4, problem goes on...

But today, we have found a solution for the right click issue! It turns out that removing those two entries from the regedit context menu prevents system freeze!

  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxcui
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxDTCM

So, I believe that the battery icon freeze issue is also related to Intel driver.

Please take a look at this problem and provide a solution.

Hi.

I have a Core i5 2520M CPU with HD Graphics 3000.

I use Windows 10.

I read a lot of articles, but found no answer to my problem.

I would like to play with a game: Planescape Tournament Enhanced Edition

Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition - Beamdog - Great Games, Easy

If you roll down you can see the requirements.

It tells i would need openGL 2 compatible graphics card.

But when I installed the game, it says:

Unable to load openGL driver.

GL_Version: 1.1.0

GL_Renderer: GDI Generic

GL_Vendor: Microsoft Corporation

So my problem is that: I found no openGL support for HD Graphics 3000 under windows10.

I asked Beamdog (the game developer) what shall i do, and they told me to ask the manufacturer. So i am here and i would like You guys to help me.

Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you.

No Intel HD Graphics 620 Driver for Windows 8.1?

I recently bought a laptop with the new Kaby Lake processor (i7-7500U) and after a brief looking into Intel's website I found out that there is no graphics driver for Intel HD Graphics 620 for Windows 8.1, only for Windows 10. Are we going to see any drivers in the future (7500U has just been released so no drivers for its graphic unit is acceptable) or Intel is not going to release for Windows 8.1?

eye strain

hello,

I have a Notebook with Intel Core i7 4710 - Intel Graphics 4600 and external Nvidia Gforce GTX 850M for about 2 weeks now. I connect the Notebook on two different places per HDMI with nearly three year old lg monitors. With my old Notebook (Intel Core2Duo and Nvidia Gforce 9500GT) I had not any problems with this two monitors. However when I connect one of the two monitors with my new Notebook I get eye strain and headache. Of course I use the right resolution FullHD and tried out different brigthness and contrast adjustments in intel graphic properties. OS is Windows 7 Prof x64  and the newest drivers are installed. Version:15.33.22.64.3621
Nearly two months ago I purchased an other Notebook with Intel Core i7 4700MQ - Intel Graphics 4600 and Nvidia Gforce GT755 M. I had the same problem there and so I sent it back, because I thought that the Notebook has an defect. I tried out Windows 7 and Windows 8 and had the same eye problems in the two different OS.
Now I do not really know what the problem exactly is, because I have these problems with two different Notebooks on two different external LG Monitors and the integrated Displays of the Notebooks. But I thinkt the problem is the Intel HD 4600. Maybe that there is something wrong with the driver.
Do you have any ideas about this? Couse  I can't purchase and send back new Notebooks all the time.

Short freezes

Hi.

I hope this is the right place to post this, otherwise I'm sorry.

I've recently bought a HP Omen 17-w222ng on Amazon.

It didn't take long for me to notice that whenever I opened a program my laptop would freeze for about a second. The mouse stopped responding, the screen froze and the sound sometimes got interrupted as well. This happened for example whenever I opened Firefox, a new Tab in Firefox, Chrome, the Windows Control Panel or even with a simple Right Mouse Click. First I tried to update all the drivers, but that didn't help. So I decided to reset my Windows in the Windows Settings. Didn't help. So I tried the Fresh Start option in Windows Defender Security Center. Didn't help either. I then decided to create a bootable USB Stick with Windows Media Creation Tool, formatted my C: drive and installed Windows again with the bootable USB Stick. When my fresh Windows started, the short freezes didn't occur anymore. Because some of the drivers were gone and the Device Manager showed some Unknown Devices, I connected to the Internet to update these drivers. But as soon as Windows installed the Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) device, the short freezes appeared again. Whenever I uninstall this devices, the freezes disappear. What I did notice as well is that when I play a game and Windows uses my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, or when I deactivate my GTX in the Device Manager, the freezes disappear. There seems to be a problem with these devices working together.

I could just send my laptop back and replace it, but I wanted to ask here first. Maybe there is something that I overlooked or a simple answer to my problem. Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help.

Intel UHD Graphics 630 many issues

I built a new system together. Based on the new Intel Coffe Lake CPU Core i7 8700, with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630. And the ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-H Gaming Mainboard with newest Bios Version.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is up to date. Also, the official Intel driver for the iGPU is installed (15.47.02.4815).

However, many Software is not working properly at all. Like Example Cyberlinks Power Director 15+16 versions (on the current patch stand).

The preview in the timeline hangs constantly, and the image flickers constantly, or momentarily the Display goes completly black for a few seconds, and the software is not operable. Timeline playback stops or programs hang.

Furthermore, creating a BD disc is not possible because an error code is constantly being output. There are different error codes, including "eC0030106".

Before this - with the iGPU Intel HD Graphics 530 - everything ran smoothly.

Cyberlinks PowerDVD 17 (up to date) playback don't look smooth anymore, too.

Other Software which use the iGPU in Hardware didn't run well anymore. It looks like the iGPU Rendering doesn't work anymore.

All my Video Rendering Software like TMPENC didn't run with the Hardware Encoding of the iGPU (Intel UHD Graphics 630) anymore.

I have reinstalled Windows completly new, but nothing changes.

Is there anything changes in the driver ?!

When I use the Nvidia GTX1060 graphics card, there are no such problems at all.

I did not have any problems with all iGPU's before that, which is currently with the Intel UHD 630. The system runs very stable otherwise, even a test with Prime 95 did not cause any problems. Only when the iGPU becomes active, nothing works properly, as it should.

Dell Inspiron 13 5000 / Intel HD 620 Graphics Driver for Windows 8.1 / Intel Core i3 7100

Hi,

I have the following configuration:

Dell Inspiron 13 5000 series

Intel HD 620 Graphics

Intel Core i3 7100 CPU

I've just moved the computer over to dual boot between Windows 10 (it's installed operating system) and Windows 8.1.   I've found Windows 8.1 to be a little less bloaty, a little snappier, plus I can control when updates are installed.   With a slow broadband connection where I live, Windows 10 insisting on downloading updates can slow down the broadband at times to the point it can seem like I'm back on dial-up.

I tried installing the Intel HD 620 Windows 10 driver under Windows 8.1 and I got a message saying my processor was designed to work with Windows 10.

I've been reading the below threads and tried to use some of the solutions suggested where relevant to Windows 8.1, however, I've failed to make any of the solutions to work.

Can't find correct graphics driver for windows 7.

No Intel HD Graphics 620 Driver for Windows 8.1?

At the moment, I'm stuck with "Microsoft Basic Display Driver" as my standard configuration, however, I know I'm not getting the best out of my system as it stands.   My system is still slightly sharper under Windows 8.1 so I intend to persevere.

I did try posting to the end of one of the old threads, however, it appears they're now no longer live so to speak hence the new thread.

Can anyone help?

Thanks and regards,

Ian

UHD620 video hardware decoding cause inaccurate color

$

When I watch youtube with chrome, I found that the the color of video was inaccurate, i.e. green being too green, orange being too yellowish etc.. And if I pause the video or move my mouse to make the video control to show up, the color returns to normal. If I disable the hardware acceleration for video in chrome://flags, the color is always normal. So I'm pretty sure that it's the Intel UHD620 videl hardware decoding that causes the inaccurate color. Is there any way to fix this issue? The problem only occurs when video is played in full screen.

Black screen problem

Hello,

I have motherboard ASRock J3455B (Intel J3455 processor and integrated Intel HD 500 graphics), Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (build 1709-16299.64), Intel graphics driver ver. 22.20.16.4749 as of 24.07.2017 (last available on Windows update), HDMI connection (1 monitor).

I have recently noticed much longer system start up time, I guess due to Fall creators update. Previously the system was starting around 10 sec. Now is the start up maybe 4x, after windows logo falls to black screen, after further 30 sec continues to login and everything is ok.

I have downloaded older driver version (15.45), with that the system ends on black screen (monitor losses the signal – necessary safe mode and uninstall driver).

I have also tried download latest driver version (15.60), same result as with ver. 22.20.16.4749 as of 24.07.2017 from Windows update, 30 s black screen lag on start up with happyend :-)

Uninstalling Intel driver and using MS windows native driver solves all problems, system starts in 10 sec, like two weeks ago with Intel driver.

Has anyone experienced same problem? Hope it is not a feature :-)

Many thanks in advance.

Assigning profiles to specific softwares (games)?

Hello,

I own an asus r510jk-dmh086 laptop with both a gtx850m and an intel hd 4600, managed by optimus.

My question revolves around the fact that the vibrance and color options are not available through nvidia control panel and must be set through intel hd options.

I can manage to increase saturation there to get somewhat more color in game, but then my desktop would be hard to look at.

I have tried setting up different profiles and switching them regularly, but I wanted to ask here if I could do a prompt that would change the profile during the software uptime only or something like that.

Thanks in advance, and excuse my non native english,

Unable to access full screen scaling option

First of all i apologise if this has been covered but i have searched all day on the net and read so many solutions (that haven't worked) that im going word blind.

I have just bought an old lenovo thinkpad tablet 2 which im very happy with but here comes the problem, i want to run some games in full screen rather than the small window that comes up. When i go to display or adapter settings i do not get any options for scaling the screen, at full screen size i just have maintain display scaling and at the lowest screen size the only option is center image, thats it. Every solution i have read today gives the solution as to just change the scaling option to full screen but i cant as the choice isnt there.

I have the latest drivers confirmed by lenovo and intel driver checks so it must be something else.

Can anyone please suggest some other way to fill the screen, thank you in advance as im sure someone else has had this problem

Multiple Displays with Intel Graphics HD 630

I recently got a new computer with an integrated Intel Graphics HD 630. I used it with extended Dual Monitors

I then decided to add a third monitor to the extended display.

The problem is that whichever monitor is connected last will display only a black screen. All monitors are detected and the monitor itself does not show an unconnected screen, it just shows a black screen. The black screen monitor is even in use and I can move windows onto it, I just can't see them.

I can tell you what monitors I have and how they are connected, but only the last monitor connected displays this behavior. So it could potentially be any of them. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting them in various ways and it's always whichever is added as the third monitor.

Digital Display DELL D2414H

Digital Display2 SyncMaster

Digital Television ASUS VS247

There are only three ports on my computer - HDMI, VGA and Display Port - so I'm using all three.

I'm using connections these converters to the three monitors

HDMI out to DVI in

Display Port out to HDMI in

VGA out to VGA in

2nd monitor not detecting (Intel HD Graphic 630)

Hello!  I am having the same problem with the 2nd monitor and Windows 10.  I've been using this PC for 11 months with two monitors and recently in the past week or two the 2nd monitor is not detected.  I have a StarTech switch which I use for my work laptop docking station and through that both monitors are working.  I also physically switched the cables and got the 2nd monitor to work as a 1st monitor using VGA.  So it seems my display adapter no longer likes the DVI port.

--'Detect' says I don't have a 2nd monitor

--Update device driver tells me I have the latest driver

--Rollback device driver does not enable

Can you please help walk me through getting the proper device driver installed?

Intel HD Graphic 630 Does not start with two monitors after power off/on

$

I have two monitors (Philips 243V5) connected to PC main board integrated graphic (Intel HD Graphic 630 rev4 )

main board with Intel core i5 procesor, main board manufacturer: MSI model H270M Bazooka (MS-7A70)

RAM 8GB ; 1GB is shared with graphic

First  monitor on DVI,  the second on HDMI.

The graphic driver is actual.

After poower on and starting Intel Graphic Control Panel ..

only  one monitor is reported on the main Graphic Control Panel window

I select "multi monitor" link , then the option "search for other monitors".

The result is correct two monitors are identified and after few clicks   the wide screen (3840x1080) is working.

I can store the current profile under a new name (3840).

then a can return to single monitor and store the profile under another name (1920).

I can pull down the select profile menu and switch between my two profiles.

So far so good. The problem is, that after  power off/on      sequence ,  the (3840) setting is not restored.

The (3840) profile can not be restore using menu "select your profile" in Intel Graphic Control Panel (communicate "mission impossible")

so the setting procedure has to be repeated starting from  "search for other monitors".

I would be gratefull if sombody can help me to solve the problem.

Andrzej
