Driver issue: Full Quantization Range (0-255) not available with Displayport->HDMI adapter

$
0
0

I'm using Intel HD Graphics 630 via active Displayport->HDMI 2.0 adapter(because Intel chipsets don't natively support HDMI 2.0 yet), but there's no way to output 0-255 Full RGB Range even though it works when using HDMI.

This is because the Quantization Range setting in Intel HD Graphics Control Panel is not visible when using the adapter.

(I tried enabling EnableRGBFullRange = 1 in registry & changing display type from TV to Digital Monitor with CRU but this doesn't help either.)

It's an Intel driver issue since RGB Full Range works fine when the adapter is used with Nvidia GPU Displayport.

Steps to reproduce this bug:

1) Get an active Displayport->HDMI adapter such as CAC-1070.

2) Enable iGPU in bios and plug a HDMI Display into a Intel motherboard using the DP-HDMI adapter.

3) Make sure your display expects 0-255 and notice iGPU is outputting 16-255 (full black looks gray in e.g. desktop). (on LG TVs the setting "Black Level = High" means the display expects 0-255.) Notice the "Quantization Range" setting in Intel HD Graphics Control Panel is not available.

Optional steps to confirm the bug:

A) Uninstall Intel HD Graphics driver and reboot, notice black is proper black with the basic Microsoft display driver until Windows automatically updates & installs Intel HD Graphics driver.

B) If your Intel motherboard also has an HDMI output, remove the adapter and connect the display to HDMI (use 4K 30Hz signal or lower), enable Full Quantization Range in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel and notice iGPU correctly outputs 0-255 as black is now proper black.

C) Connect the DP-HDMI adapter to a Nvidia GPU Displayport and enable full RGB range in Nvidia Control Panel, notice black is proper black.

Suggested fix:

Enable "Quantization Range" setting also when a Displayport->HDMI adapter is used.

A temporary/manual solution would be appreciated too. (Manually putting MP_QuantRange_32623 = 2 in registry doesn't help as for some reason the value isn't read/used when the DP->HDMI adapter is used.)

My motherboard is Asus IX Hero Z270 and my CPU is Kaby Lake i5-7600k with HD Graphics 630. My DP->HDMI adapter is Club3D CAC-1070 which fully supports RGB 0-255 4:4:4 4K 60Hz HDCP 2.2. My display is LG OLED55B7V.

I'm using the latest Windows 10 1709 (16299.19) & Intel HD Graphics driver 22.20.16.4815. The same issue happens with drivers 22.20.16.4749 & 23.20.16.4819.

UHD 630 drivers screen Flashing on MSI GL63 8RC (1080p @ 60Hz)

Hi,

I'm aware this is a really old post and an NUC support topic, but I am also experiencing screen flickering issue due to the UHD 630 drivers on my MSI GL63 8RC, in 1080p resolution 60Hz refresh rate.

Having brightness set to anything less than 100% causes the sceen to flicker. This  is some problem that you can fix with a driver update, but it has been so long and yet a fix is not found. Can you please guide me as to how I can fix it? cvare

Driver error on windows 10

Good day, I really need help with this issue.

I have a laptop Lenovo Yoga 300 with an Intel Graphic HD N3050 series.

So far had no problem until a few days ago the videos and games stop working fine.

So I uninstalled and installed the driver back again but it didn't let me and showed an error "The installer couldn't install one or two of the drivers".

After restart my laptop I noticed my Intel driver was gone and was replaced by default Microsoft one.

Then Icame to intel and used "Driver and support Assitant Tray" which said my driver was out dated and so I got the one the assistant recommended, but didn't work.

Again it showed an error "the system is not compatible" even though was the driver suggested by intel itself.

So right now, I have no idea how to fix it, the videos and games are pure pixels. I would really appreaciate any advice and help. Thanks in advance!

Bug report: regression; Intel HD 620 and 630 fail to decode WebM VP9 with 4.4.4 chroma subsampling

Use any browser that supports hardware accelerated video rendering. We tested in Vivaldi, Chrome and Firefox.

Load a video that uses WebM with the VP9 codec, with chroma subsampling set to 4.4.4.

If you have an Intel 620 or 630 GPU chip, it will fail to render correctly, and instead comes out as a grey patchy image. The same video works correctly on the Intel 520 GPU.

We tested on 5 separate computers using these graphics chips, and tested with a variety of driver versions. The driver versions didn't make any difference.

When the video was created with 4.2.0 chroma subsampling, it worked correctly in all cases, so the bug seems to be related to the use of 4.4.4.

Test videos created using libvpx-vp9 on FFMpeg.

Attached the video that shows the problem, and the DxDiag output from a computer where the problem could be seen.

Intel Graphics 530 drivers causing black screen w/o cursor upon boot

Hi everyone,

When i boot Windows 10 (version 1803), I am greeted with a black screen without cursor after the motherboard splash screen appears. This problem appeared a week ago (5/22/18).

I found that the problem was that Intel Graphics 530 drivers were causing the black screen, so I replaced them with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter drivers. These work fine, but they offer horrible performance and I am not able to do anything that is graphics intense (gaming, etc).

Through the process of finding what caused the black screen, I reformatted by hard drive and reinstalled Windows cleanly using a USB stick. I have also scanned for viruses using a lot of different programs (Malwarebytes, Bitdefender, Windows Defender, TDSKiller, etc), so the problem must be with the drivers.

I tried installing different versions of the driver, including ones all the way back in 2015, 2016, 2017 and the latest one 6094 released on 5/22. I have also tried installing drivers directly from my OEM manafacturer HP, but those didn't work (they were from 2015). I have tried to revert to Windows 10 version 1709 (the one before 1803), but all of the driver versions still do not work there. I tried everything, and I can't come up with any other solution. Help?

UHD620 video hardware decoding cause inaccurate color

$

When I watch youtube with chrome, I found that the the color of video was inaccurate, i.e. green being too green, orange being too yellowish etc.. And if I pause the video or move my mouse to make the video control to show up, the color returns to normal. If I disable the hardware acceleration for video in chrome://flags, the color is always normal. So I'm pretty sure that it's the Intel UHD620 videl hardware decoding that causes the inaccurate color. Is there any way to fix this issue? The problem only occurs when video is played in full screen.

Blank windows on certain apps after most recent Windows 10 update

Hi, I've run into an issue with certain windows being blank after the most recent Windows 10 update. I think it might be a compatibility issue between the most recent build of Windows 10 and the Intel graphics driver. The issue only affects certain windows of specific apps. Details below. Thanks for your help!

Description

Provide a detailed description of the issue

After the most recent Windows 10 update, I noticed that specific windows of certain apps appeared blank. Specifically, these are: the table relationships screen in Power BI; the video on WebEx; and the 'Generate Password' and 'Save Password' windows in 1Password. Updating to the most recent Intel HD Graphics driver did not resolve the issue. Rolling back to the previous version of Windows 10 resolved the issue.

Hi,

I wish to play at my old game The Battle for Middle-earth II: The Rise of the Witch-king on my Lenovo Yoga 920 that has the Intel UHD Graphics 620. Is there any old GPU driver version that would support it? I would be surprised, but couldn't be so sure without asking. Or else, could the next driver update support it?

Thank you

Hello,

I have a NUC7i7BNH with Iris® Plus Graphics 650 v24.20.100.6025 driver.

I use 2 screens, the first one is plugged with HDMI cable, the 2nd one with USB Type-C.

Windows 10 is set to turn off the screens after 4h.

When I get back from this sleep mode, only the screen plugged with HDMI cable wakes up, the 2nd one always remains off.

I need to unplug it and plug it again to get it on.

Is there a solution please ?

My screens are both ASUS VX239H.

Thanks.

How can I connect to an Apple Thunderbolt Display

$

I have a laptop (a Lenovo Yoga 920) with Thunderbolt ports powered by an Intel Thunderbolt JHL6540 chip, which gets identified as a 15D2 controller.

When I plug in an Apple Thunderbolt Display, I am asked whether to connect to the display, but then nothing happens and the display doesn't turn on.  There must be something missing, but what?  I'm running driver 17.1.64.6, which is current, under Windows 10 Home 1709.

The same display (and Thunderbolt 3-to-2 converter) works with a Dell laptop that contains an older Intel Thunderbolt chip running an older driver, so it is possible to make this work under Windows 10.

HD 4600 driver and Windows 1803 - when will there be a solution?

$
0
0

I've search the forums and found numerous posts about blank window issues with the HD 4600 and the latest Windows update (1803 / April 2018 update).

So far there seem to be no solutions.  Proposals range from asking to install the vendor-optimized driver - which doesn't make a difference (all drivers, vendor optimized or not, suffer from the exact same symptoms and likely from the exact same root cause - people with Dells, HPs and NUCs report the exact same problem), telling us to update to a more recent CPU (which is useless as it practically means replacing the entire motherboard, or in case of all-in-ones - the entire computer), and all the way to telling us to downgrade to an older version of Windows - which is quite impractical, considering Microsoft pushed these updates pretty relentlessly.

It's very clear that there's a problem with (at least) the HD 4600 and the latest driver (15.40.38.4963), and it's very clear it has nothing to do with vendor-specific optimizations.

Can we get some concrete timeline on when it will be fixed?  And if, for some reason, the current decision is not to fix it - figure out what needs to be done in order to change this decision?  Forcing who-knows-how-many-people to throw their computers away because of a minor update to Windows is, simply put, unacceptable.

Thanks,

Zeev

Just installed the latest Graphics driver (....6136) for my HD 530 system (Gigabyte Z170X UD5 Board), 2 monitors 32GB Corsair Vengeance Ram 3200

When the XMP profile is activated the screen repeatedly turns off for a few seconds then the image returns for a few minutes then the cycle starts again. This did not happen with the previous drivers.

If I turn off the XMP profile the system is stable.

Any ideas?

Black (filled with windows background image) screen on submonitor HD630

Hello!

We are using video surveillance software with fullscreen mode on 3 monitors, connected to HD630 (Intel i7 7th generation) with Intel HD Graphics driver version 15.60.2.4901 and after startup all submonitor's screens become filled windows background color (black in my case). Seems like the window on the screen become fully transparent, but looks like any actions on transparent window's elements is working.

Main monitor's screen stay OK.

We also reproduced that issue on HD630 on i5-7500 and i7 6-th generation with 15.60.2.4901 driver version. Driver version 22.20.16.4664 do not have this problem.

As we check, all versions newer than 4664 do have this problem.

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Could you please help with the problem?

Washed out colors on external monitor

$

When I plug my external monitor into my laptop over using a USB C/Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter the colors are washed out. When I'm plugged the built-in HDMI port everything is fine. This doesn't affect the built-in display.

The major difference between the two configurations appears to be that when I use the built-in port the Nvidia graphics card drives the display, but when I'm running over Thunderbolt the onboard Intel graphics chip is driving the display.

Now, the really crazy part is that if I open up the Intel Graphics Settings > Display > General Settings and I change any option then immediately hit Cancel it fixes the colors. The next time I reconnect the display or reboot the machine colors will be washed out again.

I took a quick video with my phone. It's super fuzzy, but you can see that I change the scaling setting from Maintain Display Scaling to Maintain Aspect Ratio, then just click Cancel. The display gets noticeably darker as the colors get fixed.

I've updated both Intel and Nvidia graphics drivers (24.20.100.6025 and 397.64 respectively). Tried a different Thunderbolt adapter. Tried playing with the color range in the Intel settings. I've also noticed the Video settings seem to do nothing, so the color range settings probably aren't even taking effect.

I suspect there's a bug in the Intel driver.
