Incorrect mode detection by HD4600 for LG Ultrawide display

I have an HP Envy 700 desktop computer using integrated graphics in Core i7-4770 through an onboard DVI port. The video driver version is 10.18.10.3960 (latest), OS is Windows 8,1 Pro.

The problem appears when connected to the DVI input of my 21:9 ultrawide LG 29MA73V display. I am using the supplied dual-link DVI cable, and Windows does not offer me to choose the native 2560x1080 resolution, only 1920x1080. Furthermore, when I try to make a custom video mode for this resolution, Intel driver says "insufficient bandwidth" and declines to accept it.

When I connect to the HDMI input of the same display using DVI-HDMI cable, resolution 2560x1080 appears in the list of supported resolution and everything works okay. Both times I am using the same DVI output on the mainboard of my PC.

I attach two reports by Intel driver - one for DVI connection, when 2560x1080 is not present, and one for HDMI connection, when resolution 2560x1080 is present and works perfectly. I noticed that EDIDs from these two different ports of the display are different, HDMI one is bigger, but both of them seem to contain information on the supported 2560x1080 mode.

Intel HD Graphics 4000 and The Sims 2

Hi!

I have a problem with the game The Sims 2. When I had Windows 8, the game worked fine, but I updated to Windows 8.1 and I had to update the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers too because the game didn't work anymore. And now there's a black rectangle under the sims feet:

http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/6/7/8/3/5/1/3/MTS_00harris00-1390662-Screenshot.jpg

That black rectangle is supposed to be the shadow. If I set it to "medium", the rectangle goes away, but there's no shadow either.

Any help would be appreciated.

HD 2500 graphics drivers crash in Win 7 Home Premium so can only use Standard VGA Driver

I've just bought this PC second hand and it has a fresh Win 7 Home Premium OS on it. However I noticed it didn't run Aero. When I looked closer it was because the graphics adapter was just Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. So I tried to update it with the latest drivers, but when I reboot it crashes shortly after the initial splash screen.

I have the DQ77CP board, an i5 3470 CPU. I'm sure this has the HD2500 integrated graphics on it and that's what I've tried updating it with - even using Intel's own driver update utility.

What can I do to install the correct graphics drivers so it doesn't crash? Thanks.

Intel HD-series Contrast Problem... blooming / overly bright areas - How to fix?

$

I have now tried three different computers (all laptops)... different makes and models - two have Intel video, and one has AMD.

I hooked all of these up to a 2nd screen - a new DLP projector.

The Intel, in many scenes, unwatchable.

AMD laptop is 100% fine, video looks beautiful in all cases. Color and Contrast is perfect.

Both Intel laptops (HD3000 & HD4400) have a huge and same exact problem... massive light blooming in the bright areas of the screen.

... scenes with windows where light comes through, bright room lights (ceiling, walls, etc) and even light that reflects off people's faces end up white or yellow-white and shiny

... scenes where there are not bright white or yellow areas the contrast and colors look great.

I have done numerous searches over the past two months and found most people saying to turn off Adaptive Contrast and Power Savings. Both are off. I turns off ALL enhancements I could find in all menus. Noe of this helped at all.

Anyone here know how to fix this issue?

thank you for the help!

Clear Video specifications?

Hi All,

I'm targeting Intel HD Graphics devices with Clear Video-conformant H.264 encodes, but can't proceed any further without detailed Clear Video specifications. The reason is that according to preliminary testing, Clear Video does not support all available H.264 profile and level combinations, and within a particular level it might not even support all allowed combinations of resolution, maximum DPB etc.

Therefore I need the official Intel specification to see exactly which H.264 configurations are supported and which not. Searching the Intel web site for over a day yielded nothing beyond this unimpressive gem: Intel® Clear Video HD Technology: Specifications.

I'd be grateful for any pointers to detailed official Clear Video specifications that clearly identify supported H.264 configurations and/or additional constraints. At this point I'm focusing specifically on the HD3000 graphics controller, but any additional information will be more than welcome.

Many thanks in advance,

Francois

HD4600 - Random Cut to Black

$

I am having a problem using the onboard intel HD4600 of my Gigabyte Z87-HD3.

Randomly during use the screen will cut to black the AV amp shows no audio in and then everything returns a second later.

This is very annoying.

My system is as follows:

Gigabyte Z87-HD3

i5-4430

Windows 8.1 Pro x64

Connected to:

Onkyo TX-NR515 via HDMI. (Which is connected to a Sharp LED TV)

Originally my problem was the well documented issue whereby on turning the Amp / TV off but leaving the PC on I would not get sound back unless I rebooted the PC when turning the AMP / TV back on.

I updated the drivers to the latest version and the BIOS to the latest version. This solved the above.

I am not sure if my random cut to black problem is since this update or not. I never really got to use the PC much for video before the fix.

Would appreciate any pointers.

I have tested the TV/Amp with another PC and a Blu-Ray player, it never does this then.

OpenGL related driver bug

Hello,

I use OpenTK to develop an OpenGL based application for Windows. I use vertex buffer objects to upload vertex data. The problem is that the Intel driver graphics seems to have a bug because the OpenGL function: "GetBufferParameter" does not return the correct buffer size. I've already described my problem the OpenTK community, but they pointed me to this forum because they think its a driver bug.

The full problem can be found here: GetBufferParameter behaves strangely | OpenTK

I use Windows 7 and have a Intel® HD Graphics 3000. Driver is 9.17.10.3517

Help would be really appreciated.

Intel HD 4000 No Display after loading Windows 7

$

I have a new build. Its a 3770k with an Asrock Fatal1ty Professional and 16Gb of Mushkin memory.

The computer has been working great all week. Then all of a sudden today after switching my display via a button on the front from VGA to DVI between my old rig and my new rig the screen no longer displays on my new rig. I also have 2 keyboards on my desk and may have hit a hot key and changed something, I'm not sure.

I have tried Windows Key + P to change to projection mode and get nothing.

After rebooting the screen works until after the windows 7 loading icon disapears then the screen goes into power save mode.

When booting into safemode the screen works fine.

When changing the resolution and then booting back out of safemode the screen does not load.

When deleting the Intel HD 4000 driver and restarting then the screen will load.

After reinstalling the Intel HD 4000 Driver the screen nolonger loads.

I don't know why its doing this but I am no longer able to use the HD 4000 with my intel driver installed. Which renders onboard video pretty much useless for anything but basic functions.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the driver and also the monitor and its driver as well.

Nothing seems to work.

Is there some kind of keyboard shortcut to change display ports? I'm currently on HDMI and my board has both HDMI and displayport. I have no way to test if its working with the display port. Also I am using an HDMI to DVI cable already.

This is just really odd seeing how everything was working preffectly fine then all of a sudden, nothing just blank.

I can hear the computer load, even the sound. I can even type and login, but I'm unable to see anything.

Also I have tried to set onboard video as default in my bios and still nothing will load as long as the Intel HD4000 driver is installed.

I have tried two different drivers versions, they both do the same thing.

Any suggestions would be greatfull thanks.

Official Black-screen thread - We need your help!

Hello Graphics Communities!

For a very long time now we've been trying to track down, diagnose, and correct an issue that seems to be happening all across the board with Intel® Graphics.  Users, for various reasons - seem to have issues with OEM systems (and Intel® NUC's) losing their display for different events.

  • Installing new drivers
  • Rebooting
  • Computers idling, going into sleep or hibernation
  • Other random events

We have run into a stumbling block in fixing this issue, and that is that we are unable to reproduce the symptoms above.  We have ordered exact-matching systems, displays and cables - and matched our configurations to those of the users having problems, and we are completely unable to reproduce the problem.  The issue is complex, but in this particular case - it stems from the fact that two users with the same configuration are not guaranteed to have the problem, it varies from user to user, system to system, display to display.

What we at Intel® are asking now though is 2-fold.  If you are one of these users (or a business) experiencing a consistent black-screening issue as mentioned above, we would like to procure your COMPLETE system configuration.  This means, we want you to ship us (at our expense) - the System (desktop or laptop), display (TV, monitor) AND the cable (hdmi, dp, dvi, vga) used by your system when it starts to have a blackscreen failure.  If you are willing to do this, you should be aware that we will keep your system for an extended period, and will compensate you by replacing your setup.

NOW!  Even if you are not willing to send us your system, and would just like to inform us that you have a black-screen issue.  That is okay too. Even if you have already submitted this info in some of our other black-screen threads, feel free to submit it here too.  Please submit the following information into this thread so that we can continue to document all possible instances of it.  Just copy and paste the below list and put in relevant information (completely!).  *NOTE* If you have not already done so, please update your BIOS and Display Driver to the latest version available.  We cannot accept a report of a failing configuration that is not up to date.  Additionally, if you are running your display through a 3rd party device such as a projector or an AV/R (receiver), you need to show that the problem still occurs without the extra device connected (a direct connection from system to display is required).

Are you willing to send your system to us? (Yes/No)
Is your system a laptop or desktop?
If desktop, is it custom built, or manufactured?
If desktop, what is the make/model of your motherboard?
What is the make/model of your system? (COMPLETE model name required)
What is the model of your CPU?
What is the make/model of your failing display(s)?
If laptop, is your built-in display failing? (Yes/No)
What is your operating system?
Is it a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system?
What display driver version do you have installed?
What type of connection are you using? (HDMI, VGA, DP, DVI?)
What happens that results in the blackscreen failure?

Any/all information is valuable.

Thank you for your information & cooperation!

-Nic

The problem is in dynamic lightning. For example, lagging Half-Life 1 and Counter strike 1.6 in opengl.

Graphics problem.

Hi everyone, I'm new and have a problem with a Sony Vaio Laptop Model SVE151D11M That I purchased off eBay.

It was supposed to have  a  2.40MHz, 3Gen Processor, 8 Gb Ram, and HD4000 Graphics Chip.

I went onto the intel site and used the 'auto detect' driver update system to update the Chipset and Graphics drivers.

After this however, when I looked into Device Manager, the HD chip was identified as a HD3000, not the HD4000 I was supposed to have?

Also the processor is listed s a 2nd Gen 2.3MHz?

Is it possible to accidently install a HD3000 Driver onto a HD4000 chip from the Intel site?

I wondered if it was something I did wrong, and now the HD4000  thinks its a HD3000.

The seller says it's my fault, and I have damaged the Laptop! Won't accept return.

I think I have been mislead over the Laptop spec.

Thanks for any helpful comments.

Forced 1080i in some DX11 games is causing screen flicker.

$
0
0

Hey Folks,

When loading DX11 games in full-screen at 1920x1080, the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel sometimes forcefully changes the video output to 60i Hz from 60p Hz. As a result, it causes horrible screen flicker. Changing the game to run in windowed mode returns it to 60p Hz and removes the flicker, as does changing the resolution from 1920x1080 to something else. This is only noticeable on the SECOND screen, which is a plug 'n play standard 1080p monitor.

PC Specification:

Graphics: GTX 880m (running driver 337.50 beta - no alternative version available yet) & Intel HD 4600 integrated (running latest drivers).

CPU: Intel i7 4910MQ 2.90 GHz.

RAM: 16GB DDR3.

2nd Monitor: 24" 1080p LED screen operating at 60Hz connected via DisplayPort -> HDMI (though HDMI -> HDMI makes no difference).

OS: Windows 7 Pro SP1.

Why would the Intel drivers be automatically forcing my resolution to 1080 interlaced when the monitor can (and does) support 1080 progressive in every other context?

Thanks.

iris pro 5200 4k60 with up2414q driver issues

$

Hi,

My setup is:

-Gigabyte Brix pro i7 4770R

-Windows 7 64-bit

-Dell up2414q monitor connected with a DisplayPort cable

I would like to have the full resolution of 3840x2160 @ 60Hz. The display is 10-bit capable as well, I would like this to work but will settle for 8-bit.

With Intel HD graphic driver 10.18.10.3282 installed from the Gigabyte website:

-The monitor appears as two monitors

-Both tiles appear as 1920x2160 @ 60Hz

-I can run it in extended mode

-I tried using the Intel collage mode, but the first time it cause the BSOD, and the other times the driver just crashes when you hit apply

-If it Intel collage mode had worked I think this would have everything working like I want

With the newest Intel HD graphic drivers 15.36.7.64.3960 or the previous 15.36.3.64.3907

-The monitor appears as one 3840x2160 panel

-In the Intel control panel I can set it to 3840x2160 at 60Hz

-The monitor indicates it is receiving a 60Hz signal

-Moving the mouse around looks like 30Hz, much much less smooth than when running in extended mode under 10.18.10.3282

-Running Dxdiag.exe, and looking under display shows a resolution of 3840x2160 at 30Hz :-(

So to summarise, running the previous driver proves that the iris pro 5200 can drive the monitor at the full 3840x2160 @ 60Hz. I just can't get it to show it as one big screen, only two seperate monitors. And the newest drivers seem to have some weird issues.

Any help appreciated. It's a bit frustrating having such a monitor and not being able to use it as it was intended due to some software bug.

Thanks,

Deeksie
