Dell XPS 14 (L421x) + Intel HD 4000 + Windows 8.1 - Brightness control problem

$

Hello,

I've got the problem with brightness control on my laptop. Now it's only 100% brightness and all methods from this forum or other else doesn't resolved this issue.

When I try to increase\decrease brightness (Fn+F4 \ Fn+F5) - it's changed only in Windows settings (see attached fig.1)

1. Adaptive brightness in Windows Power settings is SWITCHED OFF.

2. When I choose the Default Windows video driver - brightness control works perfect.

3. With Windows 8 and old Intel driver - it was worked, but now it's Widows 8.1)

So, I'm sure the issue with Intel HD 400 drivers. Please help me to resolve!

Configuration:

Dell XPS 14 (L421x)

Intel HD 4000 driver 10.18.10.4061

Windows 8.1 x64

Driver has stopped and successfully recovered when trying to use photoshop cc with windows 8.1

I am using photoshop CC and MOST of the time when i start the program  my computer flashes that the intel display driver was stopped and successfully recovered. I can use photoshop but when i check the performance settings it is listing my intel intergrated card as the graphic card. This laptop is a brand new asus with a nvidia geforce 745m running windows 8.1.  Sometimes it will start and the nvidia will work fine. As always, every manufacturer blames everyone else. Nvidia says its ASUS. ASUS says its not them blah blah. I have downloaded the latest drivers for nvidia. Downloaded intel drivers. There is no rhyme or reason as to when it will work. Asus computers arent able to turn off the intergrated card according to them. I have used the nvidia control center to tell photoshop to use the nvidia card but it doesnt help.

Intel HD Graphics 4400 crashing even with the latest driver 15.36.14.4080 when opening Photoshop

I'm facing a widely reported age old driver crash issue for Intel HD Graphics 4400 in my new Dell Inspiron 5537 laptop.

When I open Photoshop CC 2014 (latest build) - GPUSniffer try to calculate the CLBandwidth of Intel HD 4400 graphics card and the program hangs. Intel HD driver crashes and system message pops up with "Display driver stopped responding and recovered" (disabling Open GL and Graphics Processor in Photoshop). Interesting point is, if I restart my laptop - it all runs well; but after a shut down same situation reappears.

Most Importantly I'm using latest driver from Intel (Version 10.18.14.4080 aka 15.36.14.4080 - dated 05-01-2015).

Is there anyway to get rid of this??

Intel HD Graphics 4000 scaling does not work

How can you remove this scaling nonsense from graphics ?

It does not work in all applications, fx. in "Company of Heroes 2" program it just adds giant black borders instead of the selected resolution in the application´s video options. It is possible to change the desktop resolution first and then run "Company of Heroes 2" with matching resolution, but it´s a nuisance.

You can select to center image of desktop in intel graphics advance settings control panel scaling with a low resolution and then you get a tiny desktop on a large black screen. It obviously effects the default settings for windows that don´t have this useless setting. So how can you get the intel hd graphics driver without this scaling crap, so applications can run normal also in lower resolutions ?

Intel HD Graphics 4000 and The Sims 2

Hi!

I have a problem with the game The Sims 2. When I had Windows 8, the game worked fine, but I updated to Windows 8.1 and I had to update the Intel HD Graphics 4000 drivers too because the game didn't work anymore. And now there's a black rectangle under the sims feet:

http://thumbs2.modthesims2.com/img/6/7/8/3/5/1/3/MTS_00harris00-1390662-Screenshot.jpg

That black rectangle is supposed to be the shadow. If I set it to "medium", the rectangle goes away, but there's no shadow either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Problem updating Intel HD 4000 Drivers

Hello,

When I try to update the Intel HD 4000 Driver with the 15.33.32.64.4061 version either with the Driver Update Utility or manually with the driver page download it installs version 10.18.10.4061 and after installing it it says it is outdated.

Anyone knows how to install the new driver?

Try to reinstall HD4000 and message says my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements

I uninstalled the HD4000 driver because it has been marked as damaged and disconnected for awhile. I found the correct driver for 64 bit, Windows 8.1 system and when I try to install, it goes through the motions and then tells me my computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements and it doesn't install. Help? I think this missing driver is the reason why I can't connect a second monitor to do my contract work and I really need this to work. I have always used a second monitor with my laptop - this Dell Inspiron 15z Core i5 laptop - and then, it stopped. Anyone? I am savvy but I am not an IT and I just don't have the money to take this in, so trying to troubleshoot and repair myself. Thanks.

I can get video output through my HDMI port on my N5110 but not audio.  A very thorough online search discovered that others have had this problem, but I saw no real solution for my situation.  Some have suggested going to Hardware and Sound > Playback and selecting an entry that says Digital Audio (HDMI).  That’s quite reasonable but unfortunately such an entry does not appear. I right-clicked in that tab and both “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices” are checked.

I have a Dell 15R N5110 with an Intel HD Graphics 3000 display adapter integrated in the i3-2350 CPU chip.  Under “Sound, video and game controllers” it shows IDT High Definition Audio CODEC and Intel Display Audio.  I updated the driver for the display adapter from the Intel website to the latest one available (Version 9.17.10.4101, 1/30/2015).  I used Windows 7 to search for driver updates for the other two devices and got the message that the drivers were up to date.  The problem remains.

According to the Intel site, the version of the driver for the display adapter works with Windows 8, but I assume it is backward compatible with Windows 7.  Nevertheless, I went ahead and installed an older version of the driver (8.15.10.2361) from the Dell website.  Intel says this version number is for Windows 7 drivers. This didn’t change anything that I already noted above.

An Intel webpage about this problem, “No Audio Through My HDMI Cable,” (http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-030039.htm?wapkw=intel+display+audio+windows+7), that says it applies to “2nd Generation Intel® Core™ Processors with Intel® HD Graphics 3000/2000” displays a screen shot of the Playback tab of the Sound control panel that includes entries for Digital Audio (HDMI).  The fact that such entries do not appear in my computer makes me wonder whether there is something unique to Dell’s N5110 (and perhaps other models) that will not permit audio through HDMI.

Before posting this, I tried an online chat with an Intel graphics rep.  No luck there.  He just reminded me that computer makers design their products with their own features, settings, and capabilities, and that I should contact Dell.  I’m out of warranty, and it would cost me to talk with a Dell support person.  I’d do it, but I’ve not had very good luck with them before, so I don’t want to waste my money.

I eagerly await any thoughts or suggestions you might have about any of this.

Trouble Installing new drivers

I have tried several methods: the standard update driver option through the device manager; installing the driver using the .exe; installing the driver then rebooting then hitting update; also tried locating the driver that I downloaded but it can’t locate the exe.  Essentially I need a way to overwrite the existing driver with the new driver by forcing it to use the new version.

My driver version is 10.18.10.3345, and I know there is an update because when I search the GPU it says the current version is 15.  If I try to install that it gives me an error.  My GPU is Intel HD Graphics 4000.  If in anyway can some one help me.

HOPEFULLY this is in the right spot this time and won't get deleted.  (I'm New Here, Sorry) ASUS BP1AD From Best Buy.  Intel HD 4600 Graphics on Board.  Your Intel Website says that card supports 3 independent displays. Reference http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033714.htm - (Specifically, that's the reason I bought that box with that card). Have three identical monitors.  All three equipped with HDMI, DVI, VGA.  HD4600 Card has HDMI, VGA, DVI.  Have one monitor each on DVI, HDMI, VGA.  WILL "NOT" Support three monitors.  Checked in Bios for options, checked drivers for updates.  It will recognize all three devices connected, if I disable one, (edit for clarity: It will recognize any two I choose...but not three) but it will NOT function as that link says it will and do three at one time.  Please advise.

It's there any chance that hd3000 will be updated to wddm 1.3?

Intel HD 4600 (10.18.14.4080) Win 8.1 x64 Outlook 2013 x86 White Screen

Hello,

We have strange issue with Outlook 2013 x86 on Windows 8.1 x64.  Parts of the Outlook 2013 Interface will not render,  instead white zones or black zones appear on the screen.  keyboard shortcuts work, but closing and re-opening Outlook is the only way to get rid of the problem.  I have attached a sample screen capture Blue blocks cover confidential data.

A similar post has been made here : Intel HD 4600 and Outlook 2013 - white screen

But no clear solution has been posted.

We have seen the issue with the following driver versions :  10.18.10.341210.18.10.3960 and the new 10.18.14.4080  version.

We have updated the BIOS of Lenovo M93p to the lastest firmware which include the Intel VBIOS 1030.

Read me notes for 15.36.7.64.3960 had in Key issues fixed the following note :  Fixed an issue where display screen was corrupted while Using Microsoft Outlook* application for more than an hour while other applications are running in the background.  Are you 100% sure this issue has been fixed ?.  We are using all Office 2013 products with video acceleration disabled as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2768648

We have also tried a few variations in the our BIOS settings,  change the default  Pre-Allocated Memory Size from 32M to 512M,  Nothing has helped.

Intel is this still any issue ? and when can we get a fix ?

latest hd3000 drivers not WDDM1.3 for Windows 8.1 - DX10 assessment 0 in WEI

I have a notebook pc with Intel i7-2670QM processor which is equipped with HD3000 graphics. The WEI score in windows 8.1 64 bit shows:

<Dx10SubScore>0</Dx10SubScore>

meaning the tests for DX10 are skipped completely by winsat.

I have the latest hd3000 drivers for windows 8.1 and, by looking at dxdiag, turns out that the drivers is WDDM1.2 and not WDDM1.3 as required by Windows 8.1.

So I must conclude these drivers are not using the DX10 functionality under Windows 8.1 64.

Intel drivers are:

Only 2.0 sound (via HDMI) from Asus H87M-E motherboard combined with Intel i3-4130 processor

My HTPC (Asus H87M-E with Intel i3-4130) is combined with a Denon AVR3313 and a Samsung TV (all connections HDMI).

In the past I could play 5.1 channel sound with this system. But starting some months ago that wasn't possible anymore. I tried a lot of things (drivers, sound setting in control panel, fresh Windows 8.1; 64 bit installation) but I cannot find the origin of this malfunction.

When I choose in sound settings the Denon / Intel Display Driver and I choose a 5.1 channel operation I obtain the message that the system only supports a 2.0 channel operation.

I have installed the 15.36.14.64.4080 driver (Intel Display Audio Driver: 6.16.0.3161 and  the Intel HD graphics 4400 driver: 10.18.14.4080) at the moment.

The most recent Realtek audio driver (from Asus) is also installed but I have chosen the Denon / Intel Display Driver in the sound settings.

How can I solve my problem??
