Feature Request - implement EDID override

$
0
0

Hello,

it would be nice if the Intel Graphics driver would support overriding EDID information like described in this document from Microsoft:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg487330

Why is this needed?

In a common HTPC (multimedia PC) setup with a PC, AVR (audio video receiver) and a television, the EDID information stored in the receiver & television that is passed to the PC determines the video and audio capabilities like: supported resolutions, supported audio formats etc ..

The problem is that very often the system only "sees" the EDID information of the television, and not that of the receiver, and so you don't get support for audio formats like DTS, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD that are supported by the receiver ...

The latest Sandy bridge CPU and corresponding chipset support all these sound standards, but they often not useable cause of these EDID problems.

Actually it really does not matter what video card / integrated graphics you use, NVidia and AMD graphics have the same problem, but their drivers

allows people to override the EDID information like is described in the above linked document from Microsoft.

Please implement this stuff, shouldn't be that hard to do, for one of you senior driver programmers it's probably just a few hours of work ...

Thank you

Christian

problem with VGA port HD 4400

I have a Lenovo z50-70 laptop with an Intel HD 4400 and an nvidia 820M.

the CPU is an i7 4510U @ 2.60GHz and 16GB of RAM, and my OS is Windows 10 Home 64bit.

I am experiencing problems when I plug in an external monitor via the VGA port on the laptop.

the monitor will constantly flicker on and off every 2-15 seconds. this does not happen when a

screen is plugged in through HDMI. I have tried with several different screens and it is always

the same, the screen will flicker off and on when connected to the VGA port.

I have tried updating both the drivers for the geforce 820M and the drivers for the intel 4400 and the problem persists

(I tried the latest version as well as the recent beta version).

I ended up downgrading the drivers to the version currently offered for the laptop on the lenovo website

http://support.lenovo.com/es/es/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-z-series-laptops/lenovo-z50-70/downloads/DS103952

but the problem remains. is there any way to fix this, or do I have to wait until this is addressed in a possible driver update?

EDIT: in case it isn't clear in the post, the monitor that flickers is the external monitor plugged in via VGA port. the laptop's display

has no problems whatsoever.

Mouse lag Intel HD 1000 with external monitor Windows 10

Hi, I have problem with mouse lag when connected monitor in extended mode to my notebook. I know that in newer HD error was fixed after driver update, but HD1000 haven't any new drivers since 2012. I tried to turn off mouse delay in Windows 10 Settings, nothing changed. The only workaround for this error is to change cursor theme to black. (tried install non default cursors theme, but they're lagging too). Black cursors are ugly and I don't want it. What can I do to fix default white cursor theme or non default cursors theme.

Intel, Please make this a priority! This is not just the 520 and 530 this is happening to a lot of other drivers. Please send us an official update through the Intel Driver Update Utility! My computer was expensive. I don't think i will be able to return it. This happens twenty-thirty times in a day! It's been 5 months and still no update to fix this problem. I am getting extremely frustrated with waiting around and getting no help and no answers. Please HELP!!

I am having a problem with Intel HD Graphics Drivers crashing and recovering on a new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga (Windows 10, 64 bit).  This appears to be a problem many others are having on different machines.  The current driver on my machine is the Intel HD graphics 520.  When I try to install the beta driver manually, following the instructions you have posted on this site, my computer tells me that "the best driver software for your device is already installed.  Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date.  Intel (R) HD Graphics 520."  For what it's worth, the crashing/recovery of the driver seems to be happening primarily when I use Corel WordPerfect.  But it's happening frequently enough that it's a serious nuisance.  Please advise.

The Mouse Pointer for Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit Build 10586 in the Boot Manager is not displayed as a Mouse Pointer.

Hi All,

I have an ASUS Motherboard P8B75-M/CSM with built-in Intel Graphics w/ Intel Core i3 Processor 3.30 Ghz Speed. The Graphics Version is win64_153338.

I am not having any crashes or lockups or freezes because of the Graphics on this computer, however I lost the Mouse Pointer from the Windows Boot Manager for the operating systems.

The Mouse Pointer had been available until Build 10532 was installed.

Using WagnardMobile DDU Utility and removing the Intel Graphics, which needs to be done to remove Windows.old Folder, the Mouse Pointer shows up again in the Windows Boot Manager. When I reinstall or upgrade the Intel Graphics, the Mouse Pointer is missing again.

What setting do I need to change to restore the Mouse Pointer to the Windows Boot Manager?

We have a problem on Windows whereby when you enumerate the pixel formats, that the number of pixel formats returned depends upon the specifics of how the hDC was created. For example,

We have a problem on Windows where when you enumerate pixel formats, that the number and type of pixel formats returned depends on how the hDC was created which was passed in.  For example, if I use this:

hCDC = CreateDC( "DISPLAY", "", "", NULL );

I will get 36 pixel formats in the enumeration.  But if I use this:

hCDC = GetDC(NULL);

I instead get 51 pixel formats returned.  If I create an hWnd and then pass that in to GetDC(), I also get 51 pixel formats.

This problem seems to be specific to Intel HD Graphics.  My laptop has the 3000, and I updated to the latest drivers from Dell.

If I enumerate pixel formats on machines with any other video card, I get the same number of pixel formats returned.  And if I switch the laptop over to use the nVidia graphics processor, I also get the same number of pixel formats.

I am attaching a test program that I can run to demonstrate the issue.

Can anyone explain why it is that there is this difference?

9022966 - 78522 Artifacts/Corruption in WMC playing some Live HD channels

$

Here you go.

Description of issue:
Using Live TV in Windows Media Center to display the majority of my cable package's unencrypted HD channels produces a lot of visibly corrupt frames and audio glitches (the number of corrupt frames can be verified on the 411 debug menu). Not all of my HD channels have this issue -- some display with no corrupt frames. People have referred to this issue in the past as: checkerboard artifacts, block artifacts, glitches, stuttering, corrupt frames, etc.

Here's a screen capture of the issue (also attached):
https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/t31.0-8/10549941_10101457242087077_7535973812057508023_o.jpg

I get these gray and black corruption artifacts, appearing from the bottom of the screen every second or two, along with other MPEG-2 pixelation artifacts and audio stuttering.

When plugging in the very same external tuner and testing the very same channels on a different computer, I don't have this problem; this is how I know that the problem isn't anything to do with the cable signal.

I also don't think this is a Microsoft problem, as the channels in question display just fine on Windows Media Center on the different PC/laptop.

Furthermore, the HD 4600 itself can render some HD channels just fine, so I just don't think it's an issue of it not being powerful enough.

To be sure, the problem *isn't* the 29.97/59.94 frame rate switching issue that has plagued people in the past -- all of the channels in my case are at 59.94. The problem *isn't* the dynamic contrast setting in the HD Graphics Control Panel -- I have that turned off. The problem *isn't* only with 1080i channels -- it also occurs on 720p channels.

I have the latest Intel drivers installed.

I have the latest BIOS update from Lenovo installed.

I originally had a hunch that the issue might only occur on HD channels when they contained *more* than two audio channels in the broadcast signal, however, NBC6 in Miami, for example, which has 6 channels, doesn't always produce these corrupt frames, but has done so at times. Some channels more consistently produce corrupt frames than others, and usually these are ones more than 2 audio channels in the broadcast stream, but this may very well be a coincidence.

1.) Watch various HD channels in Live TV in Windows Media Center until you find one that displays this frame corruption.

2.) Once you see the frame corruption, you can type 411, then hit Ctrl-D, and use the right arrow key to go all the way to the right debug menu, where the "corrupt frame count" and "frame corruption rate" data are listed.
You can use the keyboard arrow keys to move left and then right again to have it update the data. You will see the frame corruption count increase whenever the glitching occurs in the picture.

Stretched graphics in one particular game - Intel HD Graphics 530 (i7 6700k)

Hello guys,

I have a problem with one particular game - Guild Wars, not Guild Wars 2. The original one.

Here's the screenshot for those who can't see the attachment.

http://postimg.org/image/f2kfu7zcp/

I've attached a screenshot from the game. It's disgusting. I'm pretty sure it's a driver/software issue since everything else is fine with the iGPU. Can't reproduce in any other environment.

Troubleshooting I did:

1. Tested with 4 other games - no issues
2. Tried all of the available drivers
3. Tested on both Windows 7 SP1 Windows 10
4. Changed various settings in the game

Motherboard - ASRock Z170 PRO4
CPU - INTEL I7 6700K
GPU - INTEL HD GRAPHICS 530
SSD - SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250GB

RAM - 16GB KINGSTON HYPER X

If Intel could roll out an updated driver for this, it would be heaven for me.

Waiting for suggestions and input!

Thanks in advance to everybody!

New PC Build - i5 6600k video dropout

Good morning,

I'm having issues with my new PC Build, where my monitor will simply go black at seemingly random times.  I am not currently running any video card, simply using the CPU onboard video.

On startup, it shows the MSI BIOS access/Boot screen, then windows 10 login.  Sometimes, the MSI screen will be flickering a (or multiple) green horizontal stripe(s), and the windows 10 login screen is simply black.  I can hear the usual startup noises, and the PC lights/fans etc. all seem to work as normal, but no video.  Nothing can be done, and after a number of restarts, everything seems to start up normally.

Other times, the screen may go black while in use.  For example, the other night playing hearthstone (with nothing else running in background), my screen would flicker black for 2-3 seconds, then come back.  While black, I could still hear the game music, but again, no video.  This happened several times in a row, every 30 seconds to minute, sometimes more frequently.

I cannot "force" this problem to reproduce itself on command, and I cannot exactly predict when it will happen.

It seems to be MOST frequent at either startup or wakeup.

Build details:

MSI Krait Gaming Z170A Mobo

Intel i5 6600k

Kingston 8GB RAM (DDR4/2666mhz)

Already updated, and running all current drivers.

Any thoughts?  Thanks all in advance.

Hallo Community,

Lightroom 'blue box': no hardware acceleration with video card

Hi, I recently purchased a Skylake processor: i5 6600 with the HD Graphics 530 gpu.

Lightroom has the option of using hardware acceleration and it needs at least OpenGL 3.3

As far as I know and what downloading the latest driver tells me, I have OpenGL 4.3

Reading the release notes of the driver, shows me some issues with other photo software, but noting with Lightroom, so I though perhaps it hasn't been noticed until now (something I cannot imagine).

Anyway, I couldn't find others with the same problem.

I'll attach the Lightroom-readings of the machine (not completely correct I think). I was mostly struck by the last few lines:

Build: Uninitialized

Direct2DEnabled: false

GPUDevice: not available

I downloaded the latest driver for the gpu:

I can imagine the solution should come from the Adobe-side, but you never know

Extended Desktop (PBP) - problem with scaling

Hello,

I have problem with scaling.

My Hardware: i7-6700K (intel HD 530 6th Gen), Asus P5B Deluxe (HDMI 2.0, Display Port 1.2), Windows 10 x64, connection to iiyama Prolite X4071UHSU-B1  with HDMI and Display Port 1.2 cable.

I set custom resolution to 1920x2160 (PBP) but it is not scaling to full:

Setting of 1920x2160 is missing in "Intel Settings" even though I made custom settings for resolution 1920x2160, 60Hz. Only possible to set 1920x2160 in windows 10 settings.

8159769 [SCALING BUG] Windows 10 / Intel HD Graphics 4600 - Impossible to get rid of 'Black Borders' problem - Stuck at 'Constrain proportions'

=== Device/Software information ===

32 GB DDR3L-1600 G-Skill RipJaws,

Intel Core i7-4710MQ

Intel HD Graphics 4600

Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M 4GB GDDR5

128 GB Samsung SSD (Boot)

1 TB Samsung Evo 850 (Games)

1 TB Hitachi HDD (Data)

Driver Version: 15.40.4.64.4256

OS Version: Windows 10 Educational

=== Problem Description ===

No matter what settings you choose for your display in Intel HD Graphics Control Panel -> Display -> Basic -> Scaling,

When you launch a fullscreen application the setting will be ignored and it will revert back to 'constrain propostions' when enabling fullscreen, then when you alt-tab to desktop it will go back to your selected mode, then you alt tab to game and it will go back to proportions setting again, making it impossible to get rid of the black borders.

The setting only is applicable in Windows 10 Desktop, doesn't work for fullscreen apps.

It worked good in Windows 8.1, I just upgraded from 8.1 to 10.

In windows 8.1 I could game on any resolution without black borders - a nice, full, filled screen.

I think I have the same issue as the sir here: Inter HD Graphics Scaling Games after Windows 10 upgrade

Please fix this ASAP or suggest steps to fix.

Problem does not happen without drivers (Driverless) -> Games run in full screen / fill screen mode at any resolution (so this is not a Windows bug).
