Display larger than screen size

$
0
0

I've just bought a NUC PC and started setting it up as a Media PC.  However, the desktop and any other screens are two wide and to high to fit in the monitor display area.  The Monitor is my SAMSung TV.

The Windows 10 start icon is too far to the right so can't be clicked on, the bottom task bar only shows 50% of it's height and the recycling bin is just visible of the top left corner.

The resolution is 1920 × 1080 as set by the graphics card.  The card can handle 4k according to the specs , so i'm not pushing it.
This is the correct resolution for the tv because i already have my own Home theater PC plugged in through the HDMI2 source and the HDMI 3 source is an xbox.  All these input sources are set to a resolution of 1
920 × 1080 and all working fine.

I've used the intel driver utility and upgraded all drivers to the latest.
There appears to be no fine adjustment on the graphics card to fix this issue.
Can any one assist.

Buenas,

Tarjeta madre Modelo: Intel DG41RQ

Tarjeta Video:GTX 750ti 2Gb Gddr5

Ya he hecho Clear Cmos

Ya he intentando cambiar la configuración de la BIOS para que coja directamente el PCI-E

Si Alguien sabe que puedo hacer para solucionar este problema y me puede ayudar se lo agradecería mucho.

Gracias,

DCS World from Eagle Dynamics does not render textures in HD 520 on Surface Pro 4

For some reason, the simulator made by Eagle Dynamics called DCS World 1.5.4 and DCS World 2.0 is not rendering any texture during a running simulation.

The simulation runs, but just no texture seems to be loaded or to be rendered. Don't know why and don't know if this is a GPU problem.

For clarity, i have added a picture that shows an airplane, but completely black, the air is black too, but clouds are rendered, and no ground textures...

This simulator runs perfectly on NVIDIA and AMD GPUs. For this test, i had configured all the settings on low, meaning, consume less memory, less complexity, no after processing etc.

Would appreciate if somebody from intel could have a look at this problem.

You can download DCS World for free from this web site:

www.digitalcombatsimulator.com

Download DCS world 1.5.4, install it, and just run a test mission.

If you run the mission using an NVIDIA GPU, you'll see the graphics, but when you run on an intel HD 5xx architecture, the simulation runs, there are graphics, but no textures.

50Hz custom screen mode

I have an Asus UX303UA laptop with Intel HD 520 graphics.  I would like to add a new custom screen mode: 1920 x 1080 at 50Hz. When I try to do that using the custom resolutions screen of the Intel control panel, I get the error 'exceeds maximum bandwidth capacity'.  This is nonsensical since a 60Hz mode at the same resolution already exists, and 50Hz would require less bandwidth.  Does anyone know how this mode could be created?

Application have been blocked from accessing display driver windows 10

Hi,

I have two major issues in my dell Inspiron series 15 laptop with windows 10 64 bit touch.

1. Display driver has stopped responding and recovered:

I tried to change TdrDelay file with higher value. also updated driver.

But the issue still persists.

2. Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware.

This error come very frequently while watchcing videos. It also appears randomly even when no load on display driver.

The system hangs when this error appears.

I tried running dell display check tests, but they could not catch this.

I am using 20.19.15.4300 version of driver. moving to latest version is making issue more worse.

This is annoying and not find any proper solution to this.

Please help.

Thanks,

Mitesh

Graphics HD update fails to install

WIN7 OS - Intel graphics HD download published 7/28/16, 147 mb downloaded but repeated tries to install fail.  Error code 80070103.  When I run check for updates, I'm told my Intel driver is up to date (10.18.10.3960).  .  Does this update apply?  If so, how to install it? If not, how can I delete it? I don't know the filename or location of the download.

I finally found the answer myself on the web.  Go to windows/software distribution/downloads and delete the contents.

No further answers needed.

Scaling defaults to Center Image using non-Intel display controls

Hello Bryce,

I have a similar (but not identical) issue to that described by Picklefork. I made my post here per your request to centralize in the other thread (Problem with Z3735F and scaling ), but please let me know if I should start a new thread.

I have an Acer Z1 all-in-one, with an Intel Celeron N2940 processor, Intel HD graphics driver 10.18.10.4425 (latest), running Windows 10 home, 64-bit, version 1607. The problem is that whenever I change resolution by a method OTHER than Intel's HD Graphics Control Panel (e.g., Windows Control Panel, within an application, within a game, etc.) the scaling ALWAYS defaults to "Center Image" and I end up with big black bars around the image. I can manually fix this by going into "Display Adapter Properties" and switching to "Maintain Display Scaling". However, the next time I try switching to the same resolution, the setting is "forgotten" and defaults to "Center Image" again:

My intel(r) Graphics control panel won't open

Hello,

I had to reset my laptop to the state, that every program was deleted and i kept my files.
After doing all the updates in windows 8 to upgrade to windows 8.1, i got the issue that my Intel(R) HD Graphics Control Panel won't open.
I checked the drivers and it says there are no updates for it. So right now i am kind of stuck on this problem, cause i want to use my laptop on my tv, but i can't calibrate the resolution to the right size.

Thanks, i hope that anyone can help me!

Hallo,

ASUS UX301LA Iris Graphics 5100 causes screen flicker

The screen flickering occurs under these conditions:

  • Laptop is not plugged in
  • Iris 5100 graphics is enabled (in device manager)
  • Windows Start Menu is not opened (the place with the apps and cortana when you press the windows key)

I have tried updating the the display drivers both via device manager and doing the auto search and by attempting manual install with an intel driver from intel's site. Interestingly enough, I have found that when I roll back the display driver via device manager the driver date is some date in April of 2016, but when I update to the latest, the driver date is some date in July of 2015. Very weird. And I am completely unable to manual install with intel's own drivers because "the computer is not validated for this driver, go to the manufacturer's website..." Asus doesn't seem to have any graphics drivers for the UX301LA on their site, either. I should also clarify that the issue persists regardless of which driver I use.

Screen flickering is 100% gone when I disable the Intel Iris 5100 Graphics in device manager.

And when I open the start menu (usually by pressing the windows key) the screen flickering immediately stops.

Anyone else with this problem, not even restricted to the zenbook?

Edit: Solved, apparently updating my BIOS did it. I was having a separate BIOS related issue as well regarding being stuck in a BIOS reboot loop when my laptop awoke from sleep.

Flickering screen (Windows 10) Driver update?

It appears I have fallen victim to the Windows 10 flickering screen.  According to what I have read, it appears to be a driver issue.  I have unistalled and re-installed and still have the same flickering issue.  I installed the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, and it says my driver is up-to-date.  I have the Intel HD 10.18.10.4425 and my processor is the Intel Core i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30 GHz.  What can I try to stop this flickering?

How can I use Deep Colour (10/12bpc = 30/36-bit color depth)?

$
0
0

First, education time, because most people still really don't get it.

1. Explanation of color depths

High Color (5/6-bit colour channels x RGB = 15 or 16-bit colour depth)
32,768 colours (15-bit depth) or 65,536 colours (16-bit colour depth)

  • Go back 15 years or so, and you might remember this as an option in Windows XP's display settings panel.
  • Nobody needs these modes any more

True Color (8-bit colour channels x RGB = 24-bit color depth). 32-bit colour is actually 24-bit colour with transparency)
8 bits of information per colour channel (24-bit color depth) =16.7 million colours.

  • Almost all computer displays and all current smartphone displays are 8-bit per channel.
  • Has been the standard for many years.
  • Each pixel's three colour channels (red, green, and blue) have 256 levels of gradation.
  • Often results in unsightly 'banding', particularly noticeable in gradients. Certain tricks have to be employed to avoid these colour problems.
  • Many video sources are 8-bit per RGB color channel

Deep Color (10/12/16-bit colour channels x RGB = 30/36/48-bit color depth)
10 bits of information per colour channel (30-bit color depth) = 1.08 billion colours.
12 bits of information per colour channel (36-bit color depth) = 68.71 billion colours.16 bits of information per colour channel (36-bit color depth) = 281.5 trillion colours.

  • Many modern monitors and almost all modern TVs are actually able to handle 10-bit
  • 10-bit is used in video formats (see Bluray or HEVC Main10)
  • Deep colour's higher colour count eliminates 'banding' and various other visual artifacts
  • 12-bit color is required for the HDMI definition of 'Deep Color'
  • In 10-bit colour, each pixel's three colour channels (red, green, and blue) have 1024 levels of gradation.

2. The problem I am facing

  1. How can I enable 10/12-bit color in linux? I am already running latest drivers on arch linux.
  2. What about OSX or Windows?
  3. Whoa, hang on, what the fu.. have I just found a PDF where you guys actually say there is NO OPTION despite full hardware/software support because there is 'no content'? What? I can't enable more accurate colour even though everything works, because Bluray 4K isn't out yet? Are you £$%ing serious?

    Page 10 >http://www.intel.co.uk/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/white-papers/deep-color-support-graphics-paper.pdf

This document details the _full support_ of deep colour, but that UI options don't exist - so how do I enable this in linux (of which intel drivers lack UI anyway)?

FFS Intel. The drivers situation is appalling.

    1. The driver versions ******** is still plaguing millions of machines

    2. Haven't implemented 'custom' resolutions/refresh rates in Windows. After 5 god forsaken years.

    3. And now, advertising features that should be supported BUT ARE DISABLED?

My stuff:

  • 10-bit yamakasi IPS 1440p monitor, 3x panasonic TVs supporting 30/36-bit colour (tested with bluray player test modes)
  • Intel i7 3667U laptop (DP)
  • Intel i7 4710MQ laptop (HDMI)
  • Intel i7 6560U laptop (DP)
  • Intel Celeron 3150N (HDMI or DP)
  • Windows 10
  • OSX (3667u)
  • Arch Linux (Celeron 3150N)

[9024844] Custom resolution not working

$
0
0

I emailed Intel Customer Support Service and they refer me to this forum because the agent say it will have the correct exposure to intel engineering department. (request # 8001214860)

The problem is Intel Graphics driver for HD 4600 (and presumably others too) have a broken custom resolution for Built in LCD. No matter what setting you put into it, it will always custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity.

I tested it on many different laptop with eDP (embedded displayport) like Alienware 17, Asus G751JM, Asus Q551LN, Lenovo Y50-70, Razer Blade 14, MSI GT60 Dominator Pro, and Gigabyte P34 and they all say custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity.

To establish the fact that bandwidth is not the problem, I tried creating a custom resolution at native res (1920x1080) at 59Hz (default is 60Hz) and it says custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity. To test it further I downscale the resolution to 1600x900 @ 59Hz and it still gives the error so I conclude the problem is with the driver itself.

I tried the oldest and newest driver from the OEM and the one on Intel website and they are all broken.

The problem is NOT ISOLATED on a laptop model or a manufacturer but the Intel Graphics driver itself.

In fact if you verify the problem by testing it on ANY laptop that has an Intel graphics and try to create a custom resolution that is 1Hz less than native (like 59Hz) and it will give you the same error.

So why does it matter? Almost every single gaming laptop that is being released are NVIDIA Optimus Enabled (Hybrid Graphics where Intel Graphics is handling the display) and it prevents people from changing the refresh rate of the display. As an example the LCD panel found on Asus G751JM-BHI7T25 uses LG LP156WF4 SPL1 which is the exact same panel found on Asus G751JY that comes at 75Hz by default, but we cannot change the refresh rate due to broken Intel Custom Resolution even though the LCD panel itself is more than capable to handle it.

Refresh rate is a huge feature as evident on monitors getting released (like BenQ XL2430T, Asus ROG Swift, Acer Predator, etc...) and if you ask any gamer that has tried a high refresh rate monitor they will tell you how much big of a difference it is and because of this issue, any gaming laptop that has Hybrid graphics (Intel Graphics enabled) is a HUGE deal breaker.

[Edit by Bryce@Intel]: Changed title to reflect investigation bug# and title.

Old title: Intel driver is completely broken (custom resolution)

Can I upgrade my HD Graphics 5500 to Iris?

I only found out about Intel Iris Graphics recently and I'm a little curious about it. Is it something built in or can I upgrade to it? Sorry if it's a dumb question. There's not a lot of discussion on this topic. Thank you!
