installed Need for Speed 2015 on pc and when I run it displays a driver error. The error says: Detected Intel driver version #1 9.18.13..2702 08/29/2013 #2 10.18.10.4358 12/21/2015. The recommended driver version is xx.xx.15.4251 or later. Please update your drivers at (intel website) before playing the game. I have downloaded the new drivers and installed them using the Intel Driver Utility 2.4. But then when the laptop restarts again after download and installation, the Intel Driver Utility says that I still have the old drivers installed in my pc.

My Laptop Specifications are:

Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.60GHz 2.60GHz

Nvidia GeForce GT 960M

16GB DDR3 Memory

Windows 8.1

Currently trying to run a game with OpenGl with no luck, apparently it uses 3.0 or 3.3 but the laptop screen just freezes.

According to my graphics card it states OpenGl - 4.4

But i'm not sure if this means it supports lower versions.. any ideas?

Also, driver is upto date - 21.x.x

Thanks guys.

Hello All,

When plugged in my dell inspiron 7000 (windows 10) brightness completely dims where it's difficult to use.  I believe it's due to intel's display power saving technology and I cannot find a way to completely disable this default feature.

  • I have disable adaptive brightness.
  • From intel graphics control panel, I have tried changing graphic power plans to maximum performance on both plugged in and battery.
  • I don't have display power saving technology on and off option in graphics control panel.

Any suggestions or solutions on this issue?

Thank You!

Feature Request - implement EDID override

$
0
0

Hello,

it would be nice if the Intel Graphics driver would support overriding EDID information like described in this document from Microsoft:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg487330

Why is this needed?

In a common HTPC (multimedia PC) setup with a PC, AVR (audio video receiver) and a television, the EDID information stored in the receiver & television that is passed to the PC determines the video and audio capabilities like: supported resolutions, supported audio formats etc ..

The problem is that very often the system only "sees" the EDID information of the television, and not that of the receiver, and so you don't get support for audio formats like DTS, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD that are supported by the receiver ...

The latest Sandy bridge CPU and corresponding chipset support all these sound standards, but they often not useable cause of these EDID problems.

Actually it really does not matter what video card / integrated graphics you use, NVidia and AMD graphics have the same problem, but their drivers

allows people to override the EDID information like is described in the above linked document from Microsoft.

Please implement this stuff, shouldn't be that hard to do, for one of you senior driver programmers it's probably just a few hours of work ...

Thank you

Multiple Screen Issues with HD 4400

I have a Dell Inspiron 5537 with the HD4400 video card. I use MediaShout for presentations and it can provide a "Stage Display" 3rd screen via a DisplayLink
USB adapter. It worked fine with Win 8.1 and Win 10, but when reverting back to Win 8.1 (clean install) the video card no longer lets me re-order the screens (1. Laptop, 2. Main screen, 3. Rear screen via DisplayLink)

Win 10 had other issues but the screens worked fine. I have the latest DisplayLink driver (tried the previous one too). Tried as many HD4400 drivers as I could find, without success.

I am not sure which Intel driver that I had previously. Please Help...

HD 4400 - How many EUs for OpenCL and in general ?

$
0
0

Hello.

I've recently bought a new Core i3-4170 (Haswell) processor with an iGPU inside - the HD 4400.

I have read in many sites and Intel forum that HD 4400 has 20 EUs (Execution Units) inside, but using my Core i3-4170 with Win 10 x64 latest version 14393.447 and latest drivers 20.19.15.4531 I can only see 12 EUs using OpenCL apps - and I mean every OpenCL app I tried.

It seems that the driver exposes 12 EUs for OpenCL.

For example, take a look of the output of CLInfo:

(I have the relative line in red)

CLinfo.exe

  Platform Name:                                         Intel(R) OpenCL

Number of devices:                               2

  Device Type:                                   CL_DEVICE_TYPE_GPU

  Device ID:                                     32902

  Max compute units:                             12

  Max work items dimensions:                     3

    Max work items[0]:                           256

    Max work items[1]:                           256

    Max work items[2]:                           256

  Max work group size:                           256

  Name:                                          Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400

  Vendor:                                        Intel(R) Corporation

  Driver version:                                20.19.15.4531

  Profile:                                       FULL_PROFILE

  Version:                                       OpenCL 1.2

My questions:

1) What is the number of EUs for HD 4400 in OpenCL and in general ? (Direct3D)

2) Is it a driver bug or some kind of limitation for Core i3 HD 4400 exposing only 12 EUs ?

thanks!

Hello!

I know that it is possible to overclock an igpu on a z170/270 chipset and a K Prozessor and some notebooks but is it possible to also underclock the igpu on this prozessors.

I know in idle the igpu go down to 350 mhz itself but i wantet to run it with only 1000 MHZ to test something.

Intel HD Graphics 520 is not able to play 4K movies?

I have a Surface Pro 4 (i5, 8GB RAM, SSD, Intel HD Graphics 520) and, although I have a 4K resolution on both Surface Display and 4K TV Panasnic (3840x2160 30Hz), when playing 4K movies (2160p) the video is stuttering. I have installed the latest drivers from Microsoft, still the same. Then installed the drivers from Intel (latest 3 versions including the latest beta), still the same. I cannot watch a 4K movie on my Surface or on my 4K TV Panasonic Viera. What is the solution please?

Problems with Intel Graphics Driver 20.19.15.4463

Description: After exiting from Sleep Mode, one of my monitors always remains in Standby mode. Both monitors are connected to different ports on the motherboard. One is VGA connected, the other is HDMI connected. If I use any of the Graphics administration utilities, only one monitor is shown at this point. If I start up with only the VGA monitor connected, then enter Sleep mode, and activate, the VGA monitor remains in standby. Connecting the HDMI monitor allows me to shut down cleanly after this. When I revert to version 4300 of the driver, these problems go away, though I do get the occasional hiccough that the update resolves.

The Hardware is a Lenovo Ideacentre 300, 2015H using 64 bit Windows 10 Home. The displays are Ilyama PL2280H.and PL2202W. Microsoft's automatic update has twice installed the 4463 driver without asking me if I wanted this update

When laptop display turns on after being off for, I notice high brightness

$

I bought the Xiaomi Air 13 Laptop (Windows 10 Pro) which has integrated Intel 520 graphics (and a dedicated nvidia 940mx card).

When I don't do anything on the laptop for 5 minutes, the display will turn off (this is set in the "Power Options"). Once you move your mouse (or hit a key) the display will turn back on. At that moment when the display turns on, I observe a VERY high brightness for ~50 milliseconds and after that, the display immediately adjusts to normal brightness.

If you set the display brightness to 100% everything is fine, because the graphics card - for what ever reason - sets the display brightness to 100% EVERY TIME the display is turned on (after being off). So you don't notice any difference because the transition from 100% to 100% brightness is smooth. But if your display brightness is set to (e.g.) 70%, you will observe a 100% brightness for 50 milliseconds, followed by a 70% brightness. This looks ugly and looks like a "lightning" to me. Apparently the graphics card will set the brightness no matter what to 100% when the display is turned on from a display-off state (even from sleep state), but it would make more sense to first set the brightness to 0%, then retrieve the brightness information, and set it accordingly....

I am looking for a way to fix this, does anyone know how? I disabled adaptive brightness on Windows 10, but it all doesn't help. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

p.s.

Here are the recommended drivers for the laptop. I used the following recommended Intel Driver Version 15.40.23.64.4444 (even an update to 21.20.16.4534 didn't help).

Intel card and AMD Radeon card conflict

$

I am using HP Pavilion g6-2102TX Laptop with i3-2370M, Intel HD Graphics 3000 and also an AMD Radeon 7670M (switchable) which unfortunately does not work. I'm currently running a Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Previously, I had a Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) system where my AMD Radeon card wont start (Device manager error code 10) after every possible option of installing drivers both from HP and AMD's site. The installations would result in BSOD. After extensive Google searches, I came to know this is a pattern amongst people switchable graphics esp. on WIndows 7 Ultimate. So I reinstalled Home Premium. Now the AMD Drivers would install successfully but then the system could not start and result in a reboot loop. I came to discover if I uninstalled my Intel card and disabled it only then the system booted. But then the AMD card still wouldn't work because of Driver signature problems.

Now, a requirement for installing the AMD card is that it requires Intel card too. I don't understand how do I solve this. Please help.

FFXIV: A Realm Reborn poor optimization?

Hi,

I've recently built a new PC and I'm using an I5-6500 with the integrated HD530 just till I can get the GFX card I want.

Now the HD530 is supposed to be better than my Radeon HD5670 Sapphire 1GB GDDR5

On 2 games; World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2 it's a lot better. However on Overwatch and especially Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn they are both literally unplayable and can't reach 30 FPS where as the hd5670 card was fine with these 2 games. Also on FFXIV the screen pulses black every so often which I'm assuming is also related to the HD530 but it's the only game it runs so poor on and does this. My Native resolution is 1680x1050 which I've never had to change before but even lowering it to 1366x768 didn't give an FPS boost.

Is it poor optimisation from Intel and is it possible to request these games be optimised better anywhere please?

Edit: Just wanted to note that I've tried different driver versions also but nothing changes, so I'm currently just using the latest 21.20.16.4542

[9024844] Custom resolution not working

$

I emailed Intel Customer Support Service and they refer me to this forum because the agent say it will have the correct exposure to intel engineering department. (request # 8001214860)

The problem is Intel Graphics driver for HD 4600 (and presumably others too) have a broken custom resolution for Built in LCD. No matter what setting you put into it, it will always custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity.

I tested it on many different laptop with eDP (embedded displayport) like Alienware 17, Asus G751JM, Asus Q551LN, Lenovo Y50-70, Razer Blade 14, MSI GT60 Dominator Pro, and Gigabyte P34 and they all say custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity.

To establish the fact that bandwidth is not the problem, I tried creating a custom resolution at native res (1920x1080) at 59Hz (default is 60Hz) and it says custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity. To test it further I downscale the resolution to 1600x900 @ 59Hz and it still gives the error so I conclude the problem is with the driver itself.

I tried the oldest and newest driver from the OEM and the one on Intel website and they are all broken.

The problem is NOT ISOLATED on a laptop model or a manufacturer but the Intel Graphics driver itself.

In fact if you verify the problem by testing it on ANY laptop that has an Intel graphics and try to create a custom resolution that is 1Hz less than native (like 59Hz) and it will give you the same error.

So why does it matter? Almost every single gaming laptop that is being released are NVIDIA Optimus Enabled (Hybrid Graphics where Intel Graphics is handling the display) and it prevents people from changing the refresh rate of the display. As an example the LCD panel found on Asus G751JM-BHI7T25 uses LG LP156WF4 SPL1 which is the exact same panel found on Asus G751JY that comes at 75Hz by default, but we cannot change the refresh rate due to broken Intel Custom Resolution even though the LCD panel itself is more than capable to handle it.

Refresh rate is a huge feature as evident on monitors getting released (like BenQ XL2430T, Asus ROG Swift, Acer Predator, etc...) and if you ask any gamer that has tried a high refresh rate monitor they will tell you how much big of a difference it is and because of this issue, any gaming laptop that has Hybrid graphics (Intel Graphics enabled) is a HUGE deal breaker.

[Edit by Bryce@Intel]: Changed title to reflect investigation bug# and title.

Old title: Intel driver is completely broken (custom resolution)

I'm getting 100% CPU usage with 4k 60 fps content on youtube. Surprising as the kabylake GPUs support VP9 decoding/encoding. Is this a driver issue as in the CPU is not yet supported.
