Is worthy changing DVMT pre-allocated?

$
0
0

I know that DVMT are a feature in Intel chipsets that allocated vram when it's necessary, but in bios says that I can change the DVMT pre-allocated up to 1024MB (by deafault it was 64MB). Ok, I changed just for testing, the dedicated vram in properties showed 1024MB, and the games performance got worst! I changed to default and got better. The question is: I can pre-allocated down to 32MB, if I do so,  will my graphic performance get better than is in 64MB?
When I buyed my PC, the site said that vram was up to 1GB, but when I checked my pc said that has 32MB of dedicated video, then I searched about DVTM and learned about it. I want to change mainly because the games that tecnically my pc can run easily (lower than 1GB of vram), poorly runs if I don't put the graphics and resolution in low.

Why does Windows 10 limit my monitor resolution to 1080

$

Hi,

I have the following setup but am unable to set set my display resolution to anything above 1080 when using Windows. I believe the issue is caused by limitations with the CPU as it states that HDMI only supports up to 1080.

Intel® Pentium® Processor G3258 (3M Cache, 3.20 GHz) Product Specifications

My only issue with this is my computer is dual boot, and why I boot into Ubuntu with exactly the same setup, I can select 2560 x 1440 without any issues. So why does Windows not offer this?

Thanks,

Andy

New 15.36.33.64.4889 video driver for 4th gen. CPU -- sloppy release notes

$

Woohoo! New video driver for my wonderful Haswell CPU:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27441/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-1-15-36-?product=80939

Interestingly the first sentence states that this new driver "is simply a security update" -- then below, under What is new?, we read about the relatively boring bug fixes and EDID override.

Then below all that is a link

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/27441/eng/ReleaseNotes_15.36.34.4889.pdf

to the Release Notes, but when perusing said PDF, we find that the "security update" is merely a rename of the installer from setup.exe to igxpin.exe.

QUESTION #1 So what is "insecure" about the installer for a graphics driver being named setup.exe??

And FYI note that the release notes PDF incorrectly gives the version number as 4578, which is the previous version from a year ago, and the release date as January 12, 2017 - should be 2018.

The release notes for year-old 4578, under Known Issues, lists these 8:

Doom 3 - Corruption is seen in the main menu and in the intro of the game

Two active taskbars sometimes seen when hot unplugging DP monitor in extended mode

Corruption seen on Outlook 2013 reports

Hitman™ Absolution game stops after cinematic when quality settings are high

Green corruption seen with Overlay + YUV +xvYcc/YCbCr enabled on HDMI

Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain- Corruption on water

Angry Birds - Corruption is seen During Maximizing & Minimizing

Overlay application does not work when opening it in dual display configuration with a tiled display and eDP

QUESTION #2 Have these been fixed?

Intel HD 630 BSOD with APC_INDEX_MISMATCH igdkmd64.sys 23.20.16.4877

Hi. I started experiencing BSOD with APC_INDEX_MISMATCH of the offending driver igdkmd64.sys. I had posted on Microsoft's fourms but as it appears to be Intel driver related this seems like the appropriate place to post. Others experiencing same issue: APC_INDEX_MISMATCH igdkmd64.sys - Microsoft Community  and my posting APC_INDEX_MISMATCH ERROR - Microsoft Community

I am getting reports of other users now experiencing the same issue on other systems.

Environment:  Either Windows 10 1703 or 1709.

HD4400 not able to detect internal screen on my laptop in win 10 after the screen was changed

Hi

The screen of my laptop is broken and I replaced It. The replacement was exactly the same display but the hw. revision was slightly different. It is an IPS AU Optronics 1080p panel. Since I changed the panel, the laptop is not able to detect the display using Win 10. I did some research and I'm 99,9% sure that this is a driver issue, here are my results:

OpenSuSE 42.3 - works perfectly, even HDMI, mini display port and audio over these interfaces

OpenSuSE 42.2 - works perfectly, even HDMI, mini display port and audio over these interfaces

Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS - works perfectly, even HDMI, mini display port and audio over these interfaces

Windows 10 using Microsoft Basic display adapter - internal screen works, mini display port and HDMI does not work

Windows 10 using 2015 driver provided by Microsoft - internal screen works, however the brightness is so dark that It is almost impossible to see anything, and the internal brightness control does not work. Mini display port and HDMI work either, audio over these interfaces also works ok

Windows 10 using latest 15.40.37.4835 drivers - internal screen is not recognized, mini display port and HDMI works perfectly, when I look at the control panel, only one screen (the external one) is recognized (Dell Monitor), however, there is no "Generic PNP Monitor" entry for the internal screen. Intel control panel is not able to detect more displays, only the external monitor is detected.

System information

Acer v5-573g using intel i5 4.200U, latest bios is already installed. Screen is AU Optronics 1080p IPS panel, the same one that came with the laptop originally, but the hw revision is higher.

dGPU Switch and Freeze Problem

$

Hi,

there is a problem with laptops which have Intel CPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is, whenever you try to do some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.

Some actions, which cause the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:

  • Right click on desktop
  • Left click on battery-icon in task-bar
  • Opening Chrome-browser
  • Opening Windows Image Viewer (app + classic Foto viewer)
  • Opening system control panel
  • Provocation any animation on task bar (e.g. thumbnail-preview, ...)
  • Loading a new tab in Firefox

Here is a video demonstrating Display Setting Freeze:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7K1SpCQgAY

Another video showing dGPU switch on a lot of simple tasks:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-euiZmHZwlc

Another one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txQZWfWFhlc

We have tried updating every software possible, but no luck.

  • Intel driver
  • NVIDIA driver
  • Chipset driver
  • BIOS
  • Firmware

The problem can be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer.

The problem can be solved by either disabling Intel GPU, which forces the system to always work with NVIDIA, or disabling NVIDIA GPU. Both of them is not an option though, as if you disable Intel, not only you will drain the battery faster, but also some games will stop working. If you disable NVIDIA, then what is the point of buying a laptop with a discrete GPU?

There is a also a workaround: configuring TrayPwrD3 to always work with NVIDIA in the backgound. This keeps the NVIDIA GPU alive but also drains battery faster. And there is no poaint in that as it renders Optimus useless!

So, Microsoft has to come up with a fix.

Thank you.

2018 Update from Intel

Hello all,

I noted I'd provide updates as they become available. Keeping with that, the debug engineer has moved this to our Control Panel team and it's in their queue awaiting a Developer. I've escalated the issue with management and I'm hoping to get this assigned to a Developer in the next few days to continue investigation. Yes, I have prioritized this, it is being treated with high importance, and I'll continue to provide updates when I have something to update you with. No update means there's nothing of value yet to update. I know the process seems to be taking a long time, though I feel there is good traction internally and I've been championing this for you. Overall there is a lot of development going on, so it's not unusual for investigations to take months; more complex issues can take even longer and other considerations can add to that time as well. I understand the level of frustration this is causing and am doing my best to push this to get an answer as soon as possible. I appreciate your patience during this process.

2018 Update V2 from Microsoft

Hey Recep, thanks for engaging with us on this issue. It seems to be an issue in the Intel or Nvidia drivers and not directly related to a pre-release build of Windows.

We are engaging with our partners at Intel and Nvidia to resolve the issue and we will update you as information becomes available! ~WindowsInsider

And BTW, this problem exists both on RTM 1709 and pre-releases. ~Recep Baltaş

Yes, I have read back on the forums. Intel and Nvidia are both working on a solution. ~WindowsInsider

Intel HD4600 4K Windows 10 GUI poor performance

Hello,

I'm using Dell XPS 9530 with Windows 10 installed. I've noticed, that when I'm trying to switch between windows using WIN + TAB key combination, animation is very choppy and laggy. I've installed newest Intel drivers from Dell website, but it didn't solved my problem. Intel drivers version is 20.19.15.4835. I'm using 4K internal screen with 3840x2160 resolution. Dell replaced motherboard few times, but it didn't solved problem. There is also nVidia GeForce GT 750 discrete GPU present on my system. I tried to connect external display (TV) using HDMI cable and there is major improvement in animation, but only when I switch internal laptop display off and leave TV screen on (using WIN + P keys and selecting second screen only).

So my question is: What could be the problem?

Dell XPS 13 Black Screen after Intel Driver Updates

$

Recently I updated drivers and BIOS for my Dell XPS 9343 (with QHD touch screen).

I went to the Dell website to do this and allowed it to detect and install the drivers. It also picked up a BIOS updated.

After a reboot, the screen goes black after the Dell Logo, i.e. when Windows starts to load and the power button turns off even though the system is still on.

I can connect an external monitor and see the display.

I can remove the Intel HD 5500 graphics driver (reverting to the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter) and can see the display on my laptop screen.

Windows update then kicks in an re-installs the Intel graphics Driver and I'm back to black screen.

I have re-installed Windows (10, 64-bit) with a clean installation. Same issue.

I've had Dell support remote into the computer and try then same things I have tried.

Eventually Dell told me that it was a known issue with a bad Intel driver and that I had to wait for an update from Intel.

All diagnostic tests report OK.

So Intel: Dell are saying that you've got a known problem with one or more of your drivers! I've got an expensive ultrabook that cannot use its GPU unless connected to an external monitor.

Where do I go from here as I cannot imagine that these drivers are causing issues for everyone else we'd see more about it?

Intel HD Graphics slower than how its should be

I am using Antergos right now and i am a linux user for couple years. I just noticed that i am having this issue since i started to use linux.

My first distribution was ubuntu and i had this problem, desktop environment was fluid and drivers was loaded but i was getting %25 lower performance at 3d rendering (Ubuntu 17.04, lxde, BombSquad was running at average 45 fps  and xonotic glx - big key bench had 24 as lowest fps)

Then i switched to clear linux and suprized by the results (clear linux, xfce, BombSquad was running at average 60 fps and xonotic glx - big key bench had 38 as lowest fps)

After i am updated to version 20320 clear linux had great performance drop in graphical applications (clear linux, xfce, BombSquad was running at average 45 fps and xonotic glx - big key bench had 28 as lowest fps)

My github issue about this problem: Heavy frame drops in graphical applications · Issue #9 · clearlinux/distribution · GitHub

After no response received i switched to Antergos with xfce desktop environment on my old hard disk (i still keep clear linux at my second hard disk for if someone requests a feed back), then i received same performance (Antergos, xfce, BombSquad was running at average 46 fps and xonotic glx - big key bench had 27 as lowest fps)

Here is my Antergos issue page: https://forum.antergos.com/topic/9008/intel-hd-graphics-is-slower-than-it-should-be

Antergos issue page has lots of information and also github issue page has information too.

I couldn't found anyone else heaving this issue.

my computer is Toshiba Satellite C655 with 4GB of RAM and Intel Core i3 i3-380M processor, using a secondary VGA monitor with 1360x768 resolution

DVXA2 Intel 8700K 630 UHD Graphics Causing Banding on 4K HDR movies...

Hi,

I've found a serious banding issue (scenes with white clouds show a pink posterization/banding effect) with 4K UHD HDR movies, located the source to be DXVA2 - if I disable H/W GPU acceleration (Native DXVA2) in the LAV video codec, then the banding is gone and scenes look perfectly normal.

I'm using an intel 8700k on-board Intel 630 UHD graphics GPU, tried MB latest graphic drivers and also intel's latest but both exhibit exactly the same issue.

Players -

MPC-BE, MPC-HC Powerdvd 17

Codec's used with MPC variants.
Latest MadVR for HDR passthrough
Latest LAV codecs - all used with UHD playback

Thanks.

UHD620 video hardware decoding cause inaccurate color

$

When I watch youtube with chrome, I found that the the color of video was inaccurate, i.e. green being too green, orange being too yellowish etc.. And if I pause the video or move my mouse to make the video control to show up, the color returns to normal. If I disable the hardware acceleration for video in chrome://flags, the color is always normal. So I'm pretty sure that it's the Intel UHD620 videl hardware decoding that causes the inaccurate color. Is there any way to fix this issue? The problem only occurs when video is played in full screen.

APC_INDEX_MISMATCH with Intel HD Graphics 630

$

Hi,

Since the last windows major update (Fall Creators Update published this winter 2017) I can no longer watch any protected videos on my PC, the result is either an error from the video player in the best case or a computer crash with a bluescreen APC_INDEX_MISMATCH in igdkmd64.sys.

My PC configuration is :

Motherboard : MSI H270M Mortar Artic (Latest Bios MS-7A69 B.40) (I had to upgrade BIOS on this board for the latest graphics driver to not show only noise on the screen when returning from standby)

RAM : 16 GB

Processor : Core i3-7100 CPU

Graphic chipset : Intel HD Graphics 630

Intel Chipset Drivers : 10.1.1.44

Intel ME Drivers : 11.7.0.1043

Intel Graphic Drivers : 23.20.16.4901 (or 15.60.2.4901 when you download it) (tried : 4877, 4815, 4678 all the same BSOD)

Windows 10 Pro x64 Version : 1709 (16299.192)

Playing videos that is not protected by DRM is fine : YouTube for instance, personal videos made with smartphone

Playing videos from :

* Netflix Application

* Netflix Website

* OCS Application (French film & TV subscription service)

* CANAL VOD Web Site (French film rental service)

Computers instantly crash with APC_INDEX_MISMATCH (Netflix Application sometimes doesn't crash but give error H7354 (not sure of err. number though) and this error on the Netflix website does invite Windows 10S user to install the media feature pack, this would suggest that Fall Creator update + intel driver + motherboard combination = broken protected media path)

Before Windows Fall Creator Update I had ZERO issues with this system (except with new Intel Graphics Drivers when returning from standby where the screen was corrupted this was resolved by installing a bios update)

ASUS Intel HD Graphics 4400, Which Driver?

Alright,

So over the past few days I have been having issues with my ASUS laptop, as the screen flickers pink/magenta at boot. This happens in the BIOS, in Windows 10, and Ubuntu. After about a minute, it stops. No problems. Put it to sleep - when it awakens, the same problems occur and then it stops. Already ran the Intel Processor Diagnostics tool, and everything is PASS. I checked ASUS' website, and there are no Windows 10 graphics drivers. Windows Update cannot find any either. I am running an Intel driver, version 20.19.15.4549. If I use the executable to update my graphics driver, it tells me I cannot, as this is a customized driver. Well, I have no idea who made it, as ASUS has no graphics drivers newer than 2015 for Windows 8.1/7 - and none for Windows 10. It isn't a huge issue, but slightly troublesome - even during boot the screen flashes pink across, like when VHS tapes would go through tracking, and display the bars across that slowly raise up and flicker. And then it magically stops after a few minutes logged in. Discrete graphics work fine, so the 745M isn't the cause. The pink flashing occurs above task manager, so it can't be an application causing it. Even under max load, no lines appear. Screen cable is nice and tight, with no pinched wires. Should I use the Intel driver, or stick with whatever Microsoft threw in during the Windows 10 upgrade, and ignore the pink lines?

Model : ASUS Q550LF (2013)

CPU: Intel i7-4500U

Graphics Processor: Intel HD Graphics 4400

OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Thank you for any help you can give me. I'm running out of ideas.

I only see an option to hang color saturation in the video display settings.  I checked other laptops in Best Buy (including prior Dell models) and they have the saturation slider in both the display and video sections. Is there any way to add it back?

Hi,

I can't play 4k video file on my Lenovo ThinkPad T560, it's always lag and low FPS.

I try to play 4k video file from Elysium 2013 2160p - 1 Minute Sample Footage - Free 4K Sample Footage or SES Astra UHD Test 1 2160p UHDTV Free 4K Sample Footage or any 4k video files

using from Windows Movies&TV, VLC, MPC-HC, K-Lite Codec Pack to PotPlayer,

PotPlayer perform best but still lag with average 10 FPS.

I've tried update my BIOS, Chipset, Graphic Card Driver from laptops and netbooks :: thinkpad t series laptops :: thinkpad t560 Lenovo PC Support

Still no improve.

I can play 4k content from Youtube just fine. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJdPyoqt8U)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNJdPyoqt8Ubut only on mp4 not vp9 format, if video plays in vp9 format CPU usage will rise to 100% and video will lags.

I've attach Report from System Scan Utility below.

Best Regards,

pipeCh
