Intel HD Graphics 620 / Win10 (Fast Ring): Error Code 43 with 15.60.01.4877 & 15.60.2.4901

$

Hello Intel team,

I would like to use the "Enhanced performance in HEVC/H.265 video playback on 7th Gen Intel® Core™ Processors or higher", because of my DVB-T2 USB stick (german tv with 1080p60 HEVC), but get always error code 43 (device manager) after installation.

Both "Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.60]" drivers are not working:

15.60.01.4877& 15.60.2.4901

Steps I have done:

1. downloaded the intel drivers

2. disabled the internet connection

3. uninstalled the driver 22.20.16.4836 (comes from Windows Update / recommend by Lenovo)

4. reboot my device, so that only the "Microsoft Display Adapter" is active

5. installed 15.60.01.4877 or 15.60.2.4901 (No error message while installing. Resolution is also changing to 1920x1080, but the brightness of the display is at maximum and at device manager I see error code 43)

I also tried it a few weeks ago with win64_15.60.0.4849.exe (working) and win64_15.60.01.4877.exe (error code 43) on Windows 10 Build 17046. So some changes between version 4849 and 4877 has broken the drivers for me.

Hello!

We are using video surveillance software with fullscreen mode on 3 monitors, connected to HD630 (Intel i7 7th generation) with Intel HD Graphics driver version 15.60.2.4901 and after startup all submonitor's screens become filled windows background color (black in my case). Seems like the window on the screen become fully transparent, but looks like any actions on transparent window's elements is working.

Main monitor's screen stay OK.

We also reproduced that issue on HD630 on i5-7500 and i7 6-th generation with 15.60.2.4901 driver version. Driver version 22.20.16.4664 do not have this problem.

As we check, all versions newer than 4664 do have this problem.

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Could you please help with the problem?

Disable Intel display power saving technology in plugged in mode?

$

I have a problem here.
I'm a digital artist, and i recently got a new Laptop with intel hd graphics.

What the display power saving technology basically does is lower the screen brightness when the image onscreen is already dark, and turn the brightness up whenever there is a bright image. What the point exactly to this is i really, really dont know, it seems pretty backwards to me, but thats beside the point here.
So, as you can imagine, while doing digital art its INCREDIBLY irritating to constantly have your screen brightness changing, and utterly pointless to turn down the brightness when youre working in dark areas of your image. Not to mention, most art programs like photoshop, krita, or medibang all have dark layout themes, so the screen brightness goes down even more often.

So here lies the problem:

In the power settings theres two tabs, battery mode and plugged in mode
in battery mode, the option to turn off the power saving thing is there and works fine, i have it disabled.

but in plugged in mode, the option to turn it on/off is missing, but its still activated by default

Is there any known way to turn it off in plugged in mode?? ive looked thru countless forums , reinstalled my drivers, everything, and no hope in sight.

heres some pictures (sorry for the german, "Display-Energiespartechnologie" means display power saving technology):

screena.PNG

screenb.PNG

the bottom tab is plugged in mode, as you can see the option is missing, and i even have everything set to max performance.

Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.45] Version: 15.45.23.4860 driver needs fixing

The Intel(R) Content Protection HECI Service cannot start because the subject driver package for Windows 7 32-bit installs a 64-bit version of IntelCpHDCPSvc.exe which won't run on a 32-bit system.

The error is eventid 7000 The Intel(R) Content Protection HECI Service service failed to start due to the following error: This version of c:\Windows\system32\IntelCpHeciSvc.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

Is this a packaging error? If so, can Intel please fix this?.

Intel 630 HD and Netflix Win 10 App Frame Drop

I've just finished a build using the Intel Pentium G4600 and installed the latest version of Windows 10 pro (v1709) along with the most up to date 630 HD Graphics driver for this chip (15.46) however I'm experiencing some issues when using Netflix in either the Windows app or Edge.

Playing Netflix (or streaming any video content) within Google Chrome appears to be fine - i.e. no dropped frames, however when using the app or Edge, the video stutters (and records dropped frames in the info found by pressing ctrl+shift+alt+d). The audio works fine and plays in time, with the video having to catch up every second. This also happens when playing back downloaded content within the Netflix app (i.e. isn't network related - same results when network is disconnected). CPU and GPU usage are both low during playback too.

I think I've isolated the issue to the 630 HD graphics driver by doing the following -

- downloaded Netflix content on the app

- disconnecting from the internet (to prevent Windows from automatically downloading drivers)

- uninstall Intel 630 HD Graphics driver (via device manager)

- reboot system

- open Netflix (still offline) and playback downloaded content

This works fine and no frames are dropped.

Once I either reconnect the internet or manually apply the 630 HD driver, playback has dropped frames again.

I'm not sure if it's related, but I've also experienced mouse lag too - i.e. where the mouse movements are delayed between my input and appearance on screen. This happens significantly when trying to use the Netflix app, however I've experience it in moderation at other times also.

My system consists of the followings:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B250N Phoenix-WiFi (latest BIOS F5a installed)

CPU: Intel Pentium G4600  @ 3.60Ghz

RAM: 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4 2400

Graphics Card: None - Intel 630 HD Graphics only

Display: Sharp HDTV connected via HDMI (no adaptors etc) at resolution 1920 x 1080 x 60 hertz

OS: Windows 10 Pro Version 1709 (Build 16299.192)

I notice there are some other posts with similar issues, however I've attempted some of the recommendations and they don't resolve my issue, i.e. I have tried disabling Intel Content Protection HDCP & HECI servies, rebooting and retrying:

Re: Bug report: Intel HD 630 and 15.47 drivers cause Netflix / Edge / IE 11 hangs

Hi I have a Gaming Computer lapotp core i7 7 gen, 16GB RAM 1TB SSD, its crashing and freezing with a noise. its happen often I use internet, and sometimes with simple works. My laptop has Nvidia Geforce adaptor as well.

I reinstalled the windows 10 5 times, I tried updating all drivers, I tried to install the latest graphic drivers, I tried watching many videos on youtube to find out what is causing this problem. tried manythings. But each time after sometime freezing and crashing and only way to get it back working is by holding power button to restart.

So finally I disabled the intel HD graphics 630 in device manager and issue solved. now I can use my laptop with no problem, But without graphic adaptor I can't use other monitor and I just use invidia. but I need my intel HD graphics, Can anyone help me please.

What should I do to use by intel graphics with no problem.

Screen Capture Defence architecture for Web application

$

Hi,

I'm looking for a way of preventing video content on Web browser (e.g. HTML5 video streaming app) from capturing by other process, like https://audials.com/en.

The use case is premium content protection and it seems some DRM can protect the video delivery but can't protect the display buffer from screen capturing. I think It needs some architecture of hardware based display buffer protection.

As far as I know, Intel and Microsoft provides such architecture for Windows native application via DirectX and GPU based content protection or with SGX for DVD/Blu-ray, but not sure if there is any recommended architecture for Web application.

Question

Does Intel have any reference/recommended architecture to prevent the display buffer on Web browser from capturing by other software? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

HDR display not detected/abysmal 4K performance

$

0

I just installed the latest display driver update, and thought I could just start playing HDR content from YouTube and Netflix happily - I WAS WRONG.
Here are my problems.

1. The Windows 'Video playback' settings doesn't detect an HDR display connected. My PC is an i5-7400 connected via HDMI 2.0 to my LG OLED65B6T. EVERYTHING IN THIS CHAIN IS HDR/4K60/HDMI 2.0 compatible. WHY ISN'T WINDOWS DETECTING A COMPATIBLE DISPLAY?

2. When 'forcing' HDR through Windows Display settings, My TV correctly recognizes the HDR signal, HOWEVER this does not auto detect whenever HDR video is being played, so this is NOT a solution, however it PROVES that my display and the rest of my PC components are HDR compatible.

3. When playing back ANY 4K video (HDR or otherwise), playback slows to a crawl. Audio plays fine, but video appears choppy and in slow motion. Task Manager reports that the GPU is at 100% load, CPU at ~50% load with 100% spikes, and RAM usage is 5.5Gb/8Gb. No other applications are open/running in the background during this time. This is regardless of which 4K content I play and what I use to play it on - YouTube/Netflix/Windows Media Player/VLC, etc. WHY IS 4K VIDEO PLAYBACK IMPOSSIBLE ON MY MACHINE THAT IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD???

I waited SO PATIENTLY for a driver update because we were told TIME AND AGAIN by Intel that the HDR support was coming. Now that it's here, not only does it NOT detect a compatible HDR display, but ANY 4K video is unwatchable.

Needles to say, I am incredibly ****** off.
I WANT ANSWERS NOW.

Do any Intel integrated graphics support MPEG4 Copy-once video?

$

I am trying to get clarity the current status on MPEG4 copy-once video over HDCP (i.e. cable TV video in Windows Media Center) with Intel integrated graphics. My research on this forum and elsewhere suggests there has been no support for my htpc's current i5-4690s processor. Is this still the case or do current drivers support MPEG4 copy-once? With Windows 7 or Windows 10?

If not, do any of the latest generations of integrated graphics now support MPEG4 copy-once video over HDCP? If so, which ones? As MPEG4 copy-once is coming my way I need to figure out what upgrades I can make to support it: a new mobo/processor with working integrated graphics is preferable to adding a video card, as my sound card takes up both slots in my fanless htpc.

Thank you.

NUC7i5BNK Dual Monitor Setup HDMI to DisplayPort

I do have a NUC7i5BNK that I want to operate with a dual monitor setup as described below:

1st monitor connected Tunderbolt3 to DisplayPort = OK

2nd monitor connected HDMI to DisplayPort = NOK (Screen stays black)

When I connect the 2nd monitor HDMI to DVI it works. However, as I do have 10 NUCs including

the HDMI to DisplayPort cables I prefer it that way. Also I found a Multiple Display Configuration wizward @ wizard_template. but my configuration is not listed there.

Can I Stream 4K Content on Netflix?

$

Hi,

I am struggling to stream 4k content on Netflix with my brand new PC. I am using the onboard graphic drivers and I have downloaded the latest drivers for my processor (Intel Graphics 630). The PC has the following specs:

- Intel Core i7 8700k 3.7 (Coffee-Lake Processor)

-Asus ROG Maximus X Hero

- Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (updated with the latest drivers)

In principle, I should be able to stream 4k content on Netflix, but I get as maximum a 1080p resolution. I am trying both the Edge browser and the Windows 10 Netflix app (downloaded from the Microsoft Store). My connection speed is higher than 25 Mbps, I have a TV Sony XE90 Series HDCP 2.2, HDR 10) and I have the ultra hd suscription with Netflix. I have also enabled and installed the Intel SGX extension, but I cannot stream 4k content on Netflix yet. Am I missing something? Should I download any driver or enable any option from the Mobo?

Many thanks.

dGPU Switch and Freeze Problem

$

Hi,

there is a problem with laptops which have Intel CPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is, whenever you try to do some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.

Some actions, which cause the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:

  • Right click on desktop
  • Left click on battery-icon in task-bar
  • Opening Chrome-browser
  • Opening Windows Image Viewer (app + classic Foto viewer)
  • Opening system control panel
  • Provocation any animation on task bar (e.g. thumbnail-preview, ...)
  • Loading a new tab in Firefox

Here is a video demonstrating Display Setting Freeze:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7K1SpCQgAY

Another video showing dGPU switch on a lot of simple tasks:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-euiZmHZwlc

Another one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txQZWfWFhlc

We have tried updating every software possible, but no luck.

  • Intel driver
  • NVIDIA driver
  • Chipset driver
  • BIOS
  • Firmware

The problem can be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Razer.

The problem can be solved by either disabling Intel GPU, which forces the system to always work with NVIDIA, or disabling NVIDIA GPU. Both of them is not an option though, as if you disable Intel, not only you will drain the battery faster, but also some games will stop working. If you disable NVIDIA, then what is the point of buying a laptop with a discrete GPU?

There is a also a workaround: configuring TrayPwrD3 to always work with NVIDIA in the backgound. This keeps the NVIDIA GPU alive but also drains battery faster. And there is no poaint in that as it renders Optimus useless!

So, manufacturers have to come up with a fix.

Thank you.

Workaround for Right Click Freeze
Go to regedit and remove those two entries:

  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxcui
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxDTCM

Restart and voila! You don't have a freeze on right click anymore.

We have an ETA for the fix!

Hello all,

I believe we have root caused the issue and are testing various potential fixes, one looking promising so far. This happens often though in fixing bugs, we'll attempt to check in and hopefully it won't cause other issues or break when combined with other code fixes. It is a step in the right direction though and I thought I'd share progress. If all goes well, we could be looking at a fix in our March/April driver depending on any complications and perhaps a Beta if I can get one out sooner. I'll keep the updates coming as they're available.

Multiple Monitor Setup

$

I have an ASRock z370 Gaming-ITX/ac Motherboard.
Running Ubuntu 16.04
Unfortunately I am not 100% sure which Intel Graphics Chips it has.
I do not have a secondary Graphic card I want to use Intel HD.
It is meant to be 4K capable.
Motherboard has DP, HDMI, USB-C
It currently works on 4K from the Display Port.
But HDMI does not work, nor can I get Multiple monitor to work

I installed the Intel Graphics Update Tool for Linux*, and ran it, this is what enabled the 4K monitor to work at the correct resolution through the Display Port only.
However HDMI and Multiple Monitor do not work.

Can someone advise what steps need to be taken to setup multiple monitor ?

8700K (UHD Graphics 630) DisplayPort not working

$

Hello,

So I have a Asus Z370E motherboard (latest bios) with an Intel i7 8700k installed in it running windows 10 professional. This system is connected to an Asus PG278Q via DisplayPort only as well as this is the only connection the Asus PG278Q offers. I use to have a Asus 1080Ti graphics cards installed it as well (everything was working fine) but i have recently taken that out and put it in another rig. So now I've switched it back to using the UHD Graphics 630 and this is where the problem started. I re-enabled the UHD Graphics 630 and connected the monitor to the motherboard by the DisplayPort connection booted into windows and everything looks fine besides using the Microsoft Basic Video Adapter driver but when i got to install the latest (Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.60]) the screen just goes blank and doesn't register at all.

Now i have tried uninstalling and installing the Intel driver in safe mode, I uninstalled all the nvidia drivers prior to installing the Intel driver and nothing seems to work as it always results in a blank screen once the intel driver is installed.

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
