2560x1440 on Intel HD 4600 via DVI-D Dual-Link (Bad Windows drivers from Intel)

$

My monitor supports 2560x1440 and it's connected to Intel HD 4600 via DVI-D Dual-Link cable but not working at this resolution on Windows, but works on GNU/Linux. So, it's obviously a software problem.

This works on GNU/Linux (Ubuntu) great at the 2560x1440 @ 60Hz but on Windows 7 with all updates (tried both with and without Intel newest drivers from intel site) it works ONLY in 1920x1080 and it DOES NOT work at 2560x1440 at all.

The same cable, the same monitor, the difference is OS and apparently Intel drivers.

HD 4600 was selected by me for buying (as a part of CPU obviously) because it was advertised to support 2560x1440, so keep your promises.

So, the conditions for you to reproduce if you need:

  1. Windows 7 up to date.
  2. 2560x1440 monitor
  3. DVI-D Dual-Link connection

Works as expected on GNU/Linux (2560x1440) and doesn't work on Windows with your drivers (1920x1080 max).

If you want to get any service logs or dumps, please take them here (the user KAPACbwork provided a lot of information already):

https://communities.intel.com/thread/118531

It's an ticket about the same issue, which was not solved (but it was set as "Assumed Answered" probably after the guy with the issue lost any hope to get it fixed).

Intel HD Graphics 520 support two monitors and a laptop screen?

Hi!

Hope you are well.

I have a Dell Latitude E7470 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6600U CPU @ 2.60GHz , GenuineIntel and I was looking to connect a second VGA monitor with a cable VGA to HDMI to an adapter HDMI to mini DP.

I already have a second Dell monitor working from DVI to HDMI.

Regarding the second monitor, it shows as no signal and it's not recognized by the laptop.

I've tried swaping the screens by connecting the mini dp adaptor to the other cable from DVI to HDMI and also doesn't work.

Can you please check if this graphic card supports a VGA monitor and what adaptors do I need to use (active/passive)?

Thanks

Hi, I've been trying to open Intel Graphics Control Panel but there is no option when I right click desktop. I tried opening it from System32 folder, but it didn't work too. My GPU is Intel HD Graphics 5600, and I already installed the latest driver automaticly + manually. I tried to google it several times, but I find nothing. Please help me.

HDR display not detected/abysmal 4K performance

$

I just installed the latest display driver update, and thought I could just start playing HDR content from YouTube and Netflix happily - I WAS WRONG.
Here are my problems.

1. The Windows 'Video playback' settings doesn't detect an HDR display connected. My PC is an i5-7400 connected via HDMI 2.0 to my LG OLED65B6T. EVERYTHING IN THIS CHAIN IS HDR/4K60/HDMI 2.0 compatible. WHY ISN'T WINDOWS DETECTING A COMPATIBLE DISPLAY?

2. When 'forcing' HDR through Windows Display settings, My TV correctly recognizes the HDR signal, HOWEVER this does not auto detect whenever HDR video is being played, so this is NOT a solution, however it PROVES that my display and the rest of my PC components are HDR compatible.

3. When playing back ANY 4K video (HDR or otherwise), playback slows to a crawl. Audio plays fine, but video appears choppy and in slow motion. Task Manager reports that the GPU is at 100% load, CPU at ~50% load with 100% spikes, and RAM usage is 5.5Gb/8Gb. No other applications are open/running in the background during this time. This is regardless of which 4K content I play and what I use to play it on - YouTube/Netflix/Windows Media Player/VLC, etc. WHY IS 4K VIDEO PLAYBACK IMPOSSIBLE ON MY MACHINE THAT IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD???

I waited SO PATIENTLY for a driver update because we were told TIME AND AGAIN by Intel that the HDR support was coming. Now that it's here, not only does it NOT detect a compatible HDR display, but ANY 4K video is unwatchable.

Needles to say, I am incredibly ****** off.
I WANT ANSWERS NOW.

HP Pavilion x360 Graphics Scaling Mouse Issue

Hello, today I downloaded Blender and found that my mouse would be fine at the bottom of the screen - but the closer I get to the top would separate. The visual icon of the mouse would be under where the computer thought the mouse was. This is very frustrating and makes using this program impossible. Going onto their forums I found that it is a driver issue. However when trying to update drivers for my Intel HD Graphics 520 I got the error message saying that I have a special driver and trying to install a generic one would cause issues.

I am on Driver 21.20.16.4639, from 3/22/2017.

Any help would be appreciated.

8700K (UHD Graphics 630) DisplayPort not working

Hello,

So I have a Asus Z370E motherboard (latest bios) with an Intel i7 8700k installed in it running windows 10 professional. This system is connected to an Asus PG278Q via DisplayPort only as well as this is the only connection the Asus PG278Q offers. I use to have a Asus 1080Ti graphics cards installed it as well (everything was working fine) but i have recently taken that out and put it in another rig. So now I've switched it back to using the UHD Graphics 630 and this is where the problem started. I re-enabled the UHD Graphics 630 and connected the monitor to the motherboard by the DisplayPort connection booted into windows and everything looks fine besides using the Microsoft Basic Video Adapter driver but when i got to install the latest (Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.60]) the screen just goes blank and doesn't register at all.

Now i have tried uninstalling and installing the Intel driver in safe mode, I uninstalled all the nvidia drivers prior to installing the Intel driver and nothing seems to work as it always results in a blank screen once the intel driver is installed.

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

HD 620 HDMI Problem

Hello community,

I've recently bought 2 Lenovo laptops with the following spec.

  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00500 (Intel® Core™ i3-7100U (2.40 GHz), 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Intel® HD 620)
  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00700 (Intel® Core™ i7-7500U (2.70 - 3.50 GHz), 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Intel® HD 620 + NVIDIA® GeForce™ 940MX 2GB)
Both of them are running Win10 Professional.

When trying to connect either one of them to my TV via HDMI, the TV recognizes the laptop but not vice versa. I am able to choose the screen selection modes (Duplicate, Extend,...) but nothing happens upon selection. When I try the "recognize monitor" function in system controls, no other monitor then the laptop screen is found. All drivers are updated to the newest ones available including BIOS updates. It seems as if the HDMI-port is somehow inactive.

Do you know how the fix this?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Rob

Random dots all over the screen

Hello all. I was looking for help regarding a problem with my laptop.

I recently updated my laptop to latest build of Windows 10. But, after the update, now there are random "snow" dots (sort 0f flickering) appearing across the screen.
http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a418/kautsar_21/white%20dots%20problem_zpsegc4qlee.png
http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a418/kautsar_21/white%20dots%20problem%203_zpsari06plu.png

Those random dots always appeared each time I restart my laptop. If I shut down my laptop, then turn it on, the dots won't appear.
If I restart again, dots will apear again.
I tried booting my laptop to Safe Mode, and the dots disappear during the Safe Mode.

I assume this has to do with my Intel(R) HD Graphics. I have two Display Adapters on my laptop, Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M.
Disabling Intel(R) HD Graphics Device,Uninstall the driver, and/or switching the driver with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter will remove the random dots,  but the problem returns when I restart the laptop.

Here's the spec of My laptop:
ASUS GL502VT
Intel(R) HD Graphics 530 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M as Display Adapter

Thank you

Monoprice 4k Monitor Stuck at 1280x720

$

Hi all. I recently purchased this 4k monitor https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=27771. I know the 4k works because I used it with my Xbox One S. However, when using the included HDMI 2.0 cable to plug into my computer (integrated graphics (Intel HD-630) through the i7-7700, Gigabyte H270-HD3P, advertised native 4k@60hz), it gets stuck at 1280x720 resolution in the Intel Graphics Control Panel and Windows 10 display settings. I also tried to plug this monitor into a new laptop and got the same result - so it seems to be isolated to the Intel software maybe? Even trying a custom resolution does not work. All my 1920x1080 monitors get recognized correctly by both desktop and laptop, I just can't make the resolution change for this Monoprice monitor. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics driver from the latest version and tried the one specifically from the Gigabyte website. With the Intel graphics driver completely uninstalled, the Microsoft basic graphics driver allows the monitor to be at 1920x1080, but no more. Any guidance would be appreciated. Also attached are my Intel SSU results.

intel hd graphics 520 flickers from HDMI output

I'm a teacher who connects to many different classroom projectors. Sometimes I connect via HDMI directly to the projector and sometimes I connect via an HDMI to VGA converter from Insignia. Either way the projector constantly flickers and disconnects only to come back a few seconds later, flicker and repeat.

I have a Toshiba Radius 4K two in one with an Intel HD Graphics 520.

I thought I saw that the max refresh rate was 59 on this, but the Intel Graphics won't allow me to go to lower than 60 Hz. I've tried all combinations of resolutions. Some flicker a bit less.

I only see an option to hang color saturation in the video display settings.  I checked other laptops in Best Buy (including prior Dell models) and they have the saturation slider in both the display and video sections. Is there any way to add it back?

Switching Framerate in Intel Graphics Settings App

$

I am using a NUC6i5SYK as an HTPC. In principle everything works fine. The little machine does its job very well.

My video source material is of different framerates:

- 23.976p

- 50p

- 59.94p

I have set up profiles for the three framerates, so I can play videos to my Panasonic projector with the native framerate to avoid judder.

In order to switch framerate, I have to

-  open the Intel Graphics Settings app

- in the app click on profile

- on the profile page select the profile form the dropdown menu

- clock accept at the bottom of the page

- confirm the acceptance

Now that's quite an effort to change the framerate.

In the AMD display driver switching the framerate is much easier:

- right clock on the desktop

- move the mouse pointer to the AMD Catalyst entry

- a dropdown menu opens with the profiles

- move to the desired profile and let go

Intel PLEASE implement something as easy to use to switch profiles.

Or maybe I am simply missing something?

Thank you

Can I Stream 4K Content on Netflix?

$

Hi,

I am struggling to stream 4k content on Netflix with my brand new PC. I am using the onboard graphic drivers and I have downloaded the latest drivers for my processor (Intel Graphics 630). The PC has the following specs:

- Intel Core i7 8700k 3.7 (Coffee-Lake Processor)

-Asus ROG Maximus X Hero

- Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (updated with the latest drivers)

In principle, I should be able to stream 4k content on Netflix, but I get as maximum a 1080p resolution. I am trying both the Edge browser and the Windows 10 Netflix app (downloaded from the Microsoft Store). My connection speed is higher than 25 Mbps, I have a TV Sony XE90 Series HDCP 2.2, HDR 10) and I have the ultra hd suscription with Netflix. I have also enabled and installed the Intel SGX extension, but I cannot stream 4k content on Netflix yet. Am I missing something? Should I download any driver or enable any option from the Mobo?

Many thanks.

Hello!

Previously I used my pc with two monitors connected directly to motherboard and everything worked fine using hdmi and vga.

Then, I installed gtx 570 into my computer and installed drivers And system worked with 2 monitors perfectly.

Now I removed graphics card and uninstalled drivers.

and issue is, windows only detects my first monitor which is connected via vga. second monitor is off. to turn it on I need to go to my intel hd graphics settings and press find(screenshot), and monitor turns on. after reboot my computer forgets monitor again. I tried reinstalling intel graphics, restoring default bios settings, it didnt help. I tried to boot in linux and it detects both monitors.

Hi

I have a Dell inspiron 7746, comes with intel HD 5500 integrated graphics and Nvidia 845M. After I had to change my hard drive, I recovered my windows 8 (originally on the laptop) and then reinstalled windows 10 home (build 1079).

ever since I replaced the hard drive I can bot get the HDMI port to output anything. no external monitor works.  I tried different laptop and the monitors are fine.

Since then I have updated my BIOS, updated the graphic drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. I can't think of anything else. The diagnostics test do not shoe any thing wrong with my laptop. all other ports and internal parts work just fine. I can't tell what could have gone wrong. I am suspicious that this is software related problem but I cant be sure. can anyone help me with this?

DVXA2 Intel 8700K 630 UHD Graphics Causing Banding on 4K HDR movies...

Hi,

I've found a serious banding issue (scenes with white clouds show a pink posterization/banding effect) with 4K UHD HDR movies, located the source to be DXVA2 - if I disable H/W GPU acceleration (Native DXVA2) in the LAV video codec, then the banding is gone and scenes look perfectly normal.

I'm using an intel 8700k on-board Intel 630 UHD graphics GPU, tried MB latest graphic drivers and also intel's latest but both exhibit exactly the same issue.

Players -

MPC-BE, MPC-HC Powerdvd 17

Codec's used with MPC variants.
Latest MadVR for HDR passthrough
Latest LAV codecs - all used with UHD playback

Thanks.
