eye strain

hello,

I have a Notebook with Intel Core i7 4710 - Intel Graphics 4600 and external Nvidia Gforce GTX 850M for about 2 weeks now. I connect the Notebook on two different places per HDMI with nearly three year old lg monitors. With my old Notebook (Intel Core2Duo and Nvidia Gforce 9500GT) I had not any problems with this two monitors. However when I connect one of the two monitors with my new Notebook I get eye strain and headache. Of course I use the right resolution FullHD and tried out different brigthness and contrast adjustments in intel graphic properties. OS is Windows 7 Prof x64  and the newest drivers are installed. Version:15.33.22.64.3621
Nearly two months ago I purchased an other Notebook with Intel Core i7 4700MQ - Intel Graphics 4600 and Nvidia Gforce GT755 M. I had the same problem there and so I sent it back, because I thought that the Notebook has an defect. I tried out Windows 7 and Windows 8 and had the same eye problems in the two different OS.
Now I do not really know what the problem exactly is, because I have these problems with two different Notebooks on two different external LG Monitors and the integrated Displays of the Notebooks. But I thinkt the problem is the Intel HD 4600. Maybe that there is something wrong with the driver.
Do you have any ideas about this? Couse  I can't purchase and send back new Notebooks all the time.

Sorry for my bad english

I keep getting BSODs on this newly built machine.  No extra graphics card, just the internal one.  I've swapped out the intel graphics drivers for the latest ones, and still having the issue. Here is the BSOD info attached.

Anyone come across this that can help?

The cphs service terminated with the following error: Invalid handle

I asked a year ago about the following error, but still the error exists and occurs on every boot of my PC:

Source: System

Event ID: 7023

Level: Error

General: The cphs service terminated with the following error:

Invalid handle

My system is as follows:

Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 1709, build 16299.309

MSI Z170-A PRO (MS-7971) motherboard

Intel HD Graphics 530 driver version 23.20.16.484

I have contacted MSI regarding this error, but they simply responded with:

We haven't received any similar report about the error. Maybe it is related to the system.

Please can someone from Intel shed some light on this error? TIA

Processor Compatibility for the H270 Gaming 3 Motherboard

$

Hello, INTEL community!

I mean I'm a little frustrated because the new 8th generation platforms have arrived and

I've necessarily acquired a 7th generation platform 3 months ago.

The question is:

What would be the "best processor" of the "7th generation", i5 or i7, for the platform "H270 Gaming 3 from Gigabyte

that would serve significant performance for the speed of the windows 10 operating system?

I want to put a 120GB SSD driver and use DDR4 memories to do "dual channel" to have an ideal response time with graphical applications

that I use most (in addition to exploring the features of windows, like "msconfig", and others to use the maximum speed in the operating system).

Another issue is having speed reading the data transfers between the "partitions" of the system data disks.

I work with files with "heavy" extensions and would like to save time on the use of these data / files:

both for internal use and for downloads via the web, if necessary.

I ask again,

which would be ideal:

Processor with "own cooler" or processor that has the option of "overclok" with the use of a water cooler?

Note: I do not intend to "overclock" (fear of "shortening" the useful life of the processor - does that make sense? I will use the machine too much!)

Thanks to all who can help with any information!

NUC7i3BNB - Screen resolution issue

Hello

I just purchased the above nuc and installed Windows 10 with all the latest drivers.

I have noticed when when I lock the computer (Win+L) and gets back from lunch and logs back on again the display is reset to what looks like HD. All open windows are heavily minimized up in the left corner and all needs to be resized to my desktop resolution 2560 x 1440.

Is there a fix or workaround to fix this?

Since updating to windows 10 I cannot adjust my screens brightness. If I change the Intel driver to the Windows basic display driver it works but then I cannot use an external projector or screen. Updating to the latest Intel driver did not work.

GTA V: Online keeps crashing at random times

When I'm playing GTA Online (not sure if it happens in single player), the game likes to crash a lot at random times. I could go for 20 minutes till a crash, or 4 hours till a crash and it's gotten really annoying recently. I'll just be minding my own business, driving my car down the highway in the game and then it will just crash out of nowhere or even worse, it'll crash during a heist or heist setup. It brings up the same error every time. The error is "ERR_D3D_INIT". "Failed Initialization. Please reboot and restart the game. Try reinstalling the game if this persists." I've tried verifying the game files, installing Acer's Intel Drivers instead of the generic ones, and using windowed borderless. None of those fixed the problem. I have an i5-7200u with Intel HD Graphics 620, and 8GB of RAM.

Intel HD 4600 Lenovo Y5070

Hello everyone, I have a Lenovo Y5070 with intel HD 4600 and nVidia 860m.
This monday I was playing overwatch, closed the game, disconnected my ethernet cable, and since then my screen isn't working properly.ello

It shows yellow rectangles and some kind of tearing. Same happens when I plug an HDMI cable so it's not my laptop's screen.

Same error happens in ubuntu.
So far the only "solution" I've come to is disabling intel HD 4600 on windows the device manager but then I'm not able to change brightness nor suspend my laptop.

I tried changing the drivers but all with the same result.

I don't know what else to try but I really hope the intel HD isn't physically damaged

Please, any ideas, or suggestions on how to fix it or what to try?

Thanks!!!

Greetings,
Efra.

opengl after effects (elements plugin) intel hd 520

Hola, llevo un mes con este problema, cuando intentando resolver este problema y no hay manera. cuando intento aplicar el efecto element en after effects me da el siguiente error:

"failed to initialize opengl"

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CC 2018\Support Files>aegpusniffer

LoadLibrary "n" failed!

LoadLibrary "n" failed!

Using DXGI: Device: "Intel(R) HD Graphics 520" has dedicated video RAM (MB): 1298 and has shared video RAM (MB): 3148 (Total: 4446 MB)

a ver si es posible solucionar el problema del opengl en su proxima actualizacion, ya que tambien falla por lo que he leido en autocad.. no solo hay que dedicar esfuerzos en juegos, tambien hay gente que usa el ordenador para otras cosas...

Hello, I have been with this problem for a month, when trying to solve this problem and there is no way. when I try to apply the element effect in after effects I get the following error:

"failed to initialize opengl"

my graphics card is the intel hd 520 in a acer aspire s5-371

As I said I've tried everything, I have the latest intel driver, I've updated everything with acer. After many and many laps I have not achieved anything, well yes, I had to format the PC pq after so much fiddling and modify and install drivers, it went crazy.

  The data I have are:

- directx 12 has incompatibilities since many programs still do not use it and the dx 11 does not appear anywhere, it goes directly to use directx 9

- according to the "opengl hardware capability viewr" this card (intel hd 520) is not in its database, which is incompatible in many parameters.

please make an agreement in intel with the developers of opengl to include this card in your database.

- with adobe dimension I also had incompatibility problems, but solve it by increasing vram with pghhd

- When I run the after effects gpusniffer he tells me that

C: \ Program Files \ Adobe \ Adobe After Effects CC 2018 \ Support Files> aegpusniffer

to see if it is possible to solve the problem of the opengl in its next update, since it also fails because of what I read in autocad .. not only have to dedicate efforts in games, there are also people who use the computer for other things ...

Intel DPST / Active contrast issue

$
0

Description

Intel Active Contrast (DPST) driving me nuts.

Hopefully anyone running across my issue is already semi familiar with the term. DPST (Display Power Saving Technology) or called Active Contrast by some is a power saving technology Intel has been implementing / continuing to improve since before 2007 in laptop displays to save power. (http://www.ruf.rice.edu/~mobile/elec518/readings/display/intel07.pdf , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Display_Power_Saving_Technology)

My brand spankin’ new Dell Inspiron 7370 laptop that I just purchased in January has had this annoying problem since day 1. Due to a bad charge controller on the motherboard, I ended up getting a 2nd 7370, so I’ve also now had two machines, that both did / do the exact same thing.

If you’re still not familiar with what DPST does, it’s a little hard to explain. The best I can do to summarize, is that its “color sensitive brightness control” based on screen content. So, if you’ve got more dark colors of your window / desktop whatever you’re looking at, the display dims. If you’ve got lighter colors, it brightens. It’s actually sort of the opposite of what you’d think, because it ends up blinding the user when you get a nice white page like google search landing page, and the whole screen lights up; to squinting when you hit bing’s search page, which almost always has a really good looking photo of some trees or water, both of which are darker, causing the entire screen to dim, and text to get really hard to see until your eyes adjust.

And yes, I’ve worked with Dell for over a month, we’ve tried every single thing through Windows you can to turn off any power saving, auto-dimming or auto brightness, or adaptive brightness, etc that there is at least three times. Dell says they’ve escalated it to their engineering (read, development) department, but I’m not convinced they know what is going on, either. I also made a video of my duplicating the problem (Dell tech support India called it “strobe lights / club on a computer”) which you can watch here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vC4tREV1z4

I specifically focus on the clock/address in the tray / notification area because to me, I cannot see any reason why that should change based on what is happening with regards to screen colors. You’ll see me fairly rapidly alt-tabbing between a light full-screen window, and a dark one. Notice how long it takes my iphone to adjust to the light difference!

I’m not the first to have this problem, its gone on for ages. Different laptops, different people. They’ve all eventually done one of two things. A) Done something to get the option to show up in the intel graphics control panel to “turn off adaptive” or “full performance” instead of “balanced” for display, or B) a registry modification. I’m looking for B, because I’ve done A, and it hasn’t helped. Heres some more articles on others that have had the problem, and what they did to fix it (I’ve also attempted to do everything they have, which is why I included the links)

So, before you say “its your power profile!” – I built a brand new one, and checked all the display configs and set everything to high performance, or disabled for any graphics power saving related features. (Dell also did this about three times or so). Sorry. Not the issue. Also tried the “high performance mode” which is only accessible through the Dell quickset tool where they’ve hidden away the “high performance” mode, which also makes no difference.

Dell has been working on this for going on two months now. I contacted Intel support about two weeks ago, and they’ve now given up and kicked it over to you, the Intel community. So you guys, are literally, my last hope.

Someone, please tell me, where in de hell the damn reg key to turn off this bloody DPST when its on battery power is. I’ve messed with the featuretestcontrol reg key (no difference), I’ve located and changed the value of every reg key with the word “power” in it under the

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}\0000

Directory so the “dcpowerprofile” matches the same value as the “acpowerprofile” – no dice. I’ve rolled back drivers, updated drivers. Yes, all the dumb little auto-brightness-sensor this through windows (or services) has been turned off, or disabled, so there, I’ve said it. Again – Dell has had their lvl 1 and lvl 2 techs on this machine on at least 6 remote sessions. Some of them have been for 4-6 hours.

I know there’s a reg key I can change. I just don’t know where. I did download proc monitor and ran it and isolated the processes for intel, but let me tell you, its accessing a ton of paths/keys. I also remember process monitor being a lot more useful… It doesn’t even give the key name now, just the directory. Maybe I haven’t played with it enough.

Your help is greatly appreciated, in advance!

HD 630 Whole screen sometimes jumps slightly to the right or the left

Hi,

I’ve got the following issue.

Sometimes, the whole image that I’ve got on my screen (the windows desktop, the open applications, everything), moves slightly to the left or to the right. It takes the time of a wink and it doesn’t move much more that one or two pixels, I believe.

It’s nothing serious, but still annoying, weird and disturbing.

My computer is a self assembled one. I’ve got an Intel core I7-7700K processor ( which uses Intel HD Graphic 630). No other graphic card is installed. My motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-Z270-HD3P rev. 1.0. My monitor is a Philips 272B7QPJEB/00. It is connected to the motherboard through an HDMI cable. Everything is perfectly up to date, say the BIOS, Windows and the drivers.

Could it be an issue with the driver of the HD 630 ?  Is anybody else experiencing the same ?  I would be glad if there was a solution.

Best regards.

Please provide steps to replicate the issue.  These steps are very crucial to finding the root cause and fix.
A screenshot to illustrate the issue is a huge plus. A video of the failure is even better! Attach to the post or provide the YouTube link.

  1. Install a fresh copy of Windows 10 1709
  2. Allow Automatic Updates to update the driver or download & install the latest iGPU driver.
  3. During the installation the screen goes black and stays like this.
  4. I learned my lesson after multiple OS reinstalls and created a system restore point, this is the only way other than reinstalling the OS to remediate the problem.

Will create a video of the issue and add it to the post later.

As soon as the IGPU driver would get installed, the screen goes black. In order to prevent the automatic installation we can set the following 2 keys:

Policy Specify search order for device driver source locations

ValueName: searchorderconfig

item: decimal: 0 => Do not search Windows Update

http://gpsearch.azurewebsites.net/#183

Policy Do not include drivers with Windows Updates

ValueName: ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate

Enabled Value:
decimal: 1

http://gpsearch.azurewebsites.net/#13437

In case it could not block it timely, we can use the following method to get the machine to boot:

  1. Boot the machine offline with a USB key or recovery environment
  2. Load the system hive from “The C drive (might have another drive letter:\Windows\System32\config”
  3. Export & delete the service that loads the IGPU driver:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\igfx

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\igfxCUIService2.0.0.0

This will get your machine back to using the basic graphic driver and you can apply the keys to block drivers.
