NUC DN2820FYKH - Video Performance are laggy :/

$

Hi,

I have a freshly installed Intel NUC DN2820FYKH, which I've purchased specifically to serve as an HTPC.

Sadly though I'm not experiencing the video performance I've read about. All of my videos are pretty standard - MKV's and MP4's at 1080 and 720 resolution

- but none are playing smoothly so far. They are laggy and choppy

i heard that the  Bay Trail Celeron should play fine even 4K H.264 files.

My setup is pretty straightforward:

- Intel NUC DN2820FYKH

- 60Gb SSD

- 4Gb RAM

* BIOS and drivers are all up to date (3/17/2014)

* Media resides on a "2Tb Transcade HD "connected via USB

* Connected to display directly via HDMI .

* installation XBMC OpenELEC-Generic.x86_64-4.1.4 [XBMC 13].

This is very frustrating.... am I missing something? Any additional software I should install or setting to lookup?

Thanks for helpers!

Windows 8.1 not recognising external display hd4000

About a month ago Windows did an update and my external monitor stopped working. No luck with a TV connection either.

By reverting to a previous driver it started working again. A week later it stopped. I updated to the latest driver (via device manager) and it worked again.

For the next week or so whenever it stopped working I would have to toggle between these two drivers:

10.18.10.3621 (16/may/14)

and

9.17.10.2857 (13/sep/12)

However after another update a few days ago the toggling trick doesn't work either and I can now no longer use an external display.

I have called Samsung who wanted me to do a reinstall (they weren't bothered about solving the issue). Eventually they directed me to a graphics driver. 200mb later it was for AMD!

I struggle to find any drivers on the Intel site that are for windows 8.1 HD4000 other than the ones that say Intel Iris. I try to install it and this error pops up - this is not compatible with your device (you know the one).

So my only driver options are the two noted above, plus this one I found through Samsung Update - 9.17.10.2768

None of them work and this is very frustrating.

I have noted a lot of people losing external display ability with Windows 8.1 updates but unlike them I am not able to browse through a nice selection of drivers to try and resolve the issue.

Can you help Intel?

eye strain

hello,

I have a Notebook with Intel Core i7 4710 - Intel Graphics 4600 and external Nvidia Gforce GTX 850M for about 2 weeks now. I connect the Notebook on two different places per HDMI with nearly three year old lg monitors. With my old Notebook (Intel Core2Duo and Nvidia Gforce 9500GT) I had not any problems with this two monitors. However when I connect one of the two monitors with my new Notebook I get eye strain and headache. Of course I use the right resolution FullHD and tried out different brigthness and contrast adjustments in intel graphic properties. OS is Windows 7 Prof x64  and the newest drivers are installed. Version:15.33.22.64.3621
Nearly two months ago I purchased an other Notebook with Intel Core i7 4700MQ - Intel Graphics 4600 and Nvidia Gforce GT755 M. I had the same problem there and so I sent it back, because I thought that the Notebook has an defect. I tried out Windows 7 and Windows 8 and had the same eye problems in the two different OS.
Now I do not really know what the problem exactly is, because I have these problems with two different Notebooks on two different external LG Monitors and the integrated Displays of the Notebooks. But I thinkt the problem is the Intel HD 4600. Maybe that there is something wrong with the driver.
Do you have any ideas about this? Couse  I can't purchase and send back new Notebooks all the time.

Sorry for my bad english

HP SPECTRE 13X2 PROBLEM 8/21/2014

This exact verbiage will be posted on the following web sites: Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and Intel.

I purchased this model on Feb. 16, 2014 and to this date with Many attempts through online computer take over with HP tech’s, Microsoft store here in Hawaii and communication with Intel through their web site to address a problem that has been happening since I purchased this, DISPLAY DRIVER HAS STOPPED RESPONDING BUT HAS RECOVERED pop up window keeps appearing after waking unit from sleep by opening the lid.

Problems were Battery #2 in the docking station keyboard died and would not charge, I returned the unit to Microsoft in Honolulu.

I received this Specter13x2 back from Microsoft on 8/11/14 after they and HP had it for 3 weeks.

So Microsoft has the unit for 1.5 weeks and tells me that they have done extensive testing and virus checking and found nothing and had to send it to Ohio for repairs.  Ohio has it for 4 days and sends it to HP in Tenn. To repair the battery.  HP has it for 4 days and  from the Account Manager that I was communicating with for HP, was informed that HP in Tenn. Replaced the battery and did “Extensive data testing and returned it to Microsoft.  Microsoft has it for another 3 days and returns it to Microsoft Honolulu.  They have it for a day updating ALL the drivers and software to the most current.

I receive the unit back and the battery is charging and shows the amount of charge and the pop up  Display Driver Still continues to pop up, screen turns black, then flashes the color of my start screen, then goes to my desktop page, this all taking about 3 to 4 seconds.  Then the pop up window indicates the driver has stopped working.  Then the system operates fine.

I have contacted Intel through their chat and problem solving page, they have sent me links to update my HP Bios and for Intel’s display driver, that when I tried the link and it downloaded, I was prompted that the driver I was told by Intel would work on my system, prompted me that it was Not compatible with my system.

So, does anyone have a solution for this?  Is this a problem with all the SPECTRE 13x2, or just the one’s with windows 8.1, or Intel’s drivers?    I need help PLEASE.

Intel graphics 2500 won't install in windows 7.

Is there a diagnostic tool to analyze why installation of Intel HD 4600 graphics driver failed?

Hi,

I've this recurring problem with Intel HD 4600 graphics driver, specifically win32_153322.exe (version: 15.33.22.3621)

I've been unable to install it for the past one month now.

Is there a log or diagnostic tool to analyze why the installation failed?

My desktop system is:

Intel i5-4570 Haswell CPU

Asus H87-PRO mainboard/motherboard/system board

16 GB RAM (Kingston HyperX DDR3 1600 MHz, non-ECC)

Dell U2312HM Full HD monitor (connected to mainboard/system board/motherboard using DVI-cable supplied by Dell)

Intel graphics 3000 accelerator driver issues

Hey guys!

I know there's a ton of these posts regarding driver issues on the internet already, but I like to think i checked a ton of them and tried all the suggested solutions. Right now I'm kind of at my wits end, which is why I'm posting here. About two months ago, give or take, my laptop's screen suddenly started flashing while playing a game (turning all green / red / black) and eventually it returned to the desktop and I got the following error: Intel HD graphics 3000 accelerator driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered. I thought that was it for now, but ever since it keeps happening while i'm 10-20 minutes into a game, and sometimes even when watching youtube/streams or when browsing the internet.

The first thing I did was delete my current drivers and download the latest versions (Intel(R) HD Graphics Family and NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M), figuring that would solve the issue but it didn't. I also made sure all my windows updates were done. Since nothing helped I tried to do a factory settings reset, which returned the laptop (Dell XPS L702X) to the state it was when I first got it. Since this didn't seem to help either, I'm starting to guess it's just a hardware issue? I've also tried updating my BIOS and other updates through the dell website (customed to my laptop), aswell as a customized Intel driver. Can it be that a windows update causes this issue? Because before I started testing the laptop after the factory settings reset I first let the Windows updater run all the important and optional updates.

Anyways, not sure if this is all clear because i'm not that into the tech kind of stuff, if u have any questions feel free to ask and thanks in advance!

BSOD possibly due to Intel HD Graphics 4400

Hello,

      I just joined this community to inform and to discuss with u a very important problem.

      I bought my VAIO laptop 1.5 months back with model name SVF15328SGW, Since then i have problem so slow response and frequent windows crashes. I followed the problem and did everything that the experts on internet said and also consulted internet and Sony service center but the problem was not solved. The problem was very poor performance of Notebook and BSOD whenever i used to wake it up from sleep. Yesterday i disabled Intel HD graphics from Device manager and noted that after it is disabled i can't put the pc to sleep because the option of sleep was lost. Then i realized it might be the Intel HD Graphics 4400 drivers that causing the problem. So i followed the instructions and Installed Beta drivers from intel site instead of drivers supplied by Sony. The performance problem is almost solved and Notebook is performing quite well. and The BSOD problem still persists. Kindly help me solve this problem.

Intel HD4000 and MST Hub

Hi,

I've got laptop with Intel i7-3630QM. There is integrated graphic card Intel HD4000 and 3 outputs: DVI, HDMI and Display Port. I'd like to connect 3 monitors at the same time in extended mode (independent). I've found the information that I can connect up to 3 monitors to my laptop if at least 2 of them are connected via Display Port. Due to only 1 Display Port output I need to use a hub. And now is my question: Can I use MST Hub (i.e. Multi Stream Transport (MST) Hub DisplayPort 1-3 - Graphic solutions GeForce & Radeon) to extend number of outputs? Then I could connect 1 monitor via Display Port -> Display Port, second via active dongle Display Port -> DVI or HDMI and 3rd via the same dongle or via native DVI or HDMI Intel HD4000 output.

I'm digging the Internet looking for a solution for a few days and I don't want to spend money on not working solutions.

Thanks,

Darek

I'm running an up-to-date version of Windows 8.1 on a new ThinkPad laptop (i7-4600U, 12GB ram, 64bit), with dual monitors out of a docking station (vga and dvi).   Using Cygwin, chrome, Visual Studio, outlook, Lync most of the time.   Have captured a couple dumps from crashes if anyone can help diagnose...

Simple demo of HD 4400 and HD 4600 screen tearing under Windows 8.1 + DirectX 9

$

Summary

I've getting screen tearing on both HD 4400 and HD 4600 machines running Windows 8.1 when using DirectX 9.  I've reduced the problem to a short demo program, and made the source code available.  The demo, on failing machines, shows red on the screen that should be all blue.  More so if the program is compiled in "Release" mode, hence my suspicion of a timing issue.

Details

The HD 4400 machine has a BIOS and graphics driver up to date as of 2014-Aug-12.  I have not seen the problem on machines with discrete graphics cards running Windows XP or Windows 7.  Alas I don't have a HD 4400/4600 machine running Windows 7, so I don't know know if the root cause is Windows 8.1 or the Intel graphics.

The program uses DirectX 9 and double buffering, in a way that I've used successfully for nearly a decade, and I believe is vanilla code.  The source code and executable are available from my personal web site (RedFlicker - Blonzonics) along with instructions for running the program.  Here is what the program does:

  1. Fill a buffer with RED pixels.
  2. Overwrite the buffer with BLUE pixels.
  3. Ship the buffer to the screen.
  4. Repeat.

By my understanding, the screen should always show BLUE pixels, because the RED pixels are totally overwritten before the buffer is displayed.  But the top of the screen shows RED pixels sometimes, as if the buffer is being prematurely displayed, (or is delayed in being not displayed after buffer swapping?)  Possibilities:

  • I've been using DirectX 9 incorrectly for nearly a decade, and never noticed until Windows 8.1/HD 4x00 showed up.
  • DIrectX 9 + Windows 8.1 has a bug.
  • Intel's driver or hardware has a bug.

What's the best way to attempt to resolve this issue?

P.S. Gory Details for DirectX 9 Experts

More details follow, of possible interest to DirectX experts who might spot something wrong in my code.  Below is how I am updating and displaying the buffer (from lines 244-268 of RedFlicker.cpp in the source code from the website):

static void UpdateAndDraw( HWND hwnd ) {    HRESULT hr;    Device->BeginScene();    IDirect3DSurface9* backBuffer=0;    hr = Device->GetBackBuffer(0,0,D3DBACKBUFFER_TYPE_MONO,&backBuffer);    Assert(hr==D3D_OK);    D3DSURFACE_DESC desc;    hr = backBuffer->GetDesc(&desc);    Assert(hr==D3D_OK);    D3DLOCKED_RECT lockedRect;    hr = backBuffer->LockRect(&lockedRect,NULL,D3DLOCK_NOSYSLOCK|D3DLOCK_DISCARD);    Assert(hr==D3D_OK);    FillWithCheckerBoard(desc, lockedRect, 0xFF0000);    FillWithCheckerBoard(desc, lockedRect, 0x0000FF);    hr = backBuffer->UnlockRect();    Assert(hr==D3D_OK);    backBuffer->Release();    Device->EndScene();    hr = Device->Present( 0, 0, 0, 0 );    if( hr!=D3D_OK ) {        Decode(hr);  }
}

Here is the routine that sets up the "present" parameters:

static void SetPresentParameters( D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS& present ) {    ZeroMemory( &present, sizeof(D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS) );    present.BackBufferCount           = 2;    present.SwapEffect                = D3DSWAPEFFECT_DISCARD;    present.BackBufferFormat          = D3DFMT_X8R8G8B8;    present.Flags = D3DPRESENTFLAG_LOCKABLE_BACKBUFFER;    present.Windowed                  = !ExclusiveMode;    if( ExclusiveMode ) {        present.BackBufferHeight = DisplayHeight;        present.BackBufferWidth = DisplayWidth;    }
}

The "present" parameters are transmitted to DirectX in this routine:

static bool InitializeDirectX( HWND hwnd ) {    HRESULT hr;    // Create the Direct3D interface object.    d3d = Direct3DCreate9( D3D_SDK_VERSION );    Assert(d3d!=NULL);    // Get device capabilities    D3DCAPS9 displayCaps;    hr = d3d->GetDeviceCaps(0,D3DDEVTYPE_HAL,&displayCaps);    Assert(hr==D3D_OK);    // Get resolution of current display mode    D3DDISPLAYMODE displayMode;    hr = d3d->GetAdapterDisplayMode(0,&displayMode);    Assert(hr==D3D_OK);    DisplayHeight = displayMode.Height;    DisplayWidth = displayMode.Width;    // Create the device    D3DPRESENT_PARAMETERS present;    SetPresentParameters(present);    hr = d3d->CreateDevice(        D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT,        D3DDEVTYPE_HAL,        hwnd,        D3DCREATE_SOFTWARE_VERTEXPROCESSING,        &present,        &Device    );    if ( hr!=D3D_OK  ) {        char buffer[200];        sprintf_s(buffer,200,"Internal error: d3d->CreateDevice returned %s\n",Decode(hr));        MessageBoxA(hwnd,buffer,NULL,MB_OK|MB_ICONWARNING);        return false;    }      return true;
}

The source code download has the full source (360 lines) and a VS2013 solution for compiling it.

Dear reader,

My problem here is, that I can't find the correct driver for my Video Card. Thing is. The Computer is built for Windows 7/8/Linux. But for reasons I have to use Windows XP on it.

I'd rather not use the methods many people are using. (Compatibility Mode on Windows 7 or XP Mode on Windows 7 etc.)

System Information is enclosed in the Attachment. Thank you for your consideration!

HD4600/GTX880M Optimus scaling issues

Hi,

I recently got a new laptop with Optimus graphics and for some reason I'm having odd scaling issues. My laptop is connected to a 16:9 HDTV that reports resolutions up to 1920x1200p 60Hz and my desktop is using 1080p60Hz with "Maintain Display Scaling" mode selected. However when running some games the display mode switches to "Maintain Aspect Ratio" so I end up getting a squished 1080p image displayed with black bars. The TV reports its using 1920x1200p.

This issue only seems to show when games are using 1080p60Hz, 59Hz or other resolutions are not affected by odd scaling. I came here as the issue seems to come from the Intel part of the system that does the display scaling, as the Nvidia Control Panel lacks scaling controls.

Thanks for your help,
