Hi, i've a problem with flickering black with double monitor extended desktop on the external one. It comes when i set up 1920x1080 on the first monitor and 1920x1200 on the second monitor. My configuration: Notebook Deviltech Hellfire (MSI GE70 barebone), Intel 3610QM Geforce GT650M with 2GB of ddr5 ram, 16 GB (2x8) dual channel ram at 1600Mhz, Samsung 830 256GB, external monitor dell u2412m, OS windows 8.1 updated. All drivers are updated. Some other information: the external monitor is connected with vga cable. with the same vga cable i tried with my netbook and no problem. If i set 1920x1080 on the second monitor there is no problem and there is no problem also if i duplicate the desktop or I use only the external monitor. I uninstalled and reinstalled all graphic card drivers (hd 4000 and gt650m) without any changes.

Thx

4K/UHD resolution on Haswell: HBR2 via DP supported?

$

Hi,

we are testing Haswell systems with new 28" UHD-resolution Display Samsung U28D590D.

This monitor has DP1.2 and HDMI 1.4a inputs.

As expected, 3840x2160@30Hz works via HDMI on Haswell platforms.

Unfortunately, via DisplayPort, no 4K resolution works with this display.

Via DP, Haswell until now only seems to be able to use Multi-Stream Transport (MST) to display 3840x2160@60Hz.

With Single Stream (SST), only 3840x2160@30Hz seems to be possible.

The Samsung U28D590D seems to expect High Bitrate 2 mode with 5.4 GT/s via DP (HBR2).

According to datasheets, Haswell (4th gen Core i) does support HBR2.  But is it really usable?

HD 4000, how to get 23.976Hz and not 23.972?

On HD 4000, is there a way to get an exact 23.976Hz refresh rate, rather than the default 23.972? Maybe through a custom resolution/timing?

Bugs that need to be fixed with the next driver release

Hello, after a couple of month with a HD 4600 IGP I feel a little bit left alone by the driver team. There are a few high priority bugs that need to be addressed but I can't find any statements in the "know issues" list in the last drivers. I will make a short list here and hopefully this will be fixed with the next driver (hopefully this month):

1. DOTA 2 game freeze. DOTA 2 is one of the most popular games out there and especially on the HD 4600 since it doesn't need a lot of GPU power. It runs very fine, but there is an issue where the game freezes. You still can hear the sound going on, but the screen just is frozen and only a restart helps. I googled and many other ppl have the same issue: Screen Freeze, but the game is still responding. (Intel Graphics) and Dota 2 Video Hang but game keep running for example. This has to be top priority as it is one of the most played games and it is game breaking.

2. Fix map loading bug for the new CoD Advanced Warfare. This game also runs decent (well, enough to play it at minimum settings, but performance improvements would also be nice!), but a few maps (e.g Defender, Retreat, Riot and Instinct) wont load, they get stuck and take too long, no matter what settings. This seems to be an issue with the HD 4600. Also game breaking.

3. Please fix the scaling bug already. It is over a year old now and still there is no option to stretch lower resolution game to full-screen. Since the HD 4600 isn't able to run many games at the default desktop resolution, this is a major issue. With some tricks it is working sometimes, but this needs to be implemented. If I select the native resolution, lets me select my scaling options! Very important, I don't get it why this isn't log fixed...

4. Last, but not least, give me back more options. With a few drivers ago I could choose if I want my display to got to 50 hz for power saving, now I can't anymore. Bring back more control so I can decide if I want to lower my refresh rate. Often times I forget and then I play with 50 hz, which is really bad.

So, to sum it up: fix game breaking DOTA 2 and Advanced Warfare bugs, fix the scaling issues and bring back the old power saving settings. Then I would be fully satisfied with my HD 4600. Sometimes it feels like the driver team isn't even aware of those issues and it takes way too long to fix them. If Intel wants to improve the GPU part, that's where you have to start.

Any word on when we will get a new driver? And if you ahve other issues that I didn't mention, just add them. Lets make a list of important issues that need to be fixed, so maybe something changes.

Intel HD Graphics scaling issue with DirectX 11

Hello everyone!

I've been looking around for a solution with the scaling issue that affects high res screens. Basically I have a XPS 13 with an i7 5500U and a 5500 HD graphics. When I launch a game it goes to 3200x1800 (the default resolution), but clearly this ultrabook can't manage those pixels without lagging. So if I try and rescale to a lower res, it doesn't go full screen but rather it stays in a letterbox with big black bezels around.

I saw that the issue was recently fixed (- NEW- Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro,  and HD Graphics Driver update posted  for Haswell and Broadwell version 15.36.21.4222), but when I try to install the driver it says

error message.jpg

I'm not sure where the problem could be. I saw the requirements and my laptop seem to have everything this driver needs. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Edit:

Ok so, I tried

Intel®t Download Center

and it's not working either.

About Intel's decision to drop support for 2nd generation performance i7 GPU on Windows 10.

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-034343.htm?wapkw=cs-034343

The above link indicates that my Intel i7-2670QM processor's graphics card is not compatible with Windows 10. Is this correct? Does that mean that the HD 3000 graphics, which is actually capable of playing many video games, is not powerful enough to handle Windows 10 ? Why is Intel dropping support for this popular and still powerful product ? One would expect that a performance i7 processor, which was released only 4 years ago, would not be treated in such a manner. This processor is as good as most of the latest 4th and 5th gen processors, and in some cases it actually provides a better performance.

I would really appreciate if you could clarify what performance degradation and issues I should expect after upgrading to Windows 10. I use Windows 7 at the moment.

Thank you.

- NEW- Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Driver update posted for Haswell and Broadwell version 15.36.21.4222

This update addresses several previously found issues and includes new features. Please see the release notes and excerpt below for details. As always, feedback is appreciated.

The 15.36.21.4222 has been posted to Intel Download Center at the following direct links to the drivers:

32bit -  http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24965

64 bit - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=24964

This driver supports the following:

5th Generation Intel® Core Processors with Intel HD graphics, Intel Iris™graphics, Intel Iris™Pro graphics and select Pentium®/ Celeron® Processors with Intel® HD graphics for Microsoft Windows* 8.1, Microsoft Windows* 8 and Microsoft Windows* 7 operating systems.

4th Generation Intel® Core™Processors with Intel HD graphics, Intel Iris™graphics and Intel Iris Pro graphics and select Pentium®/ Celeron® Processors with Intel® HD graphics for Microsoft Windows* 8.1, Microsoft Windows* 8 and Microsoft Windows* 7 operating systems.

New Features in this release:

  • Support for the newly launched H-series, R-series, and S-series 5th Generation Intel Core processors.

  • Display Scaling Option is Now “Sticky” User Preference

Scaling support in control panel has been changed to improve user experience. Previously, the set of scaling options available to the user was tied to the currently selected resolution and any change to the resolution caused the user selected scaling option to be lost. In the new implementation, the user selected scaling option is orthogonal to the current resolution and expresses the user’s preference/intent for scaling behavior, regardless of the current resolution. The driver will remember this scaling preference and apply it for future display mode sets performed either in the graphics control panel OR via OS control panel.

  • Forced Application Scaling

The control panel also offers a new “forced application scaling” option where the user selected scaling option above for desktop will also be applied for full screen applications (generally games or media players), overriding whatever scaling mode the application and/or DirectX runtime/Operating System specify. This is intended to allow users to force “Stretch Full Screen” or “Maintain Aspect Ratio” scaling to address problems reported by users with games running in “Centered” scaling mode - particularly DirectX10 and 11 games and/or on Windows 8/8.1. Centered mode gives a bad user experience when running games as significantly lower than native resolution (e.g. to improve frame rate) on displays with very high resolutions. Intel has identified several root causes for this behavior:

untitled.png

a) Some games request “Unspecified” scaling to the DirectX runtime upon full screen mode set. On Windows 8 and 8.1, for touch enabled systems, Windows converts this to “centered” scaling in the mode set call into the display driver. Microsoft has acknowledged this issue (CSS case 115021712411905/MSBU bug 5500783); the forced scaling option provided in this driver is a workaround for this Win8/8.1 operating system issue.

b) Several games explicitly request “Centered” scaling. Intel has reached out to the game developers to educate them to request “Stretched” scaling instead and several games (such as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare) have been patched to correct this behavior, but other applications may still have this issue.

In both cases, the new forced application scaling option provides a solution to allow the user to specify their preferred scaling mode.

This option is not enabled by default because it technically means that the graphics driver is not honoring operating system requests for mode sets and would cause WHCK test failures during driver certification. However, Intel strongly recommends users set this option when playing games at non-native resolutions, especially on Windows 8/8.1, especially for DirectX10/11 games.

  •   Dedicated Memory Reporting

The graphics driver now reports some amount of fictitious “dedicated” graphics memory to the operating system (128MB by default) to work around applications issues in a number of games. These games incorrectly look for some amount of “dedicated” graphics memory because they weren’t coded with the unified memory architecture for processor graphics.

The amount reported can be modified or disabled if desired by changing the following registry value:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\GMM, create a REG_DWORD value named “DedicatedSegmentSize”. The value is interpreted as number of MB to report (0-512MB). A value of 0 disables reporting the dummy memory segment. If the registry key/value is not found, the driver will report the default 128MB.

Please see the release notes for issues resolved with this release.

Thanks

Windows 8.1 - "Your PC can't project to another screen..." display error when projecting to a white screen or trying to use an external monitor, even after reinstalling the Intel HD driver

$

I work in an IT department and we discovered a problem with one of our images that causes this error when users try to use a projector or an external monitor:

"Your PC can't project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using a different video card."

Laptop model: Dell Latitude E7240

OS:  Windows 8.1 64-bit

Processor: Intel Core i5-4310U

We don't have this problem on our current image, but have found that dozens of laptops that were built earlier this year have this issue.

We have tried the following steps:

-Running all Windows Updates

-Uninstalling the Intel HD Graphics driver and installing the newest available (version currently using: 10.18.14.4170)

*We have tried several different drivers dating back to the middle of 2014 without any difference.

-Running the System File Checker tool from the command prompt

-Checking the BIOS settings

Again, it is now working on identical laptops, so the config will work. Something went wrong with our old image and now we cannot get the Intel graphics driver to work properly.

The driver shows up in Device Manager, but when you open Windows Display Advanced Settings, it shows the Adapter Type to be Microsoft Basic Display Driver.

I have looked everywhere online and have found nothing. Anybody else ever seen this before?

Right now the only solution we have is reinstalling the OS, which is not ideal obviously.

Thanks!

Intel HD Graphics 3000: Advanced mode crashes - GfxUI.exe stopped working

$

Hey everybody,

what I actually wanted: my new DELL screen has a native resolution of 2560x1440 and I wanna make my Futjisu Lifebook A512 (Windows 8.1 Pro) with Intel HD Graphics 3000 display this resolution on this screen via HDMI.

I found this tutorial: Graphics Drivers — Custom Resolutions & Modes - so I opened the Intel control panel. This actually works - but only in normal and assistant mode. The advanced mode - which I need for changing the custom resolution - unfortunately crashes. No matter if I choose advanced mode in the first screen directly or I first start normal mode and switch to advanced mode. At last there always comes the error: "GfxUI.exe stopped working."

Since I started looking for support on the internet, I tried to fix almost all I could find. Of course I (re)installed and/or updated several drivers and softwares:

- the DELL screen driver

- the Intel Graphics HD 3000 driver

- Microsoft .NET

I also changed the security settings of all config folders I could find within the .NET "Framework"-Folders according to this tutorial: How to Fix GfxUI.exe Error on Your PC? | Fix EXE & DLL Errors (under "Solution 2"):

- C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG

- C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config

- C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG

- C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Config

I even uninstalled a lot of old unnecassery apps and removed the GfxUI.exe.config file in C:\Windows\System32 - read somewhere that it might help... But it didn't....

The funny thing is that I really got it working ONE time, I think it was after changing any security setting in one of those folders. I could actually switch from normal to advanced mode and the software didn't crash. So I was cheered up and thought the problem was solved - but that was yesterday evening and now my problem is still there. After closing the application it did't start once more in advanced mode again after that.

Now I don't know anymore what to do. I actually believe that it has to work in any way. Maybe you have any ideas. Unfortunately I can't reinstall Windows completely because it is my employer's notebook. I'd hope to find a solution to display the 2560x1440 solution without bulldozering the system. Maybe even without making Gfxui.exe advanced mode work? At the moment I can only choose max. 2048x1152 as resolution.

At last, here are the error reports I could find in the windows event protocols when I wanna switch to advanced mode in gfxui.exe.

I'm very thankful for any of your help.

Greetings

Oliey

Intel HD4600 cannot set custom resolution of 2560x1600 - bandwitdh capacity exceeded!

Hi some professional out there, I need advise... I tried this:

using my laptop dell E6440 having Intel HD4600 graphic, tried to dock on an E-port replicator PR02X or PR03X , then connecting the external monitor thru of Dell 3007WFP thru DisplayPort at E-port replicator (converter from DP to DVI-Dual Link is Dell DANARBC084). As there's no option to choose for 2560x1600 resolution, so I need to create one custom resolution. I open the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, and key-in my needed resolution 2560x1600@60Hz, it says "The custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity". Without the resolution, my monitor can only display 1280x800. I really need the resolution. Below is the information center report, hope someone may help to advise, many thanks!

Hello

This BSOD starts to irritating me.

Happens for more than 1/2 a year (likely almost a year) with occasional intensity but last weeks almost daily which is bad already.

The driver name leads me to Intel support since it's name of Intel driver binary.

What I'd need to know firstly if that's software (ie. bad configuration or conflict) or hardware problem. I'm close to decide RMA the laptop to manufacturer but this is very unfavourable solution so wanted to be more sure first if that's really HW problem.

Other circumstances: perceptionally louder fans going at idle states.

At home using exclusively external LCD panel for output (HDMI 1.4a cable, HDMI audio enabled).

Last but not least thing: the BSOD happens in major cases immediately after waking the monitor on from standby state) so it may relate to power management or similar thing.

Best Settings for Intel HD GCP

Hi guys,

First of all, this is my first topic here so please forgive me first time for the mistakes i make(I'm new so..).

Lets get to the topic. I started this discussion just to know that what are the best settings for gaming and designing(Photoshop) inside the 3D option of Intel HD GCP.

My current settings are:

GCP Settings.png

I think these are the default settings but I've been using them for PS CC and they've been working well. In the recent time just like the whole gaming world I also wanted to fulfill my little dream of playing "Game of The Year" (Yep, GTA V). So, I just wanted to know that what settings should i choose to play GTA V & Witcher 3 at the maximum FPS i can achieve.

Thanks Intel for making iGPUs like Intel HD!

Latest Intel HD 4600 driver updates break Minecraft shaders

$

I have noticed that all driver versions since 10.18.14.4080 do not work with many Minecraft shaders. Previously, most "standard" shaders worked well, albeit with low performance as expected. But after 4080, most shaders simply don't display anything or error out with "Invalid program final". It seems that the GPU does not recognize the GLSL code contained within the "final" shader program, and if "final" does not run, the whole shader does not run. Such shader incompatibilities have occurred before - running shaders on driver versions 15.33.29.64.3408 to 15.33.29.64.3621 actually crashed Minecraft, rather than gracefully failing. I believe that the fact that Minecraft shaders are failing on specific driver versions, when the hardware definitely supports the GLSL version required by the shaders, and the fact that shaders do work on other driver versions, hints to other GLSL incompatibilities in the incompatible drivers. I know that historically, Intel GPUs have had worse OpenGL support than discrete GPUs, although support in the latest GPUs is much better nowadays. Please, even if no one fixes this exact problem, take this into account.

im running windows 10 10130 and using intel hd 4600 (10.18.15.4225) and nvidia 970m (352.84) and whenever i launch any game the top portion of the screen is dark and then there are blue lines and it shows the game running on the bottom half but its only taking up half that while the other half is mirrored, if i downgrade the drivers to 10.18.15.4204 everything runs fine so i know its gotta be the driver.

Setting 1024x768 resolution on Windows 7x64 virtual monitor using Intel HD 5000

$

Hello,

I have a problem setting a custom resolution of 1024x768 on a virtual monitor using IntelHD 5000.

I use the NUC 54250 kit and run Windows 7 x64 on it, connect to a monitor using HDMI or Display port (tried both).

I define a 2nd monitor virtually (using windows screen resolution setting screen, press the detect button and select the "try to connect to : VGA").

The only resolution I see available for the virtual monitor created is 1280x720.

When I use the Intel HD graphics Control panel to set custom resolution, I successfully define 800x600.

BUT, when i try to define 1024x768 custom resolution I get an error saying "Maximum bandwidth exceeded".

For the 1st monitor (physical one, connected through HDMI/DP) I have no issues with resolution.

How can I define 1024x768 on the virtual monitor, it's crucial for me??

When I use desktop PC's with NVidia/AMD display adapters, I have no issue getting 1024x768 from the 2nd virtual monitor.

I use the latest Bios/window updates/intel HD drivers (even tried the beta version, but no luck).

Thank you.

Extended Desktop - problem with scaling

Hello,

I have problem with scaling.

My HW: Lenovo Thinkpad X220 (intel HD 3000), ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3, LG 29um65 (21:9, 2560x1080). Windows 7 Pro

On LCD I enabled PBP (Picture By Picture), connect DP and DVI from dock to LCD and in Intel Graphics Control Panel setup custom resolution 1280x1080/60Hz and Scaling = Maintain Display Scaling. One half is OK, on second is "bluish screen with red flickering". Problem is gone, if I change scaling for second Display to Scale Full Screen. But I think, that text on second screen is little blurred.

I try Display Driver 9.17.10.3347 from Lenovo (date 8/11/2014) and last Intel Driver 15.28.24.64.4229 (date 6/5/2015). Same problem.

Is it HW or SW problem?

Thanks,

Zivan

GMA 3150 driver fails to install, Windows 7

The Intel driver installer for GMA3150 says:
  Error
  An unknown error has occured.
  Setup will exit.
on Windows 7 Starter (32 bit) with SP1.

Looking in the log file, the Intel driver installer for GMA3150 contains an obsolete version of difxapi.dll.
Windows 7 SP1 or other Windows Update already installed a newer version of difxapi.dll in the System32 directory.
Intel's installer fails because it can't overwrite Microsoft's newer version by Intel's older version.

Here's part of the log from the installer downloaded from LG's support site:
