i7 6700k - 530 HD displays artifacts, flickers, goes black, etc. etc.

$

0

Bought a new computer and upon finishing Windows 10 Pro installation, noticed that the display connected on the 530 keeps showing artifacts-flickers every now and then, sometimes it goes black for 1-2 seconds then comes back.

When I thought it was the display, I tried it on the old computer, and everything worked perfectly.

I thought that it was a problem on the memory, tried with 1 stick (after running memtest) and the problem still existed.

Updated the drivers to the latest - still problem persists.

Finally went to google the problem and found out I am not the only one with the GPU flickering - it's so dissapointing.

Any ideas?

Intel HD5500 laptop: Windows 10 connects to TV, linux doesn't. What's the modeline ?

I am able to connect laptop to TV at 4096x2160 in Windows 10, but in Linux/Ubuntu the image flickers.

Is there a way to get the modeline (with frequencies) used in Windows to use it in linux (in xorg.conf or xrandr directly) ?

Btw why can't the linux driver figure out the modeline automatically -- the one it does get automatically doesnt work ?

Thanks in advance!

Feature Request - implement EDID override

$
0
0

Hello,

it would be nice if the Intel Graphics driver would support overriding EDID information like described in this document from Microsoft:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/gg487330

Why is this needed?

In a common HTPC (multimedia PC) setup with a PC, AVR (audio video receiver) and a television, the EDID information stored in the receiver & television that is passed to the PC determines the video and audio capabilities like: supported resolutions, supported audio formats etc ..

The problem is that very often the system only "sees" the EDID information of the television, and not that of the receiver, and so you don't get support for audio formats like DTS, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD that are supported by the receiver ...

The latest Sandy bridge CPU and corresponding chipset support all these sound standards, but they often not useable cause of these EDID problems.

Actually it really does not matter what video card / integrated graphics you use, NVidia and AMD graphics have the same problem, but their drivers

allows people to override the EDID information like is described in the above linked document from Microsoft.

Please implement this stuff, shouldn't be that hard to do, for one of you senior driver programmers it's probably just a few hours of work ...

Thank you

Christian

HDMI audio bitstreaming (passthrough) not working with Hyper-V enabled on Windows 10

$

Intel NUC D54250WYK, Windows 10 Professional x64, latest drivers (Graphics: 4331; Intel Display Audio: 3182), Hyper-V enabled. Since several months (and through several drivers' versions) I'm struggling with passing the encoded movie audio (AC3, DTS) through HDMI. Everything's fine when not using Hyper-V. When it's enabled (and having it disabled is not a solution for me), it's a hit or miss approach to get working bitstreaming (MPC-HC, Plex; doesn't really matter) to my Yamaha receiver after booting. When I do manage to get it working by rebooting several times (haven't been able to find any pattern to that), it works only until any of the following happens:

  • I log in remotely via RDP and then re-login locally
  • I log in locally as another user
  • some undefined amount of time (hours, days) passes, during which "something" breaks the pass-through functionality anyway.

After any of the above, I have to keep rebooting my OS until I get working bitstreaming again. Rinse and repeat, ad nauseam. It was working just fine up to Windows 8.1. Oddly enough, DTS-MA seems to work always, even when AC3 and DTS don't. Not cool.

Graphics corruption in Fallout 4 since 1.3 patch

$

Since Fallout 4's 1.3(.47) patch, I (and many, many others) have been experiencing texture issues that make the game unplayable. I have an Iris 5100, but the problem seems to be universal across all Intel GPUs, regardless of hardware.

XztZJmb.jpg

More images are in this gallery here. Basically, the textures stretch and warp, almost always obscuring your view and looking like a mess. It's interesting to note that this does not happen to player/character models, although it's difficult to discern what these textures originally were to begin with. Updating to the latest beta driver does not fix it (although I'd never seen the bright red texture glitch in the gallery before it, so... there's that).

I originally believed this to be a problem combining Apple hardware (I'm using a late-2013 rMBP) with the Intel GPU, which is not officially supported by Bethesda (the game's publisher), but since then I've encountered many people across the internet on other hardware who are encountering the same issue. In fact, there seems to be something about the 1.3 update that screwed up textures for a lot of people with integrated graphics, including those with AMD.

Someone will probably inevitably say that Apple has requested that all issues with their products should be directed through their support, but quite frankly, this doesn't seem like an Apple problem (and the Apple person I talked to agreed with me, saying they can only work to apply fixes within OS X). The game was made by Bethesda, runs solely in a Windows environment, and the common denominator seems to be the Intel GPU. Bethesda is aware of the problem, but are under no obligation to support users of hardware they never offered support to. While I don't know much about driver programming, I feel like this is an issue that will most likely be solved by you at Intel if it is solved at all. You also are under no obligation to solve the problem, and if you can't, no hard feelings (really). This GPU has felt like "the little graphics card that could", given the amount I've put it through, and this is the first game I've encountered that is entirely unplayable because of it.

I unknowingly solved the crashing problems already known by installing ENBoost, a utility that is known to boost performance -- for some reason it completely stops the crashing other Intel users have been experiencing. The game runs just fine on versions 1.1 (release) and 1.2, and I'm continuing to play the game thanks to downgrade patches, but any future content will be unavailable unless the issue is fixed.

I've attached the Intel SSU diagnostics, DxDiag, and DispDiag for reference, but a summary of my system specs is as follows: Macbook Pro Retina, Late-2013, Intel Core i5-4258U CPU @ 2.40GHz, Intel Iris Graphics 5100, 8GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro, graphics driver version 20.19.15.4380 (which I think is the beta driver? don't know what else it would be, since I turned auto-updates off and haven't installed another since). I was previously on the last stable release, which I found to run significantly better than the Apple-provided one that installs during Boot Camp.

Sorry for the info dump, I'm just really interested in helping to figure out a solution if possible. I know this has been posted about a few times as well, hope this isn't a problem as I didn't want to hijack any more threads. If there's anything else I can do to help, please let me know -- I'm hoping I'll be able to get some users not on Apple hardware to post their information as well. Thank you in advance!

Firstly, I wanted to know if theres an update for this. Window 8 64 bit. I'm sure there is.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz

Before I can get into details to explain, how do I tell if I have the latest version. For some reason when I go to the intel website to download the driver it tells me that i do not meet the minimum requirements.

Here was one i was directed to download

Download Intel® Iris™, Iris™ Pro, and HD Graphics Driver for Windows* 7/8/8.1 64bit

this was one of them. I was trying to run Fallout 4 it loads then when i hit new game it give me the message

Display dims/brightens depending on what's on the screen

Hi guys,

I've been trying to figure out a solution to this and it's driving me insane.

The display brightness automatically changes depending on what's on the screen. For example, if I'm on a website with a white background the brightness will be normal, 100%, but if I switch to a website with a black background the display will automatically dim.

I've looked into this topic indepth and I have tried every solution there is. I cannot figure out how to make this feature go away. I've turned off 'adaptive brightness' in Power settings, as seen here,

http://i.imgur.com/klfxd1Z.png

I have tried disabling 'Sensor Monitoring Services' in the Services section of Computer Management

http://i.imgur.com/ZuF9ycd.jpg

I have disabled Power Saving Technology in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel

http://i.imgur.com/c0supXW.png

And yet, this still happens. It happens when I'm plugged in and on when I'm just running on battery.

I've tried just about everything and I still can't figure it out. I've tried reinstalling drivers and still nothing. I don't know if this is an ASUS problem, an Intel problem, or a windows 10 problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cannot play games like XCOM2 Not Enough Dedicated Video RAM

$

Hello,

I am unable to play XCOM2 our other modern games like Dying Light that I downloaded from Steam. I experience low frame rates (average 24 FPS from FRAPS) and reoccurring lag spikes (~10 FPS, also FRAPS). While I have read that XCOM2 is poorly optimized, I experience the same trouble with other games. This issue occurs to various degrees in different games depending on how demanding the game is graphically (Dying Light is more demanding than XCOM2 and unsurprisingly has a lower average frame rate and more frequent lag spikes i.e.). Issue is consistent no mater what I am doing in game (in XCOM2 menu screens have the same kind of lag as action sequences i.e.). My old laptop (Dell Inspirion 15R) had none of these issues, and it was inferior in every way except for the graphics card (it had a relatively high end NVIDIA, I do not recall the model).

I have tried playing on the absolute lowest settings and not in full screen, and while this helped somewhat the issue is ongoing. canyourunit.com  tells me that I do not have enough Dedicated Video RAM (minimum 1024 MB, I have 112.5 MB). I have tried changing how much RAM is allocated directly (in the BIOS, there is no option) and indirectly (changing the Intel and HP power profiles). Everything is up to date to my knowledge (graphics drivers, BIOS, etc.). I am a novice PC gamer and am not concerned with high performance, I just want to be able to play games at a solid frame rate (30FPS+).

Any suggestions? I would hope I could just change how many memory is allotted or update a driver I missed. Also, I assume since my graphics card is integrated I cannot swap it out with another one easily (or at all)? This laptop is not a dedicated gaming rig, and I would not be able to go without it for more than a few days.

Hi All,

I have an ASUS Motherboard P8B75-M/CSM with built-in Intel Graphics w/ Intel Core i3 Processor 3.30 Ghz Speed. The Graphics Version is win64_153338.

I am not having any crashes or lockups or freezes because of the Graphics on this computer, however I lost the Mouse Pointer from the Windows Boot Manager for the operating systems.

The Mouse Pointer had been available until Build 10532 was installed.

Using WagnardMobile DDU Utility and removing the Intel Graphics, which needs to be done to remove Windows.old Folder, the Mouse Pointer shows up again in the Windows Boot Manager. When I reinstall or upgrade the Intel Graphics, the Mouse Pointer is missing again.

What setting do I need to change to restore the Mouse Pointer to the Windows Boot Manager?

Hi, I'm at the point of throwing the towel in.

Dell 250 G4 i5 6200U GPU 520.

I've installed the beta 15.40.18.4380 driver and I still get horrific flicker. It is especially ad when on AC power but still flickers every 10s on battery.

What can be done, the laptop is a nice spec but unusable with the constant screen flicker.

If there is a fundamental chipset fault isn't it time Intel owned up?

I uninstalled the graphic driver and reinstalled it already. Also added the TdrDelay to the regedit.

Sadly any of these didn't solve the problem.

So what else should I do now?

Intel 520 Graphics BSOD Error VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (igdkmd64.sys) Windows 10

$

Hi,

I just recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 900 Laptop that came with the Intel 520 graphics card and Windows 10. I have begun to realize a re-occurring issue where I receive a Blue Screen of Death error (stop error) whenever I am trying to edit a video with adobe premiere pro or sometimes when I am playing games. The error is VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (igdkmd64.sys). Each time this happens I have to restart my edit or my game because my computer must reboot and it makes me want to scream . After frantically looking for solutions on the internet I got nothing that worked except for disabling the driver, which is OK, but I can't help but feel angry that I don't get to use my new graphics card to its full potential... So, is this problem solvable? I have tried uninstalling the driver and restarting my computer, but that did not work. Is this something I will just have to live with until an updated driver or windows 10 update is released? It just hurts that whenever I play a game or edit I have to disable my display driver. Any tips or comments to help are greatly appreciated!

Alex

Intel HD Graphics 530 driver causing screen flickering

Dear Intel Support Team,

I have recently purchased a new laptop, a custom built X BOOK.

The laptop is fitted with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ quad-core and a  GeForce GTX 960M 2GB.

The graphics adapter is an Intel® HD Graphics 530.

The operating system is a Windows 10 Pro 64 bits.

I have a flickering screen problem that is very annoying, the screen keeps flashing on and off, even sometimes showing thin green horizontal lines and this doesn't

go away with a restart or a shutdown.

I disabled the adapter and everything worked fine.

I have the latest version of the driver for the 64 bit CPU architecture.

One thing worth mentioning, is that I didn't have the problem until I installed Visual Studio 2015 !!

I reset my operating system and everything was fine until I installed Visual Studio 2015 again.

Kindest Regards,

Ibrahim Najjar
